I hope your family loves the change! Good call getting at least a couple…keep expectations low on the first one with the goal of just figuring out a flow and smoothing over the bumps. I almost quit after our 1st because the openness was hard for me, but now I love it!
Loved this video. We are going to be switching to Math with Confidence for next school year and your videos are getting me even more excited about that :)
Such great picks! It’s so interesting seeing what other families use. We may start Life of Fred next year but I already am so literature based it may be too much 😅
I love seeing what others use too! I keep wondering how we will handle reading time when we start literature based curriculum for two separate levels of kids. We shall see!
Have you looked into Kate Snows other "program" called "Math Facts that Stick" (addition, Subtraction multiplication and division). Im using the division one with my 4th grader next yr
Yes! We love those books! I am just starting multiplication facts that stick with my end of the year 3rd grader, and we did Addition Facts That Stick as well. Have you used them all then since you're on the division book? We own Subtraction Facts That Stick but I never went through it.
The math games are awesome! My family thinks we own too many, I say no way! There are a few others not mentioned here we like a lot too, like Clumsy Thief and Math Noodlers.
Hi! I have "3rd grader" (sort of). She has taken her time learning to read...so we are just going at her pace. So, we have decided (with full flexibility to change): Reading: She is on the orange "Hooked on Phonics" book (book 2 in the vintage set). She is also reading from the "Free and Treadwell's" Reading Literature Primer. We talked and she wants to continue with theses books. We might add in a few easy readers or try chapter books. Math: Easy Peasy Math level 3 Language Arts: Fix-it Grammar: the Nose Tree (the old version) PLUS Copy-work and narration History: Group subject and we are reading:"Light and the Glory: for Children" plus some biographies (from Step-Up American series). This pairs right along with our Classical Conversations Cycle 3 (American history). Science : Interest Led (so far...she is doing some basic Chemistry) Geography & Art & Music & Public Speaking & other stuff: our Classical Conversations Co-op Anything else Interest -led!
Hello I just came across your videos and I love them! I’m looking into starting brave writers this coming school year. But I’m still confused. Do you purchase the whole year package they offer on their site or do you purchase the individual ones they have?
I actually don’t recommend buying the 10 book pack for the upcoming year for a few reasons. One, it’s fun to pick individual books you want to read since there are too many to use them all now! Two, it could be a waste of money if you don’t end up liking this style. I’d pick a couple, see what you think, and then get more. They usually have some kind of yearly sale in November too, so keep an eye out for that. Last year I think it was like 30% off or something? The year before that it was buy one get one free.
We use a lot of the same curricula in our homeschool. Very interested in seeing more about the nature study materials you mentioned!
We use a lot of the same curriculum or have similar interests. It was fun to watch.
How exciting 🎉 we are also doing MWC, and I went ahead and bought several of the Brave Writer Dart guides! I am really looking forward to it

Thanks for this! I love your videos and your approach to homeschooling!
Thank you!
FYI the life with Fred books go in alphabetical order so the E one should be after D
You are a gem for explaining that…thank you! Makes so much sense.

I'll have to check out some of those biographies for American history you mentioned. Fix-It Grammar is on my radar for next year...it looks so good!
