I miss old vocalist’s lows and breakdowns 🥹
The "other guy" (guitarist) is Pierre Danel. He's in a band called Kadinja and the guitar work from both him and Quentin Godet (a guitarist also in Ten56) is on a whole other level. Massively underrated band and highly encourage anyone reading this to check them out. Songs I'd recommend are "GLHF" for the more technical and "Til the Ground Disappears" for the absolutely insane. Other great tracks: "From The Inside", "The Modern Rage", "Empire"
Kadinja is so dope
Kadinja is amazing, and so is Ten56. Fun fact, Nico (the bass player for Novelists) is also in Ten56.
He's permanent in Novelists now, could be interesting

I desperately hope Nic one day discovers the beauty of The Dali Thundering Concept, the greatest french band ever
I think Flo was in Kadinja before. Also, Pierre works with Matteo (ex vocal of Novelists) in Sal3m.
I'm really digging their change in direction, with its blues influences and overall amped up energy. I do feel these new tracks still struggle with their sometimes awkward transitions. The breakdown into chorus in "Lost Cause", the verse into pre-chorus (albeit a really cool pre-chorus) in "Do you really want to know", and the first solo into chorus in this track. I think "Terrorist" avoids this issue, and is probably my favorite of their new releases. Still very excited for the future of this band.

Couldn’t have said it better. Love Novelists but I do think a couple of the transitions are the only small niggling issues 👍🏻
They've always had a bluesy influence. You can really tell in the leads/solo. When I was learning the Gravity solo, I was surprised with how many blues licks that were strung together. Pentatonic's are timeless.

Flo is just UNDERRATED. He do a fine solo without sounding too complex, and he definitely has a pretty tasty melodic choice.

I don’t dislike novelists but it is kind annoying to see all the potential being put into really simple songs
Saw this band with Bury Tomorrow and August Burns Red, they took the tour with 6 weeks notice and no vocalist and they killed it. Instantly fell in love with them even as an instrumental set. So cool!
That final solo *NEEDED* to be longer, I got the exact same expression as you when it suddenly cut off, Nik.
It's got a cool groove and the chorus is catchy, but what the heck man, end it on a high note!
Found out about Novelists back in 2016-2017 w/ “Immedicable” and was instantly hooked. Mattéo Gelsomino has since been one of my favorites vocalists of the genre. I was def. surprised and unsatisfied when I heard de decided to quit the band, but listening to these new songs w/ the new vocalists (ex-Alazka), I can def. see myself enjoying this new album. They’re def. experimenting w/ new things, which we can see w/ the poppy vibes, electronics, guitar solos and even Nico doing backing vocals; but it adds a cool touch to this new chapter of them. I’m hopeful this new album won’t disappoint.

Novelists stocks just skyrocketed by having Pierre in the band. I'd be shocked if songs didn't have AT LEAST 3 solos per songs now, the guy is insanely talented.
Too bad they are turning all the technical guitar work all the way down for this album... which is fucking stupid as hell when you just got Pierre to join. I'm sure there will be great solos, but I need the riffs

nik, you NEED to check out "escape the dream" by killing your idols. even if you don't react to them and just listen on your own time, I can say without a doubt that they have one of the best breakdowns of the past year (besides crystal lake obviously). you'll be dumbstruck!

I absolutely agree. Don’t get me wrong I like the new stuff but souvenirs was peak novelists for me tbh. Just goes to show that not everything can stay the same. Hopefully they bring back some souvenirs type songs on this record
