    Awesome- eye opening for someone who’s always been able to hear more than I’m able to play. Thanks

    I love this video. I had suspected what you were teaching in this video for a long time but didn't ever put it together in my home studio. You just confirmed it all for me. I will be using this in the future! Thank you much!

    This is great Tom, and it is so much fun to see you and Alex having fun playing together.
    This is a real game changer, wish I had learned this years ago. You really are the best teacher I have ever seen. I wish I had a guitar buddy to play this with. Thank you 😻

    Thanks so much Tom and son! Sunday jams up here in the northern Canada we have a group of fine ppl that are many guitar players but it seems everyone is chugging away on all open chords. This will help add some very nice harmonies to mix that up. All the best to you!✌

    Absolutely fantastic guys, as a relatively new inexperienced player, I wondered if something like this was possible!, your lesson is just what I was looking for, clear and easy to understand, can't wait to try this out with my buddy who sticks with open chords, many thanks for the time you took to put this together, you've got a new subscriber here. All the best.

    This is a really nice video to illustrate different voicings of the same chords using moveable chords/capo. Whilst an octave is *technically* a harmony I’m going to respectfully suggest you are stretching most people’s understanding of “harmonising” if you are only using unison/octaves … perhaps “parallel voicings” or “CAGED voicings” would be a bit more descriptive. I liked the video but felt a bit disappointed there weren’t any harmonies .. helpful idea for duo’s though :)

    Indeed - it is hard for beginners to know how to even start to join a band - they'll always be the second guitar at the start, and have had no idea what to do. I knew about caged, but didn't know that the correlation between the order of CAGED and the positioning of the capo. ding. Lightbulb moment. Always fun when Alex joins you too.

      Agreed, shapes and sounds take some getting use to, it,s an ever learning process, there is no limit.

    Sometimes when in a Jam and I'm playing bass, it throws me off when the other guitarist uses a capo. Is there a chart made for this? Great video, watching it at work, I'll watch it again tonight so I can play closer attention. Thanks, very useful

    While playing in the key of “G” ,You placed the capo on the 3rd fret and made “E” shape the I chord. Then if memory serves correct he then moved capo to 5th fret and used D as the I. My question is what if the open chords were in a different key, would that change everything? For example if the open chords were in “C” would the 3rd fret be “A” shape and 5th fret be “G”?
    Thanks

    • @Uncleleng

    Well not sure, but the C add9 at 2:27 by Alex might add some harmonic excitement, compared to a regular C Chord

      What is the fret numbers for the cages method? I mean 0 3 5 7 9?

    • @TomStrahle
      @TomStrahle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@avitolourenco For the key of G it would 0 3 5 7 10 but every key would be different. But the fret distances would be the same. G shapes to E shapes would be 3 frets, E shapes to D shapes would be 2 fret, etc.

    • @avitolourenco
      @avitolourenco 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TomStrahle ok so it is clearly based on the number of semitones between the starting and ending key?

    • @avitolourenco
      @avitolourenco 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I.e A to G will be 2, C to A will be 3
