Got many white labels sporting the big apple sticker used to get the 75 bus from Woolstone Road forest hill to Croydon miss record shopping especially at big apple
Wow! What a surprising upload. My fav dubstep track of all time is Jungle Infiltrator. Always knew the label was an originator but it's super cool to learn more.
Just went here a few months ago for my first time all the way from Aotearoa! This place was a massive inspiration to me all my life musically so i had to go, took the train from a place I was staying in Dalston.. What a journey it was & to hear people driving round blasting dubstep still, so dope.. Bit of a bleak place tho.. haha Much love
Pure nostalgia. Some great facts you’ve pulled up here too, the narrow squeaky stairs and the beasts they had as speakers downstairs were fond memories. I died when you mentioned Hatcha trying to flog the bottom of the pile 😂 it was his gift of the gab and those speakers that did it. Everything sounded fat on those. Thanks for this Darkside 👌
Nice one Lost! 🤣🤣 the creaky stairs were mega narrow! Great memories! Was fascinating seeing inside the building now. All those people being pampered in there in 2022 wouldn’t have a clue of the history that was made there. What a place! 🤝
Loving this series. I wouldn’t say it’s a priority as it’s a bit further down the timeline, but I think the dome deserves some credit for the legendary system nights.
Became mixing records after with j sweet, lively and blitz. Shopped there many a time, great bit of nostalgia and education. Terry was a proper pistaker as well 😂
Such a shame they closed in ‘04! Could’ve been huge during the dubstep explosion! Genre went down hill after big apple closed this ain’t no coincidence😅 fr tho what happened they go bankrupt or what? All these record shops keep going out of business man it’s sad AF. Big ups for this mini documentary tho!
history lesson AND a shot of frosted dj nips? now that's how you keep a class awake! 🧐 bigup darkside! thanks for these. as someone who'll likely never even make it to the UK but loves dubstep i really do enjoy these blasts from the past
@@GetDarker BRAAAAAAVE so brave. you got me sitting here listening to the commentary hoping and wishing your efforts really do get recognized and those blue signs get put up. there are some awful terrible monuments, statues and nameplates left up and protected memorializing the hideous sides of humanity, and then you got something truly wonderful that only exists in the hearts of a few. SO brave. id feel bad for the beauty shop lady but in my honest opinion they should've had the whole damn building bronzed and a huge banana peel in disco lights spinning from the top 🤩 🥳 accept these pitiful 'thanks' from me in the meantime, i guess! what you guys had fun doing as a hobby basically changed my entire perception of music of 40 years, and i deeply appreciate it 😍
Yo it’s tough getting proper dub out here in the US. I won’t disgrace by naming names but it’s trash. Thank you for posting I’ll be digging through for tunes.

I wish I could have gone there in my life and picked up some old school vinyls
Wax City Records had tons of old school Jungle and Garage for sale it was like a treasure chest. Them and Big Apple were special places.
