Fantastic, another Mk1 video. Still got mine after 22 years👍 Realy interesting, great video and if anyone needs parts Neil Jones is your man. Great service from him
@ it’s good that people make the effort to use them, they are a nice drive to be fair. I loved the time I had with mine. How long have you had your black one?
Had one in 86 on a late C reg two years old when i got it,absolutely brilliant car back in the day, would love to get hold of an original one now, proper bird puller! Met my first wife while i had it,she got the strop when i sold it three years later and got a vauxhall carlton! 😂
It was like watching 3 top surgeons bring a patient back to life in front of your eyes using tools made by a caveman!! 🤣🤣🤣 loved it, filming is perfect, you feel like your there watching and hoping for success. Chocolate bar was epic!! 🤣🤣🤣 shame it got on the seats!! Still, Vax that out no problem!! Looking forward to more. H
Funny, I've got an 88 manual dark blue MR2 SuperCharger (with the goodies like retract mirrors and flush LED spoiler brake light) been sat for around the same time in MY garage, and no it doesn't run (either fuel pump or the SC unit has seized not letting air past as it starts when I disconnect the hoses but obviously dies after that). Was running great (in the garage only) just a couple of years back.
We would love to see it running again! If your in the uk and would be interested in me and Neil popping down to see the car and seeing if it will run then let us know.
Going on 20 years ago, I helped a friend convert a red one of these to electric. The supercharged version was chosen for its substantially larger and sturdier manual transmission, because the motor was a beast. The result was an absolute tire shredding monster, though range was limited by the batteries available at the time. (If anyone's wondering, yes those T-tops leaked.)
@@Resto.Nation Unfortunately I lost touch long ago; I'm not sure but I think it may have been sold at some point. I really miss that group of friends, that time in my life, and that conversion project in particular.
Was that in Australia? I know of a couple that were done in Australia. One was yellow, the other was black. There was one being converted to Electric in south Wales about 15 years ago, but I didn’t hear anything about it after he sold me his stainless steel exhaust (because he didn’t need it where he was going).
@@neiljones5780 It was in Texas. Interesting to hear about that sort of thing happening in other countries; we never had a good sense of what the homebrew EV scene was like outside the US and Canada.
I'd love to see Neil on the channel more. You two make a good duo!
Also loving the fact that AW11 content is back!
Thanks! He will be back soon if I have my way…
If the 80’s was a car this is it!

@@Resto.Nation I was at Humber classic car meet in august with the TT and there was quite a few mk1s 🤙

Oh yeah, can't wait to see more of this. I have an '88 SC MR2 and will be using whatever tips and tricks I learn here.
My 4age powered AE82 sat in my carport for over a decade and started almost instantly, such great motors..

Man I love these MR2's. Would love a mint one. Had 3 in the family when I was a kid
Buy another and use it! They are great cars!
Loving the aftermarket bonnet prop @ 19mins 😅
Oh boy, I miss my MR2. I had three of these over the years, one of which was a JDM import SC. Got the feels from this vid!
Get back involved!

Fantastic content....loved it
Another one !🎉🎉 Very excited about this . Would be nice to see this in person!
All going well, I will get a chance to recommission it at some point. It will be local enough for you then 😂
@@Resto.Nation I'll bring round my MK1 mx5 I got recently 🙂

That’s crazy! Thanks for the tip 😎

@@manualdidact that’s a real shame. Would have surely been the first electric mr2 ever. It might turn up one day…

I've always wanted a mk1 mr2 , on my list of cars to own before there's none left 😢
Get one! They are still reasonably priced for what they are…
Sweet sweet MR2! It looks like ot wouldn't take much to put back on the road.
Will we see it again on the channel?

NO oil or FILTER change.............
I can't believe y'all thought it would run with no intercooler! SMH!
Elaborate as to why it wouldn’t?
@@Resto.Nation Your intake system isn't installed properly.
@@Justin-hale but a turbo car runs fine with the inter cooler disconnected, it just won’t make boost. What’s the difference?

17 mins in, and not a spanner turned. Pass.
You missed the sockets, spanner and hammer action starting at 21.03
Wooooo a-dub time again!
