It takes a comedian/musician/social(&mental health) commentator to paint a true reflection on society... love everything he discusses and sings.. proper legend as far as I'm concerned... keep up the great body of work.. informing all and helping many understand/reflect and move on with your life.. your sort are needed more than ever in these strange times..
I've listened to this a couple of times, each time I just want want to cry, because I realise how quickly everything could turn around... But doesn't. Nearly every man I know feels it's imperative to conform to the stereotype. To a lesser extent females feel that same pressure. So eloquantly articulated in a digestable format. I think every young person needs to hear this. Objectificarion needs to stop and self esteem needs to start.

I really hope this kind of open honest reflective discourse circulates around men and women of all ages. Altitudes towards women are openly toxic. Words are so powerful, they create an almost chemical reaction that create a shift in perspective. This comes from a place of inner security and love. Its a modle men can take up use. Thank-you!

This was very disturbing to me as a female to get a young male's perspective. There is or was status for girls also to see how far they got with a boy. You would also be labeled frigid and a social outcast if you weren't with loadsa fellas or have a boyfriend. That still continues into adulthood.
Look im currently a 27 year old Irish man and everything this man says is true , this is exactly how we grew up , this was the culture we were raised in and brought up in and around , not a word of this is fabricated as fucked up as it sounds , this was just how things were , now granted most of us from that time have grown the fuck up and learned how wrong these thingw are and were and have developed into empathetic people who understand that none of this is okay these days and , now im not speaking for everyone here , but most of us as adults now try to discourage that in the younger generation as much as possible , especially as far as the view points from taat time about women and girls in general is ceoncered we try to steer the next generation as far away from that as possible . Now boys will be boys as the saying goes as they will fight and have interest in gitls as is natural but within reason and within the confines of respecting people at the same time .
I went to a “hippy” primary school so when I started secondary I was so confused by people asking me to “meet” I genuinely had no idea what was going on I was constantly called a frigid After a while I had a boyfriend and we were always pressured to kiss in front of everyone Pretty much every day And I seemed to be the only one who thought that was weird? Like “umm why do you want to watch???”
Pornographers and access to pornography has contributed to this mindset in a huge way. I’m 60 and back in my day things were slightly different. Some similarities but expectations were very different. I have two teenage lassies and I have really had to examine my own attitudes as a consequence. One area it is very openly apparent is how females and sports are viewed, they play Gaelic football and are treated like 2nd class citizens, it’s rife at every club.

Hearing this four years later, I hope attitudes have changed. Had to google the 8th amendment of Ireland's constitution, and I'm glad that, at least, *has* changed.
Because they've based their whole identity within the culture he's dissecting and have probably mistreated and abused people because of that, don't like looking at it reflected back to them

Sometimes blindboy has some decent things to say but I've completely went off him since during lockdown he was crying that it's a tough financial time for him and would appreciate any help when he was still making a minimum of 10 grand a month from talking into a microphone in his room.
Hello if you've seen future episodes could you help me out and tell me which ones are decent for sleeping to? I love this podcast but certain things (like the audio clips he plays of vietnamese screams they used during war) wake me the fuck up.

Listened to “ arse children” here’s my take. I found it very difficult to listen too. It’s a great story but you use so many difficult words which I think could be and should be more simplified - though the two are not the same. I’m not stupid I have quite a good vocabulary quite extensive - more than some I’m quite literate and if I don’t understand words or expressions, I look ‘m up. It’s like you’re making the story complex or too complex where by the picture of the story becomes crammed or confused. Perhaps in reading this it would become a lot better - but here’s my thing, if I’m already reasonably literate pretty well versed in understanding words - reasonably extensively; above average ( not being a dick; trying to make a point) how are the average literate going to read your story? They’re not. They’re not going to be buying more books; you’re literacy level is way to high way to high; and it becomes cramming on the story, I think you should really take that in; i think it will cut down your readers on future books, if not; I’m full of shit, if so, please consider this. I’d be a crying shame you don’t reach the success you deserve; all the best; Love; Rob.

He's talking about the culture that he grew up in, a culture that a lot of men have to deal with. He's not doing a specific analysis of the Belfast Rape Trial
He talks about this culture as if to suggest that this inevitably leads to rape and yet fails to recognise that more than likely not a single one of those lads that he knew would have tolerated any non consensual sexual acts by their peers, no matter how much they appeared to "objectify" women.
You can say that all day man but I know plenty of lads who’ve raped, who’ve admitted to raping, who have bragged about sexual assault and none of their friends gave a fuck. He’s dead on in what he’s saying
But it's like he said if you grow up thinking rape is when a stranger jumps out of the bushes and holds a girl down, you might brag about getting with a girl who was too drunk to know what she was doing and not think you are admitting to rape
