FIRST! I did a small thing where i kept sound effect in during gameplay very lightly so let me know what yall think. Should i keep subtle sound or silence it completely? ALSO FRICK SHIVER!!!
It feels like the devs really wanted the 3 motif everywhere as much as they can and realized too late that finding 3 equally powerful options for splatfests is really hard. Shiver gets what’s popular, Big Man gets what’s popular in JP, Frye gets whatever they found at the bottom of the barrel while stressing cause of the deadline.
Honestly I love this question (team Frye) it’s balanced if you think about it. Shiver obviously leads the newscast and has a personality that is generally good for PR with that bit of splatsville edge. Frye is the obvious leader when they’re out doing their bandit stuff with what we see in story mode. Big Man leads the group musically, being their producer and often song writer as well. Each member actually *is* the leader of the group during different times. It’s definitely more balanced of a question than we’ve gotten usually in 3 with our options
Actually I never thought of it like that and honestly its super cool. The problem is that you actually get to see big man's leadership since it happens off screen and Fryes apart from tbe small portion in story mode also happens off screen.
@@bukenator0788 I thought that was just them arguing with each other and it was recorded on video. Kinda like Pearl's video where she swears in Octo Expansion.
For my opinion, the splatfest [Wo is the best leader] would have been more balanced if they did something like Frye thinks Big Man would be the best, Shiver things Frye would and Big man thought Shiver would be the best leader, so the Splatoon Commiunity had to choose the Idol they prefer, and not the idol they always choose. Idk if this would have helped. And by the way, I am team Frye (She is just so cute and her peronality pure gold).
I saw people suggesting that for the Callie vs. Marie one back in 1, like it should've been Callie saying to vote for Marie, and then Marie saying to vote for Callie.
That's what I thought it was going to be when I first heard it, it would've been way more balanced that way and make more sense for the characters themselves
I think the “who would be the best leader” is a good question cause none of them are supposed to be leaders. And if it was “who do you prefer” shiver would win again 😭
Well imo Shiver has shown the most on screen leadership tendencies. Plus the theme alone has caused so much drama and toxicity because it implies that it'll affect the lore moving forward
@@ShurikanBladeI still don't understand where this idea came from. Sure, it is the character Splatfest 1 ended off with, but this is basically the halfway point instead, where in previous games only both ending Splatfests affected the next game. It's a reasonable theme to just use for fun for an anniversary Splatfest, especially since 2 upped the ante with the whole Chaos v. Order thingy. (plus, uhhh, side order is likely already fairly far in development, I'm not sure why this would affect that, before anyone asks..)
@@squiddu theres no written rule saying only the final fest affects the lore plus in 2 every fest affected the lore because Pearl kept mention how Mayo won in like every splatfest announcement. 2nd, if it didn't affect the lore then they probably would've just asked "who's your favorite" instead of this question specifically. 3rd, datamine side order release date spoilers: Side order is at the moment slated for fresh season 2024 due to datamines. Which means it may be not as far ahead as we know. Furthermore, they could have just worked on the actual gameplay part first and the story 2nd which would still make it far along in development or the lore implications will he super minimal and will just be dialogue differences in side order.
As someone who only picked Shiver twice, I'm not angry at all (I just love vanilla). I keep remembering that Pearl won the last and most important splatfest despite being the least favourite, that many chose white chocolate for the ink color and that Shiver rooted for Marie to be leader in story mode because she didn't feel like it. So idk what to expect. Also, lots of people underestimate how much the splatoon fandom in Japan loves Shiver.
Pearl won because she was chaos which is perfectly fair because at least they chose based on the actual prompt instead of character popularity but like most people prefer anarchy over order so it was kinda unfair but i think Shiver has this in the bag no contest
Honestly I can't really say that the question influences people's choices because I see so many people, if not the majority, just choose what they like the most (usually based on characters associated or because of the color of ink) instead of actually choosing based on the question. Like the LOZ splatfest, most people chose power because they like Ganon, Shiver, or the color red, not because they actually seeked power
Yeah and that's a problem in of itself cuz then it's like why ask in the first place if the question never mattered? Idk not much we can do about it honestly
it's hard to choose based on the question when the questions feel awkward and not as interesting to answer as some of the s2 ones felt (keep in mind i wasn't able to play many s2 fests though)
Honestly, I think one of the three being the leader is stupid. I saw them all as equal and they all have their important part of the team, and I think making one more important than the rest is dumb, cuz that's not what they were meant to be. They were meant to be a team, with one being a chill guy (big man), one being sassy and confident (shiver), and one being fun loving, silly, and hyper (Frye). Especially in the story mode, one never jumped out in front of the others, they all respected each other and worked together. I just think its dumb.... especially now with shiver winning almost every time. Not the best Time to release this splatfest with the current circumstances.
Yeah thats what I like about the trio is that they lead as a group. They fill in each other's flaws which is why I also don't like this question fully BUT since I'm forced to choose I'd rather have Shiver win
@@ShurikanBlade yeah, I chose shiver, too. Mainly for the story mode for the next game. My thought was What if shiver gets squidnapped and Frye and big man have to figure out what to do alone? I just thought that I'd like that as a next story mode! It would even let those two have their moment to be the leader!
There are two other factors to consider: 1. The "regional effect", or what I call it anyways in which the way of spaltfest plays out, in the end, is affected by whether or not the spaltfest is regional or not. The Mayo vs ketchup splatfests is another prime example besides money vs love. The first running was regional (i.e all regions had a different splatfest but all shared the same theme), Mayo won across all regions. But in the second running of the spaltfest was worldwide, And Ketchup was able to win. Going back to Money vs love, notice how the previous versions of the theme were region-based? First it was in Japan for Splatoon 1 followed by America and Australia in Splatoon 2. Money is more popular in Japan while Love is more popular in the west, this is a example of cultural differnces that drastically influence the final results 2. How Splatfest worked and how the results were tallied. To keep a long story short, the way splatfest played out in previous splatoon games were for the most part reverse popularity contest (i.e the less popular team wins more often), this is attributed to the fact that being on the popular team meant being stuck with more mirror matches which don't contribute to the results. I'm not saying it's impossible for the popular team to have the most wins/clout but that disadvantage is still there. Why does all of this matter? In Splatoon 3 there are 3 teams as opposed to 2, and every Splatfest with the exception of the premiere have been world wide. And in addition there are additonal categories for earning points like the sneak peek and tricolor. Statistically speaking, the team winning popularity would also win both sneak peek and open categories (though this recent 1st year anni. splatfest, is an exception for obvious reasons), the popular team's disadvantage of many mirror matches is much lower because of the fact that you have two other teams you could be qeued against as opposed to only one. This disavantage only affects tri color which even then is only a single category (Team Shiver still won this category anyways) My point is that due to the way splatfest work in Splatoon 3, and that splatfest are world wide. Splatoon 3's splastfest are pro-popularity, in fact almost every splatfest with the exception of nessie v aliens v big foot have had the popular team win in some way whether dominating in at least 2 other categories or even sweeping. And because splatfest are world wide, Japan basically decides the victor since the majority of Splatoon's playerbase is Japanese. Naturally, this means that the team to go for whatever Japan picks. This is basically why I picked Shiver for this splatfest especially considering that most Japanese players are essentially "Shiver stans" going by western player's logic. In a nutshell: Splatfest are rigged because of not only the skew towards the 'correct' choice, but also because of Japan's significant influence over the popularity votes due to their larger playerbase compared to the other regions.
Japan also has a higher skill gap than most western players so even them just choosing something more means theyre mosre likely to win most battle percentages as well
I personally believe that many players in Japan choose Shiver due to her being based on Japanese culture, with Frye and Big Man representing India and Brazil, respectively. This leads to her teams having the majority of the vote most of the time.
Hello from the future year of 2024! February's Splatfest is "Which day is the best day of the weekend: Friday, Saturday or Sunday?" Shiver = Friday Frye = Saturday Big Man = Sunday Just like every previous Splatfest, Frye wins the sneak peek votes, however the vast majority of games on Day 1 have been Team Saturday vs Team Saturday - absolutely 0 Clout is earned from same-team battles - and now it's Day 2 and Team Sunday have stormed ahead in Turf War points How can your server put players into so many same-team battles unless there's something going on? I wouldn't be mad if we earned Clout from them, but it's no wonder Big Man's team is ahead when Frye's team only ever battles each other. Nintendo really need to fix this, it's utterly ridiculous for there to be a 90% same-team matchmaking outcome like this yet the teams with the least participants gain all the points if the majority of players are on another team. It's not the questions that are the problem, it's how the battles are split between three teams and how many players on the same team are forced to battle each other instead of the other two teams via matchmaking, when doing so gives them absolutely nothing to show for it - you can't tell me it's not rigged somehow if I can't get any battles besides Team Saturday vs Team Saturday, intentionally or not.
The reason money won was not because of the question. In America, love was definitely more popular but in Japan, most people picked money since this Splatoon 3 splatfests are global unlike Splatoon 2. Also Nessie won against the odds so its fine. And even though I have benefited for shiver's win streak three times, I am still mad about the team power victory. SO BIG MAN FOR THE WINNN!!
Well this would make sense IF team money ever won in the past but even when it was JP exclusive Love won and in splatoon 2 love also won. So wouldnt it make more sense if love won again when its already won twice in both Japan and the Americas? Also, the only reason i think Nessie won is because nobody answered based on the actual question but instead on which is their favorite, It still was a bad question tho
@ShurikanBlade well money was more popular in Japan in the first game but love got more wins. Now that Splatoon has had major growth in Japan, more people might've picked money and now their is more different categories to get points towards winning.
People seem to forget that Splatfest has all regions & Japan has the biggest influence for popularity/player base (Which is why White Chocolate & Money both dominated)
but Money vs Love is like the only recurring theme and even when it was a JP exclusive theme love won. Love won both times actually in both Jp in S1 and the Americas in S2 so wouldnt it make more sense if love won a 3rd time? the only thing different between the past 2 love vs money splatfests is the wording of the question (and i guess fame and timing)
@@ShurikanBlade That's true but in SP1 Splatfest which was Japan exclusive, Money still took the popularity adventage, But yeah they did lose with high diff.
The biggest problem with Splatoon 3's splatfest is the choice to make it 3 teams. Take a look at Splatoon 1 and 2's splatfests and what is the common themes and choices? Opposites. With 3 teams, they can no longer really do this and it's really shot them in the foot quite a few times where one team basically doesn't exist. Grub, Sour, Bigfoot, Strawberry and Fame which is usually bunked off on Frye. Another issue that you raised with the questions is that since they make it objective, Shiver always gets the most logical answer hence why she gets the most votes and wins. The worst offender of this was Gear vs Grub vs Fun where the Japanese question asked was more along the lines of what would you take with you to an uninhabited island? There's very much a distinct different between uninhabited vs deserted because uninhabited paints the picture that you have the option to leave. So of course gear won lol.
giving shiver literal power over minor things like wisdom and bravery? as much as i loved the zelda fest we all saw that victory coming. i'm tired of how biased the devs are to shiver.
I’ve actually never noticed the question changes during these splatfests. It makes a lot more sense on why splatfests have been kinda ehh lately And Frye won in our hearts ❤️
Honestly at this point I’ve just grown a grudge against Shiver because of how horrendously unbalanced the Splatfests always seem to be specially to benefit her. I’m also still salty that scissors lost to rock because of the gosh diddly darn Tricolor Turf War
I hope Shiver's Win Streak Ends this splatfest but we'll have too see. I hope Nintendo gives us better themes and questions for splatfests in the future. I'm team Big Man btw
You made a good point here, Blade. From now on, I’m gonna pay closer attention to the questions, and pick what my favorite is instead. While I believe Shiver would make a better leader, I’m choosing Frye because the chaos that would ensue sounds too hilarious to NOT pick!
And with the ice cream one, they had two flavors that are usually more hit or miss when you ask others about them, with vanilla, the most popular ice cream flavor in the world!! And they asked "which was BEST!" not favorite! Its just not cool... Also, I hate that we're picking a leader out like this! I don't even know if this Is going to affect the game in the future! It should have just been "who's your favorite" or have something not about the idols (cuz theres a huge bias to shiver right now)
It's probably gonna have lore implications which I do agree sucks because Shiver is so popular in Japan but from what it looks like, all 3 teams are super lose in popularity and it's gonna come down to skill
yeah this wouldve been great because it shows how much the characters appreciate each other while also eliminating popularity for affecting the scores too much
I think the love money fame one should have been money vs health vs love. Everyone wants to be healthy, and it's possible to be healthy but poor or healthy but alone
There definitely is a Shiver bias. But it's not just about popularity. The rest of the categories are based on *the team's average* skill and time played. Sure they kind of go hand in hand (most votes has been the winning team in all games like 80% of the time), but most times the mode categories were really even. If one team were to attract less people that are more skilled and have more time, that team would win. Also to note, Japan reads right to left and they alone might outnumber the entire western playerbase. Even though that hasn't seemingly mattered, their opinion does. White chocolate (Big man) won bc it is really popular in Japan, but on the other hand Vanilla ice cream is the most popular there and that was Shiver's team.
Well popularity does matter when you take into consideration that shiver is by far the most popular in JP and the skill gap between JP and the rest of the world is quite noticeable so it honestly mostly depends on what JP chooses
While the objective questions that you were talking about that we have gotten are not particularly good, I feel like the devs want to make the prompts fit more into the in game cannon. If a team wins that splatfest, it gets enacted into the splatoon world. So for love/money/fame since money won the law would be “money is the most important in life” as opposed to the subjective question “what’s most important to YOU” which wouldn’t really be able to give us any sort of law like that. Granted, this argument falls flat because of say, the Bigfoot splatfest. In that one, the law is “Nessie is probably real” as opposed to the SUBjective question “who’s coolest” which would give us “Nessie is the coolest monster” which is just a funnier and better law in comparison. I just feel like the devs back themselves into a corner trying to come up with fun questions, balanced questions, and questions that make sense under the rules of a splatfest. You are right though, something needs to change.
I chose team frye, because of her leadership tendencies in story mode and also because shiver has been shown to be very power hungry with Shiver's choice of power and her reasoning for rock and her general personality. She just seems WAY too focus on the power leadership givers her rather than the best interests for the people shes in charge of! Big Man unfortunately is a bit too much of a pushover. So Frye, our passionate, firey and generally nice girl is the perfect leader! A nice mix of shivers intensity and Big mans more chillness
Frye def shows the healthiest amount of leadership but my only problem is that outside of story mode shes portrayed fairly dumb or at least ignorant. Almost all of her attributes from story mode are lost and so it feels like her being a good leader is too much in a vacuum while Shivers personality even if a tad bit authoritarian is consistent and feels like its just a joke the devs are going with while Fryes intelligence seems like an actual part of her character if that makes sense.
Wow, what an interesting video! You brought up great points and used solid evidence to back up your claims. Through subliminal messaging, it really does seem like the devs want Shiver to be perceived as the leader and favorite of Deep Cut. I wonder if this is because they already have Splatoon 3 DLC content or even Splatoon 4 storylines made and wanted to make it seem like this Splatfest had an impact on making those storylines come to fruition? Or to make the results consistent with the additional content they presumably have made already
thank you :) yeah idk i just wish they gave the others actual spotlight of them taking initiative (outside of story mode) so the question felt actually fair
I'm surprised the chocolate splatfest wasn't mentioned considering japan has a whole holiday dedicated to white chocolate and splatoon is overall really popular in japan.
I don't know if Big Man would really be the best leader but I picked him just because he's my favorite of the three. While this game's fests definitely have some unbalanced teams (coughgear) there's also a lot of people who just pick based on the idol who represents the team. I know that's what I did for team scissors. There's aslo the ones who pick the clearly least popular team just so they get no mirror matches, and honestly more power to them. Personally I didn't even notice the rephrasing for the money/fame/love question and just picked love a second time because I still like it the most even though it isn't entirely necessary. All that said, we need better fest themes that don't have a "wrong" answer. What were they thinking pitting aliens against two cryptids or asking if we'd bring board games to a deserted island? We need something like apple/orange/banana or pencil/marker/crayon where every option is good
exactly my point, we just need fair themes and question with no clear winner or loser. This would remove unpopular teams and it would lead to less mirror matches. I do think too many people choose based on idol but idk i just think the way these themes are presented is a problem of its own. Not the only problem with these fests
@@LittleCaesar753 they should def do more crossover splatfest especially seeing hiw this is the most popular splatoon game in the series. S1 and 2 had way more crossovers
agreed, it seems like they want shiver to win. but now people are team frye. i wanted frye to win too but then the frye fanbase started to be toxic and now i want shiver to win to piss them off
@@ShurikanBlade clearly nintendo favors shiver so like her winning would def get better lore implications so yeah i agree. if i get the game during the splatfest im joining team shiver but i wont compete because ive never played the game before
Recently bought S3 to complete my Splatoon ownership trilogy and had no clue S3's Splatfest were so heavy leaning one way in Shiver's favor lol. Despite Blue & Red being my favorite colors, I picked Team Fyre due to the memes ultimately over Shiver or Big Bos- I mean Big Man.
Here's what's really happening here. Whichever team the Japanese player base favors has a huge advantage that is often decisive. In Money/Fame/Love, Love was the overwhelming leader in popularity in English-speaking communities. But Money won the official popularity category, and also the conch shells category (a measure of dedication to the game), so it only needed 1 of the 3 clout categories to win, which it did. In Shiver/Frye/Big Man, English pre-Splatfest polls show a tight race between Frye and Big Man, with Shiver in a solid 3rd. But lo and behold, Shiver won the popular votes with a majority. It want on to win 2 of the 3 clout categories to win the Splatfest. (I wonder why JP players would pick Shiver, the Japan rep of the group. Hmm. HMM)
After the money vs fame vs love splatfest i broke my pro controller in half. But we all know love is the right option right? Personal Note:If you didn't pick love you probably knew Shiver would win.
Shiver is my favorite of the trio, but she doesn’t always have my favorite options. I don’t like that she wins almost every splatfest. While yes, I am on Team Shiver for the current one, there were times when she actually had my least favorite option of the three available.
Fr fr. I was choosing between Shiver and Big Man and the only reason I chose Shiver was because she gave more leader vibes. Which I couldn't even tell you why at the time, but this video sums it up perfectly
In my opinion, splatfests are rigged but in a different way. I feel like its rigged like the Minecraft mob votes, where they choose to give information on ONE choice but not all 3
well id say thats what was true about this splatfest specifically because the devs actually have power to give us info but the idols they choose to give each option too seems fairly biased seeing that shiver has yet to receive a bad prompt
I'll be honest, I gave up on the fan base and picked team Shiver because I wanted more sea snails, but after careful observation, I think the outcome of the splatfest will make me regret my choice. As usual.
I mean what else is there to play for if you already know the outcome? At this point all that's worth investing in is the new Emotes in the catalogue. As far as I can tell, Nintendo just killed their game permanently with this splatfest. I have no faith in the DLC with how lazy the developers have been.
I didn’t need to watch this video to tell someone that splatfests are rigged lol, this was a great video though!!! I did go bigman this splatfest but man shiver is such a good leader for Deep Cut and will defo be getting the win, if not her then it will be bigman.
100% agree, I don't know who's writing the english prompts for the splatfest but they're very much not realizing how important their choice of words are.
And she fucking won again :I This has gotten ridiculous honestly. You'd think even with an extra idol we would have seen he wins spread out a bit more.
good video. i wish team frye and team big man the best of luck, but i'm team shiver even though she's my least favourite idol. due to her apparently being a yakuza daughter i think she'd make the best leader, since she'd most likely inherit the clan and become their boss in the future.
Shiver should win cuz we know Beeg man isn’t loyal to his friends why would he be loyal to a bunch of randos that he doesn’t know. Also frye makes questionable decisions. I will say it was hard picking who should be leader bc frye would be great it’s just I see shiver picking the teams like rock and power (like you said) and talking all this like “I would make a good leader
Like im going team frye but like i dont want her to win cuz they wrote her character kinda dumb. Like the type of person who acts like theyre smart but cant find the directions to the nearest mall
To be honest, there are a bunch of points that make Frye seem more like the leader in the story mode, but thats kinda hard to see a lot of the time. She was, for example, the only one of the three to use the smoke bomb to exit the arena correctly, shiver and big man failing with that. frye dances on the octostomp while commanding her eels, which is a whole feat in itself. shiver kinda smacked master mega a bunch of times which isnt that great for a supposed leader. frye is also in general the one front and center in story mode, leading most conversations etc. she also made a whole ink tornado with her eels, with neo 3 riding master mega up it only being optional probably. im not trying to convince you or anything tho, just giving my own reasoning for why i picked frye. i hope you have fun this splatfest and good luck to yall on team shiver!
Shiver just won the anniversary splatfest… we need to put this girl down and I don’t care what shiver simps say about this comment, we must put her down so Frye and big man can win again
Sharin with around wit team frye, some ppl got a strat where we jus grind pro and tricolor and ignore open bc that's always won by whoever is popular (unless we win popular then woohoo)
9 out of 10 That is how many splatfests the winner was also popular. Look also at the first Rock Paper Scissors fest, the most popular won on each region It is not that the fest is rigged, just winning popularity will give you the win since this splatfest model seems to favor the popular one, specially the open and tricolor mode comes with it.
It's not rigged, it's not like Nintendo makes shiver win automatically, people from around the world get to pick, if they wanna pick shiver let them pick, Marina from splatoon 2 won a bunch of times and nobody threw a hissy fit about that.
people did complain about Marina and Callies win streaks. Even then the point of the video is that the questions ot themes are bad with bad options that usually favor or are unfair towards one like Gear being good and Fun being a bad choice. In S1 and S2 the questions were purely subjective which makes it way less "rigged" than any splatoon 3 question
I'd like to see some game/anime based themes. Imagine a Bleach, Naruto & One Piece SplatFest or a Groudon, Kyogre & Rayquaza. They could even consider others like Medieval themes like, Archer/Ranger, Knight/Warrior & Spellcaster/Mage. I think a lot of these SplatFests are just bad with the expection of the Zelda themed one.
My recommendation is separating the Splatfest results again. I'm sorry but if Japan weighs the results then it makes it useless if none of the choices are even. I used to like Shiver but her fans and the constant wins are annoying. I pick by theme not idol, but its gotten so annoying I don't want her team to win again. And the recent splatfest while not as annoying as previous (less mirror matches) I just get tired of the lingering thoughts that its all pointless unless Japan decides otherwise.
This was a good point you made! I had subconsciously thought of the same thing but you saying it out loud made me realize that I agree. I'm Team Big Man!
I've been on Frye's team every single time. And I'm not stopping until Fests. I'm a loyal Fryer. And I will go into battle with my Eliter even if I know we won't win the War. But I'll be ready to serve- Jokes aside, yeah, the underlying bias has definitely took over the community. Shiver is the iconic goofy but she looks pretty to 90% of the player base, Frye is your *looks* goofy but actually isn't in character, and Big Man... Poor Big Man. For our first male idol (not really- Was kinda hoping for an Inky or Octo but he is the honorary first) in a sense, he is just shy and there, essentially comic relief without trying to be. It's definitely a chaotic mix as Splat 3 is to be pure chaos (I chose Order-). I suppose we got what we asked for lol But personally my favorite Idol group will be the Squid Sisters hands down.
Yeah the Shiver bias and outwards perception of the trio really has hurt the community. I agree tho Big Man could've been more but he's just there most of the time. BUT BASED TEAM ORDER LETS GO
I’m currently working on crunching numbers on how popularity effects the outcome of the splatfest. What I find interesting is that as of now, only the Nessie vs. Aliens vs. Bigfoot splatfest was one where the idol that won the popularity vote did NOT win the actual splatfest. However, votes don’t matter that much really. Only during Gear vs. Grub vs. Fun and Spicy vs. Sweet vs. Sour were times where a different team would have won if the votes went to a different idol. This likely means it’s purely a giant coincidence. HOWEVER, it is not to say that the popularity is affecting where the strong, top level players are voting for. If it can be proven that strong players also have a voting slant during a splatfest due to popularity AND that same slat led that idol to win the critical matches such as any of the clouts or tricolor, then maybe it can be proven that the themes themselves are the problem
Its crazy how these themes all have one bad option and for reference Team sour, big foot etc Big man team is always gutted and it’s so sad Theres never been a situation of me choosing between 3 options but usually 2 bc its so obvious what team isn’t gonna win
the worse part is that shiver has never gotten a bad option, the "worst option" shes ever received was dark chocolate since not many people like it but then again Big man got white chocolate which almost nobody likes (outside of japan)
I feel like the question point doesnt make sense because people (probably) look at the choices more than the question, and can get an idea of the question from there This is doubly so for the money, fame, and love fest because I didnt even notice the difference between 2 and 3 in their wording, and its such a simple question that not that many people wouldve out that much thought into it
This vid was shown to me by my friend, so I’m not a regular. I feel that Splatfests are rigged because of the results of the last Splatoon 2 Splatfest winner, which was *chaos* . Those results helped shape the world of Splatoon 3, like the Splatsvill map and Salmon Run (which I feel that it is too chaotic). The reason why the devs choose to use a subjective question was to bring more *chaos* and probably do something different and/or unique. After all, the reason why NSMB failed was because they were all the same and not unique, which is why SMB Wonder was welcoming to their fans.
i feel like the people who pick shivers team are mostly spawn campers which really hurts to play against cause theres very little chance to win at that point
If you get spawn camped then you were gonna lose anyway, getting spawn camped means the other team is significantly stronger than yours, it isn't a strategy it just happens when one team is significantly worse than the other
Splatfests are rigged because they’re global. The past two are almost concrete evidence - Shiver’s team is the one which’d be “cool” i.e. popular in Japan
The only thing I don't like about Splatfest is how it causes a lot of drama within the community. Don't get me wrong, I used to hate Shiver a bit, but I eventually grew to love and she is honestly my favorite. I just don't like how they cause people to get SO mad. It's just turf war, if it gets you THIS heated, please do not play it for the sake of your mental state.
Yeah like its just a game but honestly this splatfest is different and more toxic because us players have the power of lore implications depending if you win which brings out toxicity and competition
Now that Splatfest is over and I'm late, I do think this recent one had bad wording. Not only would it of been better asking which the player likes more (as you said), it also made it seem like it was a huge deal and for some even made them think it would be the final Splatfest. (also incredibly rigged with shiver getting 50%+ of the votes, frye deserved to win

@@RandomPerson52- well she also one most popular so who knows

We won halftime you dont stand a chance
i kinda accidentally voted for shiver cause i thought you could change it later and voted right after recieving the game and one splatcast, frye ftw!
Frye really got the leftovers until the devs finally decided they should let Frye win once every 5 months
Which is cool and all until you notice that Big Man wrote the song where Shiver and Frye roast him
@@bukenator0788 I thought that was just them arguing with each other and it was recorded on video. Kinda like Pearl's video where she swears in Octo Expansion.
@@astralj4026 nah it was a planned recording as big man canonically composed the song

Actually thats really smart because it incentivizes you to choose who you actually think is the best leader instead of purely being a popularity thing
@@ShurikanBlade Thank you

The way I see it? They all have components in what makes a good leader for different reasons.
@@ShurikanBlade exactly, so chaos won not because of the idol is simply my point.
I/we chose Vanilla because it's a BAMF flavor. They chose Vanilla because they were wierd about the color of the ink.
We are not the same.
People didn't choose white chocolate for the ink color, maybe you but not most.
@@MetaKnight964 I picked Milk chocolate, thank you very much
Honestly I can't really say that the question influences people's choices because I see so many people, if not the majority, just choose what they like the most (usually based on characters associated or because of the color of ink) instead of actually choosing based on the question. Like the LOZ splatfest, most people chose power because they like Ganon, Shiver, or the color red, not because they actually seeked power
Yeah and that's a problem in of itself cuz then it's like why ask in the first place if the question never mattered? Idk not much we can do about it honestly

Agree.
@@ShurikanBlade You said team Frye in the video so which is it?
There are two other factors to consider:
1. Money is more popular in Japan while Love is more popular in the west, this is a example of cultural differnces that drastically influence the final results
This disavantage only affects tri color which even then is only a single category (Team Shiver still won this category anyways)
My point is that due to the way splatfest work in Splatoon 3, and that splatfest are world wide.
Japan also has a higher skill gap than most western players so even them just choosing something more means theyre mosre likely to win most battle percentages as well
Japan thinks of mayo as kewpie mayo, which is actually good while regular mayo is nasty
I personally believe that many players in Japan choose Shiver due to her being based on Japanese culture, with Frye and Big Man representing India and Brazil, respectively. This leads to her teams having the majority of the vote most of the time.
that does make it rigged on the popularity basis
@@ShurikanBlade And there's the fact my team (team Frye) had some mirror matches.
Hello from the future year of 2024!
February's Splatfest is "Which day is the best day of the weekend: Friday, Saturday or Sunday?"
Shiver = Friday
Frye = Saturday
Big Man = Sunday
Just like every previous Splatfest, Frye wins the sneak peek votes, however the vast majority of games on Day 1 have been Team Saturday vs Team Saturday - absolutely 0 Clout is earned from same-team battles - and now it's Day 2 and Team Sunday have stormed ahead in Turf War points
How can your server put players into so many same-team battles unless there's something going on?
Also the new regions that get to play this might have made some difference.
@@thesavageone8685 that is true especially with how they changed the points system recently.
People seem to forget that Splatfest has all regions & Japan has the biggest influence for popularity/player base (Which is why White Chocolate & Money both dominated)
And since Shiver is the most popular in Japan, Her odds of winning should be fairly high.
but Money vs Love is like the only recurring theme and even when it was a JP exclusive theme love won.

Yeah since they have to make 3 they had to get creative and change it but they kinda failed at it a lot
And....Shiver won yet again, at this point these Splatfests are just rigged in Shivers favor

I think it would have been neat if they had each person’s team be a different person, like Shiver’s team being for Frye as the leader
yeah this wouldve been great because it shows how much the characters appreciate each other while also eliminating popularity for affecting the scores too much
Confirmed that Splatoon devs are Shiver simps
Well they did design her 😳
I think the love money fame one should have been money vs health vs love. Everyone wants to be healthy, and it's possible to be healthy but poor or healthy but alone
thats actually aa great theme especially cuz fame is in no way important in life while health is
There definitely is a Shiver bias.
Imagine thinking half of these squidiots actually vote based on the question being asked rather than the idol leading the team.
Imagine being so dramatic about a Splatfest in which all the players regardless of the option that they chose, still manage to win prizes
okay honestly idk why people be taking splatfests so seriously its just a game and most porbably forgot about it already

Hmm. HMM)

i know i don't have much to add but i wanna say that i completely agree and that you basically put my opinion in words that i didn't know how to lmao
maybe im secretly your thoughts personified
if big man loses
my lawyer has advised i don't finish this joke
If my lawyer loses, big man will finish the joke
And she fucking won again :I This has gotten ridiculous honestly. You'd think even with an extra idol we would have seen he wins spread out a bit more.
HONESTLY BRUH it couldve been more even but instead they just gave us more biased questions
good video. i wish team frye and team big man the best of luck, but i'm team shiver even though she's my least favourite idol. due to her apparently being a yakuza daughter i think she'd make the best leader, since she'd most likely inherit the clan and become their boss in the future.
I'm team Frye but I want Shiver to win because she clearly is the most leaderly
@@ultravoiid I agree with this but my problem is that all these qualities are COMPLETELY lost outside of story mode which bothers me
Shiver just won the anniversary splatfest… we need to put this girl down and I don’t care what shiver simps say about this comment, we must put her down so Frye and big man can win again
i just hoep the next quesition is fair
Sharin with around wit team frye, some ppl got a strat where we jus grind pro and tricolor and ignore open bc that's always won by whoever is popular (unless we win popular then woohoo)
it makes sense cuz pro is by far not popular whatsoever
Also, Japan has so much power over the splatfests. And shiver is based off of Japan
9 out of 10
That is how many splatfests the winner was also popular.
Look also at the first Rock Paper Scissors fest, the most popular won on each region
It is not that the fest is rigged, just winning popularity will give you the win since this splatfest model seems to favor the popular one, specially the open and tricolor mode comes with it.
You didn't take in consideration that some or most people don't even read the questions they just assume it's whatever there favorite is XD
And the recent splatfest while not as annoying as previous (less mirror matches) I just get tired of the lingering thoughts that its all pointless unless Japan decides otherwise.
yeah honestly people just also need to simply read the question before choosing as well
This was a good point you made! I had subconsciously thought of the same thing but you saying it out loud made me realize that I agree. I'm Team Big Man!
WHEN YOU HAVE THE NATE ON YOUR SIDE THATS WHEN YOU KNOW YOUR OPINION IS VALID
I've been on Frye's team every single time. And I'm not stopping until Fests. I'm a loyal Fryer. And I will go into battle with my Eliter even if I know we won't win the War. But I'll be ready to serve-
Jokes aside, yeah, the underlying bias has definitely took over the community.
I suppose we got what we asked for lol
But personally my favorite Idol group will be the Squid Sisters hands down.
If it can be proven that strong players also have a voting slant during a splatfest due to popularity AND that same slat led that idol to win the critical matches such as any of the clouts or tricolor, then maybe it can be proven that the themes themselves are the problem
i feel like people think popularity is a big aspect but its only 8pts
This dude is digging way too deep into this Nintendo is definitely not thinking any of this
Wait y’all read the questions 💀💀💀💀💀
They rigged towards big man
he always win 💀
Big man has won like 2 I think just Water and White Chocolate
Its crazy how these themes all have one bad option and for reference
Team sour, big foot etc
Big man team is always gutted and it’s so sad
Theres never been a situation of me choosing between 3 options but usually 2 bc its so obvious what team isn’t gonna win
the worse part is that shiver has never gotten a bad option, the "worst option" shes ever received was dark chocolate since not many people like it but then again Big man got white chocolate which almost nobody likes (outside of japan)
I feel like the question point doesnt make sense because people (probably) look at the choices more than the question, and can get an idea of the question from there
This is doubly so for the money, fame, and love fest because I didnt even notice the difference between 2 and 3 in their wording, and its such a simple question that not that many people wouldve out that much thought into it
This vid was shown to me by my friend, so I’m not a regular.
If you get spawn camped then you were gonna lose anyway, getting spawn camped means the other team is significantly stronger than yours, it isn't a strategy it just happens when one team is significantly worse than the other
its also just turf war that encourages spawn camping
Would have been nice if Shiver was team Big Man, Frye was team Shiver, and Big Man being team Frye.
Also, bring back regional splatfests, its super unfair how japan gets to dictate the result of every splatfest
The Zelda noises remind me of the time when I played breath of the wild and breathed all over the wild. Opinion splatfests were Frye (fire)
what about when you teared all ove the kingdom?
@@ShurikanBlade ove 🗿

Splatfests are rigged because they’re global. The past two are almost concrete evidence - Shiver’s team is the one which’d be “cool” i.e. popular in Japan
well popularity vote is only 8pts which is the 2nd least amount but also the skill gap between JP and the other regions is kinda big
If frye fans wanted to win why did they deliberately add votes for shiver on alts?
