Great biography of a truly memorable, fantastic entertainer. I have to say though, it does not sound like a “sad ending” to die at age 91 after such a full life. RIP Phil Harris.

I listened to Phil Harris on the radio with my all time favorite Jack Benny. They were hysterical. His wife was also good too Alice Faye. RIP Phil.

Don't know why this was a sad ending. He smoked, worked almost up to the end and died at 91!!! Where do I sign up for that!!! Phil you were great!

I wouldn't consider it a sad ending if I got to 91 and died from natural causes.

Phil was great, but there's a factual error in this piece, he served in the Merchant Marines and was stationed on Catalina, and only served a year. He was back on Jack Benny program on March 7th, 1943. His departure and return are documented on the radio show for those dates, also in the public domain.

I didn't catch any mention of his signature song, "That's What I Like About The South."

Phil Harris, Eddie “Rochester” Anderson and Dennis Day were my wife’s favorites on Jack Benny’s Radio Show. And then Eddie “Rochester” Anderson and Dennis Day were her favorites on Jack’s tv shows.

Well, “Sad ending” is cheap clickbait. However Phill was cool and hip 15 years before Dean Martin. Don’t get me wrong, Dean was the coolest cat to ever walk the planet.
