How in the Hell is John Petrucci not on here? Have you ever listened to the In the Name of God guitar solo? Or A Nightmare to Remember by Dream Theater?
Paul Gilbert and Buckethead make it look effortless. Those two are by far faster than anyone else. I think Buckethead has more in the tank but chooses not to sacrifice melody.

Two of these stood out to me (as a guitarist), MAB and Paul Gilbert. Both insanely talented but more importantly both very very humble and talented teachers over their whole careers. I'm not saying the others on the list are not, but MAB+PG are the ones TH-cam is filled with :)
well i agree with loudwire but damn Batio can play left and right hands and can play any angle... Paul Gilbert is number 1 beacuse he mastered the picking techniques and he plays clean
In the occasional moments when Yngwie’s mind drifts away from self love he actually gets some feeling into his playing. When the mental picture of himself comes back into his head his music becomes mechanical once again!
Jason Richardson, Tosin Abasi, Angel Vivaldi, Andy James... Jason RIchardson - Titan or his Guest Solo in Aviator (Polyphia) Tosin Abasi - Wave of Babies, Song of Soleman, CAFO... the first Shred in Somnarium.. Angel Vivaldi - not fastest, but still good metal guitarist, Martian Winter, good stuff. Andy James - Angel of Darkness I am sad to see them no on the "fastest Metal guitarists" list. Woah! Michael Angelo Batio came to my towns festival one year when I was younger playing his double guitar. Probably the craziest thing I've ever seen in person in my life.
Gilberts the best, but Petrucci is likely prime for prime at least as fast if not barely faster slightly, comparing both of them at like age 20 is just to close to call really.
Steve vai will express his emotions by dramatising on stage. Buckethead let's the guitar notes express themselves. Don't mix them up, there's no comparison between Vai and buckethead, respect to both of them but simply there isn't comparison

@@JoriMikke78 I so agree, I find it a tragedy he gets put in the same category of these others... I commented earlier that if I am looking for fast licks and lots of it, I am not turning to most of these folks but Yngwie is the guy you can just listen to for hours playing technical and fast licks... Maybe Zakk, Herman or Batio after that.
I’d like to see an updated list with petrucci, lucas mann, and jason richardson

Lukas Mann is amazing
Lucas 🤤
Some people play to god but I pray to Lucas

>Clicks on video purely about being stupidly fast
>Complain that they don't sound good because there's no musicality
>Doesn't know about rest of the guitarists' catalogues outside of this video that make them great outside of their speeds
Yep. One of my favorite Buckethead albums is Colma, because it is melodic and soothing, nary a shred to be found.
But this list is awful to listen to. Man I love some of them, but damn listening to this video was boring.
All the people here sounded good but kat
@@alexlogan124 This is the first time I've even heard of Kat. Not sure what the deal with that is with other shred guys to choose from.
That is funny and includes me lol. You gotta admit. Being fast. Is a dumb metric. There's kids on TH-cam and world records who have crushed the speed of any of these guitarists but it sounds like a dysfunctional atari game
Paul Gilbert isn't only shredding fast but also does a lot of things at the same time. That's showmanship for you.
THAT was Herman li’s clip? He’s easily played twice as fast as that. That was the single worst clip you could have picked
What song was that?
If you are into speed, check out Jason Richardson.
his Song Titan, and his guest solo on Polyphia's "Aviator" are a wicked mix of speed and groove.
@@dennislathouwers5725 three hammers I believe
YES EXACKT
Seems to me that at least Herman was on time and in tune. (And in the given clips, i would say that doesnt hold for everybody)
Holy shit, that guitar face from Buckethead is insane
Watching Jason Becker is that much harder knowing that even at that moment he was already on an unavoidable path. Bittersweet to watch.
Some respect to Jason Becker ???!!! No comparisons with Bucketthead ....

Glad Jason Becker's getting the respect he deserves. Cacophony's Speedy Metal Symphony is just a whirl b/w Becker and Friedman. Great list!!
Paul Gilbert and Buckethead make it look effortless. Those two are by far faster than anyone else. I think Buckethead has more in the tank but chooses not to sacrifice melody.
john petrucci: **cries in 4/4**

John Petrucci doesn’t know what 4/4 is

Angela batio style
Steve vai and Jason backer

Jason Becker is the best!!

And don't forget he was like 19 years old in this video! Imagine what he would have done for guitar if he could have kept playing throughout his 20's, 30's, and even into his 40's!

Buckethead is faster than Paul Gilbert.
Paul's good. Like super good. But Buckethead has that speed
John Petrucci is faster than Paul Gilbert
Michael Romeo is faster than all of them.
Two of these stood out to me (as a guitarist), MAB and Paul Gilbert. Both insanely talented but more importantly both very very humble and talented teachers over their whole careers. I'm not saying the others on the list are not, but MAB+PG are the ones TH-cam is filled with :)

his playing clarity tho...

When I heard the end part of John 5's solo, it reminded me of Joe Satriani's Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing. About 2:19 into Satch's song.
In the occasional moments when Yngwie’s mind drifts away from self love he actually gets some feeling into his playing. When the mental picture of himself comes back into his head his music becomes mechanical once again!

No mention of John Petrucci.

Jason Richardson, Tosin Abasi, Angel Vivaldi, Andy James...
Jason RIchardson - Titan or his Guest Solo in Aviator (Polyphia)
Tosin Abasi - Wave of Babies, Song of Soleman, CAFO... the first Shred in Somnarium..
Angel Vivaldi - not fastest, but still good metal guitarist, Martian Winter, good stuff.
Andy James - Angel of Darkness
I am sad to see them no on the "fastest Metal guitarists" list. Especially the first 2.
Michael Angelo, Yngwie, Vai, Friedman, Gilbert... all Shred GODS, so I like to see them. This video shouldve removed Herman Li and called it "Shred Gods that Shaped Generations".
MAB owns all of them speed and skill wise, even with TWO guitars at same time!
100% agree, except I'd rather listen to anything Paul's written haha
@Anne Kakes oh buckethead is absolutely my favorite guitarist ever I was just saying I like Paul more than MAB lol
Hmm, I disagree. He owns them at speed, but Becker and Buckethead are both WAY more technical and skilled
Edit: Okay, I should correct my statement: Becker WAS more skilled. Poor guy!
No one wants to hear his boring music or look at his ugly ass hair.

I agree with No.1 but No. 2 should be John Petrucci (Just see some of his LTE songs)
Gilberts the best, but Petrucci is likely prime for prime at least as fast if not barely faster slightly, comparing both of them at like age 20 is just to close to call really.
I think Buckethead and Steve Vai play with a big amount of feel and I wouldn't understand why anyone would disagree
Well I would disagree but then I'm a contrarian.
Steve vai will express his emotions by dramatising on stage.
Buckethead let's the guitar notes express themselves.
Don't mix them up, there's no comparison between Vai and buckethead, respect to both of them but simply there isn't comparison
Steve Vai, yes. Buckethead, no way. His fast playing is just that, fast. It's not melodic. It's not clean. It makes very little musical sense.
@@Cash_McCoy BH does play emotional stuff, but not a lot. His playing is often a little bit repetitive and more about speed (more notes, less meaning). FYI, I've listened to over a hundred of his albums. Just my opinion; I love BH anyway.
