Fun fact: Brenden Fraser who played Rick O Connell was left unconscious after filming the hanging scene. The film crew eventually got him back on his feet, so ironically Fraser was resurrected.
No not resurrected Lol but revived after having a near death experience and/or passed out from lack of oxygen (aka AIR) because his wind pipe was being surpressed by the rope … he literally risking his own life during that hanging scene.
Brendan Fraser actually injured his back during the hanging scene which affects him to this day. Rachel Weise is also in Constatine and Black Widow films...One thing I always thought was strange is O'Connel's gun bag which seems to be able to float in water.
The second Mummy movie is just as good. I personally enjoyed the third one, based in pre-WW2 China. Rachel Weiz's part was re cast, but the parents are in the background. The son is a young man, and is one of the leads.

The "original" Mummy movie was not from 1999 but was from 1932 starring one of the greatest horror actors of all times, Boris Karloff. Who also starred as the "original" Frankenstein monster in 1931.
18:43 This scene still cracks me up to this day. Carrying all those amulets suits Beni well, being a deceitful and untrustworthy character. The reason the mummy spares Beni when he speak Hebrew is because he recognized it as the language of the slaves, so he offered him to be his servant

The Mummy with Tom Cruise isn't terrible - it's just _not good._ The Mummy (1999) is a reimagining of the original 1930s version, which was a thriller instead of an adventure. They also had reboots in the 1950s and 1970s, but the 1999 version has been the most popular. The Tom Cruise version was going to be the start of a "Dark Universe," bringing together all of Universal's famous monsters in an MCU-style franchise series. Its failure caused the cancellation of multiple films.
Reminds me of the Overly Sarcastic Productions team and how they all go by colors as their screen names since none of them want their real names out in the public. Red and Blue being the main ones, but we get the likes of Green, Cyan and Indigo in various other appearances
The original "The Mummy" was from 1932 with Boris Karloff. If you like Egyptian themes, you should react to two songs, "King Tut" by Steve Martin and "Walk like an Egyptian" by The Bangles.
Technically there are 3 different versions of them and 5 movies The Universal Monsters Vault movie from 1932 (The Mummy) The Tom Cruise reboot of the 1932 movie (The Mummy) and the Brendan Fraiser trilogy (The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Mummy The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor)
If you're going to count individual films, it is worth noting that the 1932 film had 4 serious sequels plus the Abbott and Costello film. Also, there have been 5 Scorpion King films, not two, although 4 were direct-to-video. And for full completeness let's not forget the animated series (2001-2003) which had 26 episodes.
The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie. Side trivia: 1. In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took four hours to apply). 2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison, which resulted in him being resuscitated by on-set medical personnel. 3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move. 4. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.
@@donaldball3245 Yup. It was used in a ritual to determine a spirit's worthiness to enter the afterlife. To answer your question about him shooting the beetles, he's using a pump action shotgun and like any other shotgun it shoots pellets that spread out once fired to hit the intended target with more force and power. Being that the pellets spread once fired he shot at the beetles intending for the pellets to spread and hit some of them (he wasn't trying to kill all the beetles tho he was trying to slow them down with the shotgun blasts so they could get away)

The Mummy trilogy deserves reactions to all three movies, not just the first two 😒 as much as im a fan of Cruise, the Mummy remake is one of the worst films he has done throughout his career. Honestly, I don’t know why he would even accept such a role knowing how demonic it turned out to be whether or not it was just a movie … crossing that line is unhealthy for a person’s soul and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Scarab beetles are dung beetles. The ancient Egyptians considered them sacred as a symbol of the sun god Rā, as they compared a beetle rolling a ball of dung across the sand to the sun crossing the sky.
The Mummy was one of the first DVD's I bought as young guy. I loved it and it always has had a special place in my heart! The second installment is very good too. You'll enjoy it😁
The director, Stephen Sommers also did "G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra" (2009). Brendan Fraser makes a cameo appearance in it. And 2 other actors from the Mummy film appear in it (Arnold Vosloo AKA the Mummy), and Kevin J. O'Conner (Bennie). Also, some of the scenes take place in Egypt. Its a straight up action flick. Coincidentally, Dwayne The Rock Johnson appeared in the sequels to both The Mummy and to G.I. Joe.
The first sequel to this movie, called _The Mummy Returns_ (2001), is actually just as good, in my opinion, and worth watching because it advances and finishes the character development and story. It's a lot of fun and adventure, and brings back all of the characters.
Be sure to watch the sequel _The Mummy Returns_ (2001), too, because it moves the story and characters forward, and is just as good as the original. Everyone who is still alive will be back, as well as Imhotep and his girlfriend Anck-su-namun (plus a few new "colorful" characters). Rick and Evie have a young son, who has a "smart mouth" but in a brave and lovable way.
There should be translations from Ancient Egyptian in the subtitles. That's what my copy of this movie has. Imhotep decided to work with Beni instead of killing him because he recognized the language of the Hebrew slaves. Apparently, he knew the Hebrew language himself, so he could speak with Beni, and tell him what to do.
The nerd in me interrupts at the start to say there's an even more original: 1932, starring Boris Karloff as the Mummy, which was an original screenplay, inspired by the recent discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. So if you want to get even more original, there you go.
37:22 The Mummy is a great movie. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz had good chemistry. A legionnaire joins a librarian and her cowardly brother on an archaeological expedition to an ancient Egyptian city only to have hell break loose when a condemned priest is revived as a mummy and is bent on resurrecting his deceased lover.
The director Stephen sommers did a movie before the mummy called DEEP RISING it also stars beni as well as loads of great actor's it's my favourite creature feature I highly recommend it 👍
If Trixie likes Egyptian themes then she should check out the 1986 pop song, "Walk Like an Egyptian" by The Bangles. In the music video, various random New Yorkers are encouraged to walk or dance "like an Egyptian".
Great movie. This is a fun adventure movie. They don't make movies like the anymore . The last fun adventure movie is Prince Of Persia 2010. The Mummy 2 is also a good movie but the third one is horrible. The modern remake with Tom crusie is very different but it is decent and more horror. You should also see Blast from the Past and School Ties with Brandon Frazer. Also The National Treasure movies.

The movie from 2017 is a mess. It's not worthy to watch but the rest of the saga should impress you.
4:18 "I asked my mother about this..."
What did Mama Blue say? 😮😂
The nerd in me interrupts at the start to say there's an even more original: 1932, starring Boris Karloff as the Mummy, which was an original screenplay, inspired by the recent discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. So if you want to get even more original, there you go.
Not the original. That would be from 1932. The 1999 version is actually kind of a remake!
Technically........the 2017 Mummy is a remake of a remake. The one from 1999 is a remake of the original movie from 1932.
During the egyptian talking parts, the movie should have had english subtitles superimposed on the copy itself. This is how we watched it in theaters.
The second one is okay, its the third that sux.
They were thinking of the Tom Cruise version as the second
Dude! If you're looking for shows involving Egyptian Mythology the very best one is called Stargate SG1. There's a move but the series is much better.
Shadow of the Collosus is indeed a great game!
I Enjoyed the reaction and “V” is a welcome addition. I’d like to see more between these two.
This is my favorite Mummy movie.
Welcome V, nice to meet you. Everything about this movie is chefs kiss. The casting, the plot and the soundtrack - it’s such a gift
Hello Blue, V. Nice video. Loved this film growing up. Nice to revisit childhood. I would absolutely love to see V for more reactions ❤❤❤
Take care, much love
I really do enjoy The Mummy from 1999, the sequels not so much. Still would love for you to do a reaction to Demons from 1985 and the sequel Demons 2 from 1986, I also recommend Phantasm from 1979, Basket Case from 1982 and The Return of the Living Dead from 1985.
This movie is great. I thought it had a lot of humor but also good action/scifi.
Everybody thirsted over Patricia Velasquez back in the day.
I would love to see both of you react to the Clint Eastwood movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales."
The Mummy 1999 is a great action Adventure movie Just Like Indiana Jones Raiders of the lost art and Lara Croft Tomb Raider btw great n fun reaction video!
This movie is a damn classic and Brendan Fraser is tremendous 🤘🏽
"assified"
it would be awesome they made another Momy movie. :'(
This is a remake not the original
The "original" from 1932 was by far the best in my opinion.
I agree the newest isn't that great but that would be the 3rd movie.
Definitely watch the second.
I mean, if I don't like cats, I'm a red flag.
The Medjai are not traitors, Imhotep and Anck-su-namun were the ones who stabbed their pharoah in the back and killed him. These two illicit lovers were the traitors.
A suggestion of react, A Dog's Purpose
Lol why didn't you watch the one with the Subtitles on tho
He's striking the match off his cheek, not his ear, lol.
violet is cute
There's actually 4 mummy movies
actually 5
Actually 10. 6 films in the Universal Classic Monsters series of films, 3 in the Stephen Sommers series (of which this is the first one), and the first (and only) Dark Universe film.@@ryancheney6841
the Original LOL The Mummy is a 1932 Boris Karloff movie
Are there Riedel glasses?
New one is with Tom Cruise and it probably his worst movie its awful. Oh the original was nearly 80 or 90 years ago . . . The one you are watching isn’t that old.
The original Mummy was filmed in 1936 .
Disturbing? LMAO! Go watch Disney or cartoon.
The second one is fantastic
Older matches were strike anywhere so any rough surface. Newer safety matches need box.
I like to see the two of you in more videos. That would be great.
the original mummy is from 1932 starring boris karloff. this is a remake. god damn. ive never seen a youtube movie channel where the creator knows absolutely jack shit about cinema. truly astonishing.
