@@juanachares1123 Albert Lee...one of the best guitarists ever....copied by many of the greats and an absolute gentleman...don't lower yourself with those sort of comments...you should be better than that...
This is a STANDARD for all mid-west country & pop dance bands!! The surprise is that Albert didn't grow up doing this song... a Brit... he had to learn it from scratch!! And of course, he does a Great job. Rick Jolley Playing since 1949 Colorado Springs
Started as a country tune 7 versions in Tony Russell's Country Music Records 1921-42. 2 of those are by cajun bands. The big national hit was lat 1940s as a polka by Frankie Yankovic. As you say, its stayed in lots of bands books.
Just want to add my kudos to Albert and Jim Cox. I've listened to this piece literally hundreds of times over the years and I never get tired of it. One of the best piano solos of all time. Leaves me hungry to hear more. Albert Lee's best solo I've ever heard and it showcases Albert's wonderful voice, not what he's best known for, but a great voice even compared with many famous singers. But most of all, I see many comments in agreement with a friend of mine who took Albert's master class. My friend said, "He's like the coolest Grandpa a person could imagine." By many accounts, a genuine, lovable guy.
I will never tire of this particular recording of this tune. I heard it for the first time more than 20 years ago and it still sounds amazing! Albert Lee is pure treasure!
Nothin better than a guitar virtuoso who hasn't lost the idea of what a great song is. Not surprising considering his past with Everly Brothers, Clapton, Harris....etc
Saw Albert on Saturday at hebden bridge, yorkshire. A tiny venue only about 100 people there and he & his band were great! Thanks Albert for still doing the small gigs! Looked like the whole band enjoyed it as much as we did.
I first heard Albert on the album "Luxury LIner" in 1977. Emmy-Lou had assembled what has to be one of the finest bands for that album, and Albert was the rock on which it was built. And he sang back-up with Emmy-Lou!
haha I just can't stop listening to this song over and over....you have to see it to believe it that somebody can play guitar this fast and so clean...I love this
Saw Albert last year. Amazing! Got to meet him after the show, very nice man. Going to see him again in November at Hunstanton. Lots of tickets left. Treat yourself!
I've been listening to Mr. Albert Lee since 1979 fell in love with his playing the first time I heard him truly one of those rare great guitar players who doesn't use any kind of guitar gadgets boxes he plays clean right from the amp and his god given fingers. He's my over all best guitar picker and he has a pretty good voice to... Never met him but he sure seem like a really down to earth guy...
Naga Munchetty is a good journalist but she asks some stupid questions just to fill time when she hasn't done the research, she makes herself look dumb.
those musicians are in the top of their leagues. I'd already seen the pianist (Jim Cox) playing with Mark Knopfler in the A Night in London DVD so I already knew the guy was amazing. As for Albert Lee... it's impossible to get better than that
It's impossible for me to figure out the reason why. Because you might not like it, but you just don't do it. But doing it means that you really got mad after hearing it.
Some git-heroes hesitate surrounding themselves with high class musicians - they fear someone might steal the show. Not so Albert: He loves having outstanding piano players in his band. This video is an example.
Albert, are you ever going to learn how to play that bloody thing? Don't even get me started on the piano solo. Seriously, that was friggin' awesome. Nice to see Sterling Ball there to on Bass.
Albert Lee is one of my all time favourite guitar players in the world. Wish I could play like that. Think I'll go burn my guitar now... Lol... Keep up the good work. Albert.
Please don't do that Larry! That's the way I used to feel about great musicians miles ahead of me. Just think about it as something inspirational instead.
How in the world could anyone thumbs down this video ? Every time he plays, Albert Lee gives a master class...and I always watch, I love it, the song and the playing, all of it !
The sign of a truly great player is when you can say that no one else sounds like them. You know it's Albert when you hear those loose strings. A monster and I love him. Just crazy about all the shit he loves to cover too. The SHIT.
Instead of comparing, enjoy both. Albert is more "fingerish", while Eric is a better songwriter and singer, and plays more styles. Enjoy the 5 years they were together (79-83), there are many gigs bootlegs in Yt
Albert Lee is the finest guitarist in Nashville as far as I'm concerned. Someone commented that this sounded a little jazzy and on this version, it likely just the changes. I've seen Albert do this tune jazzy and it would have a lot of jazz players quaking in their boots. He can play anything and everything and play it well.
And, he is just the sweetest guy ever. Sometimes, it's like he doesn't even recognize what a musical genius he is. He just wants to get out there and play.
I first saw Albert Many years ago playing along side them with my Band "Burnt Ash" the Country Band, Not the Rock outfit who pinched our name, at that time he was playing with John Derek and Country Fever. He's amazing! and he's a Brit!
I could watch Albert play the guitar 24 hours a day. What a treasure.
He's is 80 now. Time Flys. Thanks, Al, for your teaching, brother. You are one of the best.😊
Albert Lee is the best, I didn't know he could sing so well. His solo licks are a libaray of licks.
That piano is the most understated and brilliant solo and backing I have heard.
Albert Lee turns everything he does into gold.
So true and well spotted ....
Damn right, sir! The great Jim Cox on piano here!
I agree, but just listen to him on Eric Clapton Unplugged, brilliant
True
He would have continued to play that solo but the key were starting to smoke.
How can you not love this man and his music????

Jim Cox, played with M. Knopfler for a while...

That is no lie! Are used to have this teaching video, and just took for granted how off the scale this piano player is!
Great musicians eventually get together. Since Cream times, and long before, to nowadays. (and viceversa! 🤔😅
He's a genius as a musician, one in a million as a person!

gotta say that piano solo is killer
I like Albert lee too....I only recently discovered his stuff....better late than never...
Get some of Emmylou Harris albums when he took over from James Burton, he does some awesome stuff in the hot band......its all on youtube too.
Albert was with the Everly Brothers a longass time
JIm Cox on piano is now playing in Mark Knopflers band.
That makes total sense to me after what I heard
Albert is a unique genius of his genre!!
I can never, never get tired of this....albert lee is beyond good

A guitarist's guitarist, guys of all genres dig Albert Lee.
Indeed. Yours truly, a guitarist.
A pure master class in music

I dream of seeing Albert Lee in a small UK venue. Must have been
heaven musically so close !
not only plays, his singing is very soulful to me. In the five years he toured with Eric, he used to sing wonderfully powerfull. Both

Everyone in the band was interchangeable except for little Albert!!!
I tried playing like Albert but failed as I dont have the same amount of notes on my guitar ! Brilliant as ever.
Rookie mistake... you need to buy the preloaded guitar with the extra note package.
A great group of brilliant musicians. Thank you!
Man can this guy cook!!! I didn't know he could sing but he does a great job of that too.
i love his singing.....its perfect for what he does....cherish his two early solo records....my style

Albert (nonplussed): "Er, no."
Naga Munchetty is a good journalist but she asks some stupid questions just to fill time when she hasn't done the research, she makes herself look dumb.
WildPhotoShooter She's good at her job, I'll grant you that - but that stunning faux pas aimed at Albert was pretty ill-advised.
