In recent years, Michael has criticized Rudolf at every opportunity, but it was Rudolf and the Scorpions that helped Michael out when he was in a slump in the mid-1990s.
@sabbster1157 - I assume the word you’re looking for is steal, but you’d be wrong. By his own admission, Michael GAVE Rudolf the publishing for Coast to Coast. Michael is a freakishly talented musician, but he’s full of shit about most of what he says. For instance, he said Rudolf copied his look with the Flying V, but Rudolf played the V before Michael and Michael’s first V originally belonged to Rudolf. As someone who spent some significant time with both Michael’s and Scorpions’ camps, I’ve learned a lot about what really went on. Rudolf saved Michael’s bacon many times when Michael’s alcohol and drug problems were out of control. Example: Rudy paid to fly musicians to his own home, where Michael was living in the depths of alcohol addiction, and put them up while Michael put together what became The McAuley Schenker Group. Rudolf even paid for demos to be recorded. Michael, again by his own admission, was never interested in business and was ripped off many times prior to this by industry people. At some point, he sobered up and just assumed Rudy ripped him off, too. In reality, Rudolf was always looking out for Michael, but did make arrangements to recoup the money he had spent on Michael’s new band, via publishing royalties, for their accommodations and demos. For many years, Michael called Rudolf his mentor and said he wouldn’t be alive, if not for his older brother. Fast forward to the early 2000s and Michael again hit rock bottom after his wife divorced him and “left with everything”, as Michael put it. I have it on reliable authority from inside Michael’s camp that Rudolf was supporting Michael’s children while Michael was living on the dole in Mexico. There was a warrant for Michael’s arrest in the U.S. for child support delinquency. He sold his two Gibson Flying Vs on Ebay around that time. Much of this comes from Michael’s own posts on his website at the time. My take is that Michael is jealous of Rudolf because Rudolf turned less talent into exponentially more money. Michael loves to take all the credit for Scorpions’ breaking big in the U.S, but that writing was on the wall before Uli even left in ‘78. Scorps got new management, who planned to have them tour in N. America for the first time. Michael co-wrote and recorded the Lovedrive album and went out on the tour in Europe, but within two weeks, he had disappeared in classic Mad Mikey fashion once again. He eventually fessed up and told Rudolf he didn’t want to be in a band playing other peoples’ songs, so Scorps carried on with Mathias Jabs on lead guitar, quickly rising to headliner status on the strength of their live shows with Mathias. Over the next few years, Scorpions became one of the biggest bands of the 80s on the strength of songs written by Rudolf, Klaus Meine and Herman Rarebell, with nary a Mad Mikey in sight. Still Loving You (written by Rudolf and Klaus) sold two million copies as a single in France alone! Michael has never had a song anywhere near that big. These are the facts. Some of you Mykophants (I just coined a term) need to realize that more talent doesn’t automatically make someone a better person. I think Mikey needs intensive therapy, but at the very least, should stop slagging off Rudolf in public, especially from the stage. It’s sad and tired at this point.
Michael was all over that lovedrive album, not just coast to coast. I think he had his hand in at least 5 songs across lovedrive. When it was re-released he barely got a mention in the album sleeve. That’s why he’s pissed off
Everyone that’s a fan of Michael knows there’s the truth and then Michaels version. Michael wants to be bigger than the Scorpions, that’s not the way it turned out. Michael should be happy , grateful, and thankful with what he got and has.

@@RustlnPeace.Michael was always their favorite. After leaving his HUGELY SUCCESSFUL career with UFO, the Scorpions asked Michael to come and record on the new album that they were working on, Lovedrive. He did and contributed a lot to the album though they did not give him credit but even Rudolf has admitted Michael’s contributions. They even let Mathias go and Michael was replacing him in the band. Mathias explained that it wasn’t that big of a deal at that time because the Scorpions hadn’t made it very big yet. Lovedrive was the album that put them on their way to the top. Michael bowed out a couple of shows into the tour and they brought Mathias back.
I have been following the Shenkers for ages and I concluded a long time ago that Michael is deeply eccentric and Ruldolph is far less so. Take that as you will.
They are both excellent guitar players. Scorpions were already great before the Lovedrive album and Michael just made it better. Michael needs to get over it.
I don't see it mentioned here, so, I'll give a little bit of background. Back in the early days Rudolph, the older brother had a job. I believe Michael was still in school. While Rudolph was working, Michael would learn new songs on the guitar. When Rudolph got home, Michael would teach the songs to Rudolph. So, IMO, there may be a bit of teacher student issues going on.
Michael has just been living and acting out his life and career through envy towards his brother. He needs to shut up and write better songs that will give him the popularity that he seeks. He's a skillful guitarist, but his attitude gets in the way, this is why he's only reached a certain level of acclaim. The Scorpions' success and longevity speak for itself.
Nothing new here at all. Not even from Rudi. These days, Michael never passes up a chance to take a shot at Rudi. Then he usually says "but I'm not bitter!" 😆
MS comes off as such an egotistical douche. He’s always bragging about this and that and how he influenced this great player and that great player. In the mean time, his brother is doing what most metal/rock bands CANT or won’t do and that is stay together, appreciate the fans and make your money.
Still can't believe how bad Rudolf's English is after 50 years of touring the world. On the other hand it's nice to see that he obviously doesn't give a fuck. He does not care about proving anything to anyone. He's just Rudolf. And he seems so confident, so relaxed, so happy and that's what probably distinguishes him from Michael.
Try to learn another language. I learned American Sign Language. Started in 2006. Still learning and struggling. I’ve been told that English is the hardest language to learn and speak if it’s not your native tongue

Michael Schenker is my favorite guitarist but is stubborn. He sounds like a guy who just can't let go. It would be great if he could forget the past and do an album with the two people he hates, his Brother and Phil Mogg.
I think Michael Schenker shoots himself in the foot here. UFO is officially over and Scorpions are on their last leg (the main guys are getting very old). Michael Schenker has a few years in him but few of his Michael Schenker Fest, Michael Schenker Group, Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock or other projects reaches a bigger audience. To get along and maybe be a guest with Scorpions live would benefit him considerably I believe or if Michael co-wrote a few new tracks on a possible new Scorpions album? He can't really loose besides now.. When both his bigger bands are out of question to do something with. I would love to see Michael Schenker play a few tracks on a Scorpions show. Uli Jon Roth too offcourse.

He's the founder and engine of Scorpions, the most popular German band of all time. Probably 100 million albums sold. Plays a tasty solo now and then. Respect!
Nah. Rudolph is a good player but UFO with Michael destroys anything Scorpions. Michael is a guitar God. Rudolph is a band member. Shit, gimmie MSG over Scorpions. And I love the Scorpions. Manly the 70s stuff. But Michael's playing is another level.
Without Michael, Scorpions wouldn’t exist. Michael was the Scorpions ORIGINAL lead guitarist at 16 years old. They formed the Scorpions to record their first album Lonesome Crow which Michael had already written the majority of and was going record on his own. Klaus, Rudolf, and the others asked Michael if they could be in on the album and he agreed so the Scorpions were formed.
There are usually two members of any band that are difficult to deal with…the lead guitarist and the lead vocalist. These two positions somehow attract the biggest egos. Rhythm guitarist, bassist and drummers are normally the least ego driven. They say many medical doctors have “God syndrome,” but many lead guitarist do as well. They are typically not good team players, and want the attention focused on them.
Rudolph has demonstrated through the decades to be the most consistent and dependable of the two. Sorry, Michael, love you as the absolutely amazing guitarist that you are but the truth is the truth.
Yeah, Michael shouldn't have freaked out so much. Nor continue to do so. But when the re-release came out of Lovedrive he was not mentioned. Truth be told, I never heard of the Scorpions in America and Michael was gone from UFO and I read he was on a few songs on the Scorpions album. So I checked out the Scorpions. Side note, that turned me on to Uli era Scorpions and his solo work. For the fans, we got double. But if Rudolph would say, yes, he played on this and that then what could Michael say? But he should let it go. Michael had Francis and Herman-the rhythm section of the Scorpions- for a few years. Make peace. Barbara your sister has passed on.
Never been much of a fan of Michael compared to the Scorpions but I wish the interviewer would have asked Rudy to clarify the songwriting on those 2 or 3 songs Michael said he co-wrote.
It was on the LOVEDRIVE album in 1979...It was the album that broke the Scorpions big in America.... Michael wrote the intro of the track HOLIDAY & maybe some of the song too but was never given credit for it on the album sleeve. On there he was only given credit for 3 solos - 'Another Piece of Meat' ,,,'Coast to Coast' and 'Lovedrive' but if you are a guitarist with a keen ear and listen very carefully Michael's playing is all over that album. Not merely on those 3 solos. The lead break on 'Loving You Sunday Morning' is CLEARLY Michael playing. The smooth Slide guitar playing solo on 'Always Somewhere' is also clearly Michael,,,,And the writing on the riff's in 'Coast to Coast' has Michael's writing all over it. But since we lost Barbara Schenker ( Michael & Rudy's younger sister) hopefully this will bring the brothers together to help each other over their shared loss. 😔🙏
Where is the feud? Rudolf seems to love his younger brother. I love my younger brother too, even though we have fought in the past, I am always there for him. 🤘
MICHAEL GAVE THE PUBLISHING FOR COAST TO COAST TO RUDOLF. THIS MEANS MICHAEL NO LONGER HAS A SONGWRITING CREDIT ON THE TRACK. IF MICHAEL IS MAD ABOUT THAT, HE ONLY HAS HIMSELF TO BLAME. AND, YES, I KNOW I’M YELLING!!!
Michael goes in depth in this on the flying V documentary. It's obviously on his mind, because he couldn't stop talking about it. The crux of the matter seems to be his claim that he wrote the songs on 2 of the albums and didn't get the credits. So don't mention Rudolf to him, he'll be ranting for an hour straight, but at least he finally got to say it I guess.
@@funkster007 eddies wife was psycho ..they had Wolfie in an attempt to save their marriage.. Michael got equal credit on all writing and publishing even though his output was minimal and the brothers resented that .
Everyone who knows the history... understands Michael Schenker introduced the Scorpions to USA market. Rudolf should be happy as he has made millions off of Michael. Michael is bitter about it. UFO slighted him too..but Mike had stage fright and a drinking problem. Michael without a doubt is in a class of his own for his tone and note placement. He still performs at a very high level and is true to his artistic ways. It is a shame he could not play with Phil and the gang of final orders a few shows in key cities like Chicago. He really needs to let it go and do some shows with the Scorpions. His band could open. Michael will always be hero among guitar players.
It may very well be true that Michael wasn't given his due for the Scorpions writing during his time(s) with the band, I don't know, but to me, Michael seems to have/had drug & mental issues over the years that have impacted his relationship with Rudolph, which is a shame as I'm no stranger to the dynamics of sibling relationships but in the end you need to realize what's important in the relationships. 🎼Rock on🎶🎸
Rudolf is nowhere near Michael as a guitarist. But he is a brilliant songwriter, good rhythm guitarist and the leader of a legendary band like Scorpions.
Michael is a bitter old dude who is jealous of Scorpions success when it's difficult for Michael these days to draw 100 people in a club. He's a brilliant guitarist but he just can't let go of things. Even his claim has little merit. Michael is indeed credited for his contributions on LoveDrive. Rudolf has never denied Michael's contributions on that album. Does he really want more 'credit' for Coast to Coast?! While that tune is one of the best rock instrumentals, and a fan favorite, it's not like it was a 'hit' on radio. What sort of lost income is Michael claiming? Rudolf always takes the high road with this sad situation and has been very supportive of Michael over the years - helping in his career - pulling him back into the band for live performances, etc. Remember, Michael is the same one that threw shade at KK Downing for 'copying' his use of the Flying V. (uhhh, what now?!). Michael - you're talented - and I'm glad you have conquered your demons. But you're on the wrong side of this. Make peace with your brother and live out your years with good health and positivity. ✌
People seem to be unaware of Michael's contributions on the album... Blackout. Michael did so much for Scorpions. Funny that's not mentioned in this video.
Yeah no one refers to Rudy as being an influence. The fans know the truth. Basically if the guitar is hypnotic, its Michael. He has an unmistakable visceral feel. Its all through Lovedrive, but that album needs to be cranked because Michael is just a little too buried in the mix.
No man is selfmade. The band, isn't Lucky. They have talent. Well if thats true God gave it to them. Sad they Live a life of feelings instead of beliefs. Feelings come and go beliefs are,a fixed constant
Rudolph gets such a bad paranoid egotistical rap from Michael. I wish Michael would grow up and love his older brother as much as he loves him. Wake up Michael!
Michael has always been a little crazy, his fans, like me, know that…. UFO could have been one of the biggest bands of the 70’s but Michael quit after getting punched by Phil Mogg.
There’s no doubt Rudy is a salesman and probably pretty good at getting people to do what he wsnts, but Michael probably needs to get on with his life fully and not try to rewrite the past.
Really tough to be such a great guitarist in this situation. They say Michael is better, but who really made it to the top? I been here since 1970 and I'll tell you, as a metal head I've purchased many scorpions albums. I've never purchased a ufo album. Can't think of a single song from ufo off the top of my head.
You should check out the Phenomenon through Obsession albums from UFO. The 5 albums in that span are amazing. My opinion is that they are better than anything The Scorpions ever put out, and I like The Scorpions. UFO was just THAT GOOD during that stretch of albums. Maybe start with the Strangers in the Night live album, which is basically a greatest hits live album from that period.
If u ever listen to his interviews , he doesn't care .. about being at the top or playing arena's like the Scorpions . He did all that in the late 70's and early 80's . And did it before Rudolph .
The Scorpions did make the decision to "disappear" his just rewards and credit for songs written while in Scorpions. Serious personality disorders in the genuis Schenker clan. Saw both live in the last 2 years, both incredible shows but we'd pay to see Michael again and again...Scorps,not so much.
Michael is a better guitarist than his brother but he's got a huge chip in his shoulder. His eccentric behavior started UFO. That's why he left UFO. It got so bad that he would not even interact with the rest of the band and would only pitch for concerts, walk on stage, play the show and leave. Same with recording sessions. Won't surprise me if he dies as a drunk recluse.

Uli Jon Roth,Rudy & Michael Schenker,Mathias Jabs! SMH. Talk about an embarrassment of riches on guitar!

As much as I do love Michael Schenker, Matthias Jabs was always the perfect lead guitarist for the Scorpions.
Yeah, Matthias has been my dad's favourite guitar player since he joined Scorpions and he is still truly amazing. Years later it happened the same thing to me when I became a Metalhead a I ended stuned with Glenn Tipton of JP.
Michael is a Genius. Rudolf a Robot.
Michael is one of my favorite
I'm a fan of both Schenker brothers. I don't know enough to take sides but I hope they will reconcile one day. Simply because I like them both.

@@freddycookjr.2164- No, he’s bragging.
Michael is jealous of Rudolp and the Scorpions because of their success. But he chose to leave ‘Twice’. He needs to accept his decision. Rudolfs english is still terrible after 50 years in Business 😅😅😅

Michael is a true Guitar God. Who's Rudolph?
Much more famous & successful. Thats who Rudolph is. Anyone around back then in the 70's & 80's knows that.
He's the founder and engine of Scorpions, the most popular German band of all time. Probably 100 million albums sold. Plays a tasty solo now and then. Respect!
Rudolph has composed way way more famous and better songs that Michael. And that's what matters.
He’s the one with all the money.
We all know who's a better guitarist
We also know who’s a better human being and it’s not even close. Musical ability doesn’t automatically translate into moral character.
Rudolf’s been making the right decision for 50+ years…Michael, not so much…
Rudolf's been making money - not good decisions - there is a difference
@@cynthiamclellan6745 Michael reminded me of that old Owen Hart’s whiny little brother character in WWE….
There are usually two members of any band that are difficult to deal with…the lead guitarist and the lead vocalist. These two positions somehow attract the biggest egos. Rudolph has demonstrated through the decades to be the most consistent and dependable of the two. Sorry, Michael, love you as the absolutely amazing guitarist that you are but the truth is the truth.
Michael is better. Rudy got scorpion dollars .
I saw Scorpions a while back with Dio and Deep Purple in Charlotte. Rudolf had a Confederate flag shirt on that night. He is cool in my book.
Michael is the reason I started playing seriously in 1981, but he's so disappointing as a human being, he's a fragile little boy.
Where is the feud? Rudolf seems to love his younger brother. I love my younger brother too, even though we have fought in the past, I am always there for him. 🤘
This is old news .
Listen to the lead on Coast to Coast. It's all Mike. C'mon Rudy. I've listened to you since 75. Don't act like that.

Michael likes the drinky drink.
No, he's free of all that now.

Michael is a better guitarist than his brother but he's got a huge chip in his shoulder. His eccentric behavior started UFO. That's why he left UFO.
