I am fairly new to having house plants. I’ve got a monstera from Lowe’s which is doing amazing, and what I believe is a pathos which is also doing amazing! I love watching these videos to get ideas for new plants to try.
It’s so exciting when you first develop an interest in plants!! I would say to just pace yourself and find plants you really love- I went absolutely wild and bought every plant I could find and I would not recommend 😆🫣 Also give yourself grace! There will be success and failures but you will learn so much over time!! 💚🪴
A first time viewer here. On the fence with buying an Alocasia variegated so was glad to see this. I have not had what I would call good luck with Alocasia. It pretty much reflects your experiences. My albo is also growing so slowly. It rotted after first receiving it so I am very stingy with watering which could be why it is slow growing. Anyway, this video was so informative mentioning trendy plants no one else talks about. I subscribed.
So happy to have you!! 🤗 Right now I’m thinking that I’m going to wait until the prices on variegated alocasia come down some so that I can get a more mature plant before I spend money on one again. I’ve had better luck when I get a more mature alocasia when the base rhizome/corm whatever area is larger and more established. Hopefully once the market chills a lil on pricing for them we’ll start seeing them more in nursery’s and stuff and we can get them in person to minimize transitional stress! I’ve rotted so many, you shouldn’t feel bad at all because I’ve heard a lot of people having the same probs 😆😅
Thank you very much for the really informative video. I have had lots of ups and downs with alocasia and root tot and what has finally worked for me is semi-hydro.
17:41 I have had 4 Waroquenums and only 1 has survived and she’s perfect. Moist, moist, moist and more moist for her, but to be honest all my Anthurium are like that minus a few.
Listen.... I'm not here to beat you up.... LOL. I too am struggling with my variegated Alocasia. I'm doing the one two leaf action. Currently down to one leaf, which looks like yours. Ugh... crazy. Thanks for sharing this video. I found it fun and interesting. 😃
The varigated alocasia struggle is so real, mine had 3 leaves for like a couple of weeks before I had to repot it (was in the nursery pot for almost 6 months) and now its down to 1 leaf again 😅
6:43 Its sad that you have to be so afraid to talk about a plant that is why we are here as Creators to share our experiences. My view is always if you don’t want to hear me being ‘frank’ and truthful, do not watch my videos. 😮😂😂 I am not a fan of Alocasia period. The black velvet never grows, the Frydek cannot keep more than 2-3 leaves and other slow grower. The only Alocasia that has done great is my Dragons Breath and Nairobi Knight. Hang tough sister speak your truths. 😊
Right!! 😆 That’s so crazy my black velvet is the only one of my alocasia that wants to cooperate with me! Hopefully one of us will figure these things out eventually and we can share the secret with everyone 🤭
Wow that dieffenbacchia is stunning.
Thank you so much!! 🤗🤗
Wildfern said she's been watching you!! 💚💚
I know!! I watch all her videos, I about fell out of my chair when she gave me a shoutout 😆🥹💚

I’m glad semi-hydro worked for you!! I’m really hoping it will work for me as well. Also holding out hope for no drainage soil over leca 🙏🏻🥹

I seriously think you just have to happen upon the right one for you and this one is NOT the right one for me 😤😆

love love love that dieffenbachia!
Thank you so much!! 🤗💚
I have the Big Ben and it is an easy grower.
Yes it is! It’s been easy to grow and so beautiful 😊
Wow, I wish I had the room for a Big Ben.
It’s a struggle!! Just had to relocate it because it outgrew its space 😅
