rewatching because, not only do I miss empty days at Disneyland, but miss Disneyland in general, that I would not care if there were hour long waits for everything.
I was there on June 3 with my daughter and crowds were so light, lines were so short we had done everything in the park by about 7pm, so we started doubling up on attractions.
I think it was a combination of SoCal Resident discounts just ending, the introduction of Flex AP devaluing Deluxe and Sig/+, and CM sign-in being blocked. Also, since only a small portion of the crowd has SWGE reservations, a lot of people didn’t want to be there paying full price and being shut out of Batuu. My friend was in from out of state and we did EVERYTHING.
Passholders are going, but people who are traveling from out of so cal or people on vacation are waiting to spend the grand it is going to cost their family to go for after GE opens to everyone. I was at DL today and it was a busy day, but not bad. You could tell by the way people were dressed there was mostly passholders like myself there. I'm afraid for the months to come.

My family was there June 2nd through June 8th. The parks were empty! It was great!! I think everyone got freaked out about the opening of Star Wars land they stayed away. The weather was also great! We got lucky.
this actually makes a lot of sense. Everyone is only there for one thing. Galaxy's Edge. Therefore, the rest of the park wouldn't be as busy. I think Universal was similar when Harry Potter land opened.
Thanks for making these video's. Unfortunately I live in Canada and can only go to Disney every few years or so. The last time I was there was August of last year and it was so crazy insane. We would wait up to two hours for a ride. But I'm trying to save money to go back either next year or 2021. I love watching your video's just to see what new things are going on, although they do make me wish I was there right now.
They banned designated smoking areas this year....many people said screw you Disney!...went to Cedar Point instead...a park that accommodates all of their guests! Disney France did not ban. fyi
This is not why Disneyland has been empty. It was because of Galaxy's Edge, huge ticket price boost and they added a lot of block out dates for annual passholders. Actually, one of the main complaints guests have at disney are the smoking areas. This is why they got rid of the smoking areas.
Awesome! This is what it was like 20 years ago midweek! We we're shocked at the crowds when we returned to Disney after a 20 year abcence. This was during the first week of May 2018. What you are showing is so much easier to handle. Thank you! Plan on trying again in 2020! 😆😆😆❤❤❤
This video is incredible. And shocking that it’s so empty on June on a Saturday. This is what mid-day January’s look like. Although I think most local passes are blocked Saturday’s. So I bet the Sunday after this was more crowded. And people are likely waiting until the official opening of Galaxy’s Edge for everyone. And schools are graduating now. So this looks like the calm before the storm. Then everyone will be flooding the park in the coming weeks. Wish I went on this day. I assumed it’s been crowded due to It being June.
We went 6/21, a Friday and 6/24, a Monday and the first day Galaxy's Edge was open to the public and the wait was very similar to this. We were shocked and so pleased. We got to ride on everything! The longest wait time was posted as 30 minutes but we didn't wait that long for the new GE's ride. The weather was also perfect.
Wow. I’ve been avoiding Disneyland cause the last 2 times I’ve gone it was body to body shuffling and just awful. You got a dream day! I’m so jealous!!
Wow that is like it was for me in the 70's and 80's. Even summers were busy but manageable. Capacity overcrowding were only during 4th of July, Christmas Week and New Years. Nice to be nostalgic. Worth going for the rare treat of enjoying the park and everything in it comfortably. I wonder if they'll remove the block out for the annual passes to salvage the rest of season from the bleeding of incremental revenue on F/B and retail. As a stockholder I'd want to rescue at least some of the summer for the balance sheet.

I am a few weeks late in seeing this video, but to me, this is the best video you’ve done! Thank you Spencer for giving us your POV as you rode Indy, Thunder Mountain- (the last car is totally the best to get the full effects of that ride. It’s my favorite way to ride it), Pirates and space mountain. Can’t forget the Haunted Mansion. I love that ride. That Watermelon mint julep looks really good too. I’m not a mint julep fan but I will give that one a try. And those beignets look truly delish! Do you happen to know what the new flavor is (if any) for their beignets? Again, thank you for this video. As I watched it, it was as if I was there with you. I wish Disneyland was as crowded all the time as you encountered it. Keep those great videos coming!
When we have gone to Disneyland this is the kinda crowds I've always been used to. But I've heard it's been so busy lately we haven't gone. Now I wish I would have known about this lull and we could have gone!

At what time though? Because everyday is like that from the time they open till 11ish am, even shorter. Even at nighttime is more pack than early mornings. You can do about 10 rides in 2 hours in the morning, no fast passes.
That's so crazy! I went to Disney in the spring of last year and the wait times were so ridiculous. We were there from when the park opened- till when the park closed and we were only able to go on like, 6 or 7 rides because of how ridiculous the lines were.
Do you think it will be busy on july 2nd? My wife really wants to take the kids, ive been able to convince her to stay away because of large crowds but she heard its been kind of empty recently so I might have to cave in. I wouldn’t mind taking the fam if its even just a bit less crowded
Empty Disneyland would be awesome. But I still have the Disneyland app from our vacation a month ago. The app showed a very busy Disneyland yesterday with normal long wait times. We are coming back in September and of course another epic 9 days after Marvel land opens. Saturday must have been a fluke, the app is showing standard long wait times currently. Right now 80 minutes for space Mountain at 9:10am...60 minutes for Radiator Racer, 20 for Indiana Jones that's good, 30 for Matterhorn That's good. Just sayin...
Money is subjective. Most people can still afford it. There are other way cheaper parks in California like Six Flags etc but people still prefer the expensive Disney.
To everyone saying Disney has priced themselves out, a few months after this during the Christmas season, Disneyland was selling out and closing their gates. And that was during the period when tickets are their highest cost and only the crazy few (myself included) Signature Plus AP’s weren’t blocked.
Went on June 2nd. Dead zone. Galaxys edge wasnt that packed either except when our reservation started and no one had dispersed to the different places yet. It was nice. Missed a lot of galaxys edge due to long lines but we will see it again next year

I was so proud of my self for keeping my head up when I saw the giant boulder, last year. And atleast you guys didn't get stuck by the giant snake for like 7 minutes, I was terrified, bu the snake stiry happened when I was 8 so, it has been a while
The video is extremely accurate. I had a GE Reservation on the 1st of June and I can agree that the park has not many people. Not to brag but thanks to the dimmed attendance my family and I were able to ride literally every single ride in the park including Smugglers Run 3 times and Space Mountain 2 times. Looks like GE is doing its job both to provide an amazing experience and to also continue to spread out the density of attendance through the park.

It looks like Disneyland is going out of business and this is what happen when you raise the ticket prices, food, beverages, & merchandise. It might get busier when Galaxy’s Edge is open to everyone after the reservation window ends.

Last year IN MAY every ride was like an hour or more and you barley could walk on how crowed it was. This right here will be a dream👍👍👍👍❤
We went the following week 6/3 - 6/7 and it was like this all week! I didn’t know what to do with myself 😁 Our most enjoyable trip in several years!
