The Taeko Onuki original was the song that led me down the city pop rabbit hole last Tuesday night. I have listened to that countless times since, and now I have your adaptation to add to the rotation. Your refrain captured the gospel choir sound Taeko strove for on the original. The breakdown matched the Eric Gale-esque guitar solo you'd find on a Bob James or Grover Washington Jr. song from that era (the '70s). The first "passing by" ("ima o") even felt like an homage to how "that's the time" was structured in Roberta Flack's "Feel Like Makin' Love," which Bob arranged (and covered shortly after). Anyway, thank you again.
Heard the original, this was an appropriate rendition to 4am. Stayed up listening to this banger in the background on loop in the most literal sense to 4am! Thanks for sharing~

This reminds me of my camping trips in the Adirondacks in the 90's, listening to my shortwave radio trying to find Japanese or Korean stations. I never understood the lyrics, but this really has the soul of the rhythm in it.
