I made dams in the Esk as a weeyan. Just as the Esk made its way into Penicuik and on to the mill. I have many happy memories of summer days on the Esk. Thank you for this film.
there are quite a few rivers called Esk, I assume to be derived from the gaelic for water, or river: uisge m (genitive singular uisge, plural uisgeachan) water rain, shower Tha an t-uisge ann. ― It is raining. river, stream Synonyms: abhainn, sruth (rare) wave
This film traces the journey of the North Esk river. It is the South Esk river that flows through Newbattle Abbey. This joins the North Esk in Dalkeith Country Park. A film of the South Esk would also be worth watching.

Thank you for this film.
Excellent little film - I have been lucky enough to work along the banks of both Esks for more than 25 years and still learned something new!
Superb film, very informative and interesting.
Great Stuff. Thank you very much.
Fascinating, thankyou
Love running in Dalkeith Park and Penicuik House by the North Ask
My sister owns Inveresk House. Cromwell made it his lodgings for a time. There’s a priest hole and a long escape tunnel.

Shame they have missed out Newbattle Abbey as it flows passed there before it goes on to Dalkeith & Dalkeith Palace Grounds.
