Get a ####ing sense humour. It's satire, all comedy is based on criticising everyone and everything. What, you think Jamaicans should be excepted to being criticized?
I don't remember this show and am so pleased that I missed it. I am in one sense horrified at the way in black characters (especially African) are portrayed by Jocelyn. I am also aware that millions of black people have come to hate being black. Shows like this should therefore not be seen as comedy but rather as an opportunity to study why this is the case. It is not funny at all but deeply sad. Why are so many black people using skin bleaching agents? Why are so many black girls using straight hair wigs and extensions? You could argue that this is as bad as Jim Davidson and his populist form of racism he called comedy. For a black person to be the creative mind behind this is disturbing.
@@treeoftrees7523 To the contrary, I certainly do see the point of comedy, especially good, clever comedy. This I view as offensive, self-deprecating and not very clever.
@@amonika847 I will try to see things from your view however any comedy that wants to make fun of a certain group of people tend to exaggerate their traits bad or good. Have you watched Goodness Gracious me?? It is Indians making fun of Indians. Have you watched Omaid Jalili an Iranian who makes fun of middle eastern. Etc comedy tends to exaggerate.
@@treeoftrees7523 Thank you for trying to see things from another point of view. To add context, what I see is television that legitimises offensive behaviour towards black people. Some may see it as comedy, but that "comedy" would be mimicked by non-black people towards black people around the country. And if you didn't like it, they would say "can't you take a joke?" I do remember Goodness Gracious Me and I have seen Omaid Jalili. I am not enthusiastic about either. That is not to say that there were not funny elements to what they produced but, I repeat, they are self-deprecating - the lowest level of comedy. There are British comedians with ethnic backgrounds whose comedy has a level of quality that is to be respected. Try, for example, Stephen K Amos or Paul Sinha. Both very clever, but more importantly very funny.
@@amonika847 I will check them out for sure. To go to our topic I'm afraid I don't see any harm in laughing at one's self in comedy. Let's put it this way- comedy has different rules. Most importantly it doesn't make things up. People of all races have good and bad practices and behaviour. Why can't we laugh at them? This approach helps understand them and see them for what they are. In my opinion it doesn't undermine the race. If anything I respect a black or Muslim or jew or royal person making fun of his people in a comedy. The ability to laugh at one's self means seeing this self clearly, accepting it and appreciating it. I don't believe this comedy will reinforce any stereotypes.
Right how come we have all these cancelled tv shows like little Britain And all that but little Miss Jocelyn puts on a white womans silicone face mask acting like a white women but that’s ok? Is it no the same as little Britain using a black womans silicone face mask. The only difference is we white people know how to laugh at ourselves. Just saying.
