I grew up listening to early dubstep and dnb I am extremely passionate about it, someday I’ll travel to the UK and visit these iconic places Thanks a lot GetDarker, you guys have done an amazing job for so long
big up darkside. loving the homage paid to the history. I moved to London in 2015. Lived there for 5 years mainly out of interest in being closer to the origins of the sound and where the scene was much healthier. Used to visit sights like this, former big apple records and others thinking, am I the only one out here crossing the Atlantic, taking photos outside of a nail salons, explaining the history to the confused locals... likely. Yep, big apple records is now a nail salon, folks.
Awesome that your doing this m8. Always heard about these locations in old radio recordings and videos going over the history of the grime/dubstep movement, but never really knew much other than that. Looking fwd to the continuation of this series.
over the past 3 or 4 days i've been going deep on old skream and hatcha interviews, then this pops up in my feed - what good timing. You guys are all legends forever, even over here in Los Angeles
Man i miss this place so much, some of the best memories and with some friends who are no longer with us. Every Thursday was when I started going at the tender age of 17. Using a friends brothers ID to get in. There wasn't a vibe like it. Great music, great space, great people, great memories!
@@Pyke64 yep. Going to get round all the important locations. Big Apple Records next. 👌🏻 That track is an exclusive bit of work from the gangster that we know as Distance, he wrote it especially for this project ;-) 👌🏻
at first I thought that he got whoever does like the real blue plaques in london to add FWD and I was all impressed that such a body would go for a small niche music genres history, totally impressed.... then I lol'd at the end when I realized it was just a sticker the mad lad was putting outside. loved this though and can't wait for the next one!
Big up for doing this! Personal preference but I much prefer when you upload dubstep content like this as opposed to garage (yes, I know that one wouldn't exist without the other!)
@@GetDarker it's important, because it's the future beat, no rules - ain't found an audience yet. Analog is still relevant etc. Just an Amp, and microphone with a dj and a setup, portable - party, dig it.
I spent a semester in London on scholarship in 2008 mostly just to go to Plastic People because the clubs in New York were awful at that time and I was listening to Untrue 5 times a day. Got there on a Thursday evening, my fellow Americans were baffled I had preexisting plans at some nightclub in the east end and couldn’t do a meet and greet. It was kode9 and the spaceape! FWD!The bartenders always sucked, but otherwise this was the best club I’ve ever been a regular at. Deserves a blue plaque more than most of the assholes that get one
Jesus, what happened to London ? Looks like Atlanta Georgia, or any other city. The future need not be metallic and institutionalized, gentrified, streamlined, and confining. Right right.
@@GetDarker same thing happened to my home, Northside Chicago, it looks like a piece of polished Steele with billboards. My hood, boys town was the birthplace of u.s. jungle, d&b. Now there's a sandwich shop, and crepes - I mean I dig crepes, but....

>> What location shall we do for Episode 02?
Has to be 3rd Base in Brixton.
Rinse FM studios? Presumably it was a studio from the mid-2000s and not someones flat still ;D
@@HonestSonics hahaha absolutely, Rinse got far too big for someone’s kitchen. There are many. Will add to the list! Bigup
Mass, Matter, Cable, 🔥
Scala, The Arches, Fabric, Bar Rumba

Awesome little vid! Should do one on Cable and slap blue plaques all over London Bridge station lmao
"No Tracksuits" lol. That looks like the same old mixer in there still. Why move the bar like that ? Great work BTW!
Thank you 🤝🤝
FWD was wicked, often even Thursdays for £5 if I remember correctly.
the sound system in fwd was heavy
spot 1 should have 1000% been in Croydon. even the dubstep classics spotify playlist knows croydon is the heart of classic dub
still a good spot though haha
They’re coming in no order. But Croydon is definitely next location. Video coming next week 🤩
The scene happened at the same time as the u.s. rave scene, so it must hold a special feeling for you guys. But it ain't over..........
It’s absolutely far from over! But the foundations will always remain in the locations of these videos. We’ve got more coming :-)
