  • A Tweet from BlueTeamBlog blew up into an interesting conversation from the hiring manager perspective for a cybersecurity analyst role. This stream will unroll this thread discuss all the questions, provide Gerald's perspective on the merit of the question, and provide answers that would be good (and terrible) for candidates to reply.

      The most important interview of my life so far is in two days so this video and others like this one are pretty much priceless to me at the moment.

    1:13:08 - his answer already have the answer. I took 53k and they just bumped it to 59k. Stuck here for few more months because 1 year is not enough, plus I need to work on my soft skills as far as explaining concepts clearly. I have a hard time doing that. And that issue on interviews won’t take me anywhere. So that’s why I’m here watching this video. 🙂

    Using this to prepare for my job search right now! Thanks for the great tips and especially your point about how cybersecurity is a lifestyle. If you can't secure your own networks and devices then how will you do that for someone else??

    I’m preparing for my first security analyst interview tomorrow. I feel so overwhelmed. How can you answer situational technical problems if you have no hands on experience? Wish me luck!

      best wishes on it; using labs and getting skills-based exp will help set your mind at ease.

    I'm a newbie, currently one week into a six month bootcamp. Could you recommend a few good sources of reliable current information?

      Can you be more specific? Like for getting skills or current news in industry? I’m not sure what you are asking

  • @darkarmy5878
    @darkarmy5878 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some of these questions are rediculous for "only 1 question that one can ask", like that OSI/malware or solution covering CIA triad.
    What matters most is passion and motivation for cyber sec.
    Elastic SIEM probably needs an enterprise license.

    • @SimplyCyber
      @SimplyCyber  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and your thoughts. Don’t know too much about elk and licensing so thanks for that. Also I was in the moment and didn’t actually think for a second how silly some of those would be if u really only had 1 question. I got wrapped in the appropriateness for a level 1 analyst. Cheers!

      Thank you for your content, Gerald! I just got my Net+ and am starting my class for Sec+ now. I love watching things like this on how to actually get a job after the education and certifications are completed. I come from a nursing background, so all this has been so foreign to me, yet so interesting. Please keep this kind of content coming. Thank you!😎

      @@nicolekeenan8685 I work in healthcare 5+ years and the clinical side is still vexes me. If you get into healthcare cyber theres a huge fit there if you have that clinical background. Worth entertaining that route. :)
