I think some people use it as an excuse not to even try though. because there is "no ethical consumption under capitalism" doesn't mean that you shouldn't even try to make better choices like buying second hand and looking for fair trade companies.

Due to their complete lack of any suggestions about how to alleviate any of the issues that they've mentioned, I can only imagine that we're meant to be depressed and guilty just for the sake of it and not actually do anything.
This video is basically pointing and screaming at the viewer that were bad and giving us absolutely no guidance whatsoever as to how to improve any of this injustice.
If they cared, they would have advised us.
It's just callous shaming of disenfranchised people being trapped inside a system that exploits others even worse than it exploits us!

That's part of the point, things can't be helped by changing consumer habits 99.99% of the time, it has to be the manufacturers, businesses, goverments etc. who end using slavery

Instead acting like a snowflake being offended anytime someone mentions the transatlantic slave trade, you could just admit that it happened, it was awful, your country benefitted from it but you are committed to ending modern slavery (that is if you are actually doing that instead of just commenting praising Britain for stopping something bad they were doing)

This is informative by offers no help, if you are guilty of doing these things what is the alternative? We need more. It show the message your fucked no matter how hard you try. What are we the consumer mean to do? I’m genuinely asking because most people use this as an excuse not to try and to call people that do try naive because nothing they do helps. I will continue to try be ethical but I wonder how many people are put off trying after videos like this make it seem like it is all pointless and offer no active steps to help, like supporting anti modern slavery charities? Are there more ethical companies we should be using? What should we do??????? Don’t shit on our efforts without showing us the error of our ways and saying what the alternative is
this is a great video and i feel like people aren't taking this seriously enough tbh. one thing id just like to say tho, the weed thing is a bit of a stretch. yeah, im sure there has been some forced labour in certain grow houses around the country, doesn't mean that's anywhere near the standard source tho. i think that this would have been a larger problem before but would probably be a lot better nowadays coz with the internet we just get our weed imported from places where weed can be legally grown in professional plantations like in spain, the netherlands, america and canada.
@BxxDxx Hoodoo that is crap. at least i know where my dealer gets it from, his uncle grows it small scale and ethically. a few of my friends grow it as well so we all just smoke what we've grown. as for what the typical dealer sells though, maybe that should be looked into more. yet another reason for legalisation.

@@albertparish1729 that’s great that you can get you’re weed from an ethical source, but most other countries like mine can’t because of the law, so people end up going to a dealer, where there’s no certainty to if the weed is ethical or is it grown by triad slaves who can’t escape because their owners have their passports and could kill their families at home. If completely the governments fault for not legalising weed as it’s just unrealistic to expect people to stop buying it.
@@Prodrentjet Yeah you're so right about legalisation. I don't think I really realised before how common slavery was as part of grow ops but however common it is, there's definitely good reason to legalise weed to reduce crime. Also, I'd definitely recommend that people grow it themselves if they're living somewhere where it's illegal and can't be certain of the ethics behind their source.
I think the target market for this already knew most of that and there's nothing I don't agree with here. Biggest criticism I have is it gets lost as " I don't like hipsters" and Russel brand levels of earnest preaching coming off as smug and smarmy, and it isn't funny.
