My wife and I were both too young to remember the Flintstones when they were on TV in prime time but we grew up with them in syndication in the '70s. We met in the '90s, and in discussing what we remembered from growing up we discovered that this and the "Hi-Fye" episode were two of our mutually favorite Flintstones episodes as kids. From then on, as an inside joke, we'd sometimes quote the '50s Beatnik Bedrock teens ("Yeah, I dig it, man"). She was a few years younger than I, and occasionally when I'd make a corny remark she'd smirk and draw a square in the air (minus the dotted lines) with her fingers. Like, Squaresville, man. Four corners. Unfortunately, our family lost her to cancer in only her 40s.

For anyone who would venture a comment in the bowels of youtube, here is a comment worth your effort: things to notice in this clip...at least Wilma recognizes her husbands voice...Betty is just hatin even though Fred and Barney are blowin the roof off the mthrfuckin house! Babes fainting... catching the holy ghost! The trumpet daddyo is Dizzy Gillespie reference especially with the scat talk. When Fred starts feeling it mid song and takes it home. Barney starts at 10 immediately.
Its stuff like this that has contributed to me being as cool as I am at this very moment.

For a primetime cartoon, Hanna-Barbera couldn’t have employed a better foursome than Alan Reed, Jean VanderPyl, Bea Benaderet, and Mel Blanc. In this clip, Duke Mitchell subbed for Alan’s singing, and was backed by the in-house orchestra for Hanna-Barbera, which was directed by Hoyt Curtin (who also arranged the music for this clip)…
This clip and others like it on this show are among the influences that led this writer to become a musician himself…happily so…

So you guys prefer Fred's cover of "When the Saints Go Marching In" or his "Rockin' Bird" (as Hi Fye)?

In this episode, he sings well, in subsequent seasons it is as if a bear stepped on his ears. Funny why😄😄🤔

It’s no wonder people have said that the first two seasons of the Flintstones was when the series was at its high point, lol.

I once read who it was that dubbed Fred's voice, but I've long since forgotten who it was.

Fred"s singing voice here is a man named Duke Mitchell. He had quite the career as a jazz singer.
