love the recent vlogs guys. Me and family were there in July last year (Kuta, Legian & Seminyak) for mine and brother-in-law's birthdays (one day apart). We had so much fun, but it was sad to see so many places run down or closed and abandoned. Looking not too bad now. Planning another trip for NYE 2023 and in to January now!
Yeah it seems like things are really kicking off again! Stoked you've got another trip coming. We havent been to Kuta in years and Legian is an area we probably should check out next time
Absolutely LOVE your Bali vlogs. It has always been the custom when hiring a Driver to pay ( or at very least offer ) or buy them a meal/ coffee when you stop at a place to eat....sadly a lot of people are not doing this any more ( only thinking of themselves ) and the Balinese are too generous of spirit to ask......so as not to embarress or offend you. Great fun...great stoy telling..... Wish you could stay longer in Bali so you could create even more content. Looking forward to upcoming vlogs in this series. Thank you......🙏🙏🙏😁
Whoop, thanks Vic! Yeah we've always done the same with drivers, even if its just a bottle of water, a snack or lunch if we're all sitting down together - it feels like the right thing to do and a really nice way to chat and learn about their story. Ari was pretty camera shy, but a lovely guy! Glad youre enjoying the vids
Really appreciate the fact that you both show a true perspective of places you travel to. We certainly learn a lot from your incredible vlogs. We also tend to hire cars and bikes when exploring. Sourcing a driver for the day is sometimes a great option. Certainly in some destinations we’ve visited, Egypt, Tunisia and India where taking to the roads as a visitor would be a little overwhelming if you attempted it yourself! It’s great to fund a local independent person rather than buying into national or international companies to escort you. You also get a truer reflection of a place and most definitely a more personal experience. This series is seriously fab. Looking forward to the next episode 😎 Much love 👍👍
Nice! Those are 3 places we've never been, makes sense that there's definitely times having a driver is key regardless where you are in the world. We totally agree with your thoughts on travel too - very alike!
Really enjoyed watching this vlog. The accommodation was insane for that price and the rice terraces were lovely. Very interesting to learn about the multiple points of access and how they'll funnel you down to parts where they try to upsell - knowing things like this is so helpful for when you go as we can just make much more informed decisions, so thank you for the tip off! Whilst the swing may have seemed a little touristy, you guys lucked out arriving when you did as the shot with the long pink skirt was stunning! Can't wait to see the Gili Islands and also see how your transport experience fares!
100% got lucky! How cool that we could 'get the shot' and not even have to buy into the commercialisation of it all 😂 To be fair it is an iconic, and somewhat unique thing, so we can understand people doing it - no real judgement there... but the funneling into one spot was a bit crappy. Oh well, laugh it off and roll with it!
I first went to Bali in 199, on our honeymoon. I'm so glad we went then, it was a wonderful trip. We just picked accommodation as we went along, some wonderful places. I've been back three other times and the commercialization of Ubud and the Tegalalang rice terraces is sad to see. There are still many lovely spots, but Bali is being overloved.
Hey, we’re planning a honeymoon in Bali too and I’d love to know your top locations in and around Bali over all your trips? We definitely want to visit Ubud but cannot seem to decide on the other locations we want to see.
Harriet and I visited Ubud many years ago and enjoyed our time. But, my now it's become so built up. Did you enjoy your time there? We always think it's a good idea to hire a private guide for the obvious reasons (explanation in what you're looking at, best foodie places etc. and most of all helping to support the local economy). As always, your videos are well done, we never miss one and have seen every one of your videos right from the very beginning. Thank you, guys, for your kind words. It means a lot to us. One day whether it's in New Zealand or the U.S. (Whichever comes first that Yuki and Nalu can do a meet up. ) . Looking forward to more great videos. Sending you much love from Richmond, Va.🙏❤🙏 Harriet, Jim and Yuki P.S. We are doing fine. Hope you are too.
We absolutely LOVED the entire Bali trip, but we once held a special spot for Ubud (we got engaged there) but after what we saw this time we're not so sure it really is that place for us. Gili Air is special (you'll see in videos soon) so that's probably taken the spot for us now!
Visiting those rice terraces is a bucket list item of mine. It just looks so picturesque! I love Stace's idea of a zipline there. How epic would that be? Was there a restaurant overlooking the terraces? Eating a rice dish whilst overlooking rice terraces seemed fitting. Thanks for letting us know about the commercialism. You guys always keep it real! 👍
No worries, we feel like it's really important to share both sides of the story - not just for interesting watching, but so many people end up finding videos like this and then if they have a shit time because we didn't share something we'd feel bad!
Hello 👋🏾 Dane and Stacey it’s alway so lovely to speak to y’all. That monkey 🙉 looked so cute lol. And that food looks delicious. I know I haven’t been commenting, I’ve been really sick. But Bali is so beautiful thanks for sharing your adventures ❤. How have y’all been? How’s the puppy 🐶 doing? If you didn't like Babi Guling at Ibu Oka try any other place. I've had it at dozens of warungs and twice at Ibu Oka and Ibu Oka is one of the only one I actually didn't like at all.
I’m in Ubud right now and just can’t get enough of babi guling. I don’t understand all these other tourists that only eat non Indonesian food. Makes me sad for them.
Loved your vlog family and I are coming to Bali soon I’m concerned about using the tap water for cleaning fruit and vegetables can you recommend a solution for killing bacteria and ecoli ? Thanks
Hey Lynn - bottled water is pretty cheap if you need to wash stuff. If you're staying long enough to buy local fruit etc your best option would be a local 7/11 or mart and buy one of the massive 10-20litre waters and use that to clean stuff
Hi, just found you and the videos are very informative. We are active and older than you so not into an party scene, but I like the beauty of ubud but also the shops of seminyak and Canngu. Which do you prefer?
Thanks for watching! We much prefer Canggu but it is a younger, more 'hip' crowd which can be a bit cringey at times. But comparatively Ubud seems a bit boring and not so interesting to us anymore.
@Daneger and Stacey lol cringey ya I'm really not into the posers and attitude vibe some "hip" places tend to put off. We like quiet and authentic people.
