AWESOME video, I cringed when I seen the crew having to dig out switches from the snow since I have been doing that throughout my railroad career with the CP. Thanks for sharing this with us all.
Wow that was a great watch and man did you really get some material there that we all can look on in the years to come and reminisce about what used to be so great! The action you caught with #18 using that plow to clear snow was just fantastic!
Thanks Dan. I will never forget those trips. I was 33, working in radio and had just bought my first semi-professional (Sony DVX2100) camcorder. Pentrex used this footage in their "Extreme Steam II" DVD and that led to me launching 7idea Productions. Eventually I would quit my radio job and pursue this full time. Going on 14 years now!
@@7ideaproductions Wow very cool! I can definitely see why they were interested in using the footage. You've served the railroad and railfan community well with your quality work over all those years!
My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🚂🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚊🚝🚞🚋🛤 they're one of his favorite things in the whole world 🌎. He finds the McCloud River Railroad very interesting and hopes that real soon or sooner than soon that the entire railroad is rebuilt and used again for both freight and passenger trains but he does not want that to be wishful thinking he wants it to be a reality!
7/20/2022 This was nice video about a remarkable short line/logging/lumber rail road. There is a book written about this rail road's history (from the 70's). I believe that you can still find it. I had a copy, which I gave to a friend, now he won't give it back. I don't blame him. ;=)
To me, this is the REAL northern California, full of history, both good and bad. Often people refer to Northern California as SFO, Sacramento, etc. Real Northern California is north of SFO and Sacramento. It is sad to see how it is changing so much.
#25 is alive and well on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railway in Garibaldi, Oregon. The #18 is down on the Virginia and Truckee in Carson City, Nevada. Not sure what became of the #19 that ran in Cottage Grove and the Yreka Western in Yreka, California.
No but I did make this footage available to Pentrex, if it looks familiar. Their program "Extreme Steam II" includes a lot of what you see here in the final segment.
Yes that was the first footage I ever made $$ on. What Pentrex paid me for it didn't even begin to pay for the new SONY camera I was using at that time, but it ignited the passion in me to produce railroad videos. Wow! Almost exactly 20 years ago! How time flies.
You are absolutely right! They used most of my footage from those two events in the final segment of Extreme Steam II. I was just starting to film trains back in 2004 and it was a huge honor for me to have Pentrex use some of my stuff.
I’ll create a movie similar to stand by me in terms of creating a train movie that has different people running but the main difference is the age group of the characters and the different personalities.
This is wild, I was on this trip with my Dad!
Omg i miss this railroad 💔

Digging switches does not look like the most romantic part of railroading.
@@7ideaproductions No not really, There would be times my crew and I would rather be changing out rail or something rather than cleaning out switches.
Thank you so much for this wonderful view of a truly great railroad
TRAAAAAAIN!
That bridge looks familiar. It looks like the same bridge from the movie “Stand by me” train bridge scene 3:16
You didn’t hear them talk about that when they showed it?…

3:06 train! 3:29 vern hugs the tracks and then he gets up 6:41
I wish some TH-cam channel showed McCloud Number 25# on that bridge😭
What a great video!!
Thank you very much!

I miss seeing the Bear go by my house in the 70s :(
Its sad that this line is all gone now.
I actually drove by that bridge from Stand By Me a couple days ago while i was heading north.
Does anyone know who bought the locomotives?

If you are referring to Pine Across the Mountain, yes excellent book.
It is sad that most of the McCloud Railroad is gone now.
I am a train 🚆and I approve this video

Completely agree with you. I have always enjoyed visiting this part of the state.
@@7ideaproductions it is a different world up there. I love the area.
That viaduct bridge is from Stand By Me(1986).
The # 25 went to OCSR in Garibaldi. The #18 went to V&T in Carson City. Does anyone know what became of #19?
Remember stand by me
Yes that is the bridge.
🔥
Wait but what happened to the locomotives i really hope they still live

Say @7idea Productions..... since you partook in those two events in 2004 and 2005.... did you also meet the Pentrex camera crew there as well?
No but I did make this footage available to Pentrex, if it looks familiar. Their program "Extreme Steam II" includes a lot of what you see here in the final segment.
@@7ideaproductions Ah. :)
Heh.... I happen to have Extreme Steam II btw. :)
I Have Extreme Steam 1 and Extreme Steam 2.
Apparently they are supposed to be opening back up but for storage purposes.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I remember that From Extreme Steam 2.

You guys should do a documentary about a railroad like the N-C-O.
I'm pretty sure some of this footage came from Pentrex's Extreme Steam 2 dvd as I recognize about 90% of the footage of 18 in this vid.

@@7ideaproductions wow, what an impressive story.
Wait so why did they get rid of the tracks where the stand by me bridge is?
She's at v&t now
I've been meaning to go see her.
