Do you think it's ever correct to hold a 3 cost amulet for Kaguya? I feel like even with Prism Priestess and 6 3-cost amulets, you sometimes just don't have 2 in hand which means by your Kaguya turn, you won't be able to use her fanfare unless you hold the 3 cost amulet in hand. I'm not sure why they ran Pinion Prayer in this list, but last set it wasn't uncommon to search Pinion Prayer, crack it, bring it back with Cruel Priestess, and crack it again for 4 storm damage. You have Beastcall now, but I guess you can't search for it, crack it, play Cruel again (requires at least 12 pp or 11 + evo point) whereas you could with Pinion Prayer. Also, I'm personally right not a fan of Aegis without Seraph. I tried it briefly at the beginning of the format and immediately decided against it. It just feels so clunky unless you're proactively searching for Guardian Sun which you don't seem to be since you're prioritizing the 3 cost amulets first. Seraph can guarantee Seraph + Guardian Sun which I find is usually necessary to not just die immediately. The core gameplan of this deck isn't any different except you don't take a turn to play Seraph. I've found the "tempo" gameplan to not be that strong this format, but maybe I'm wrong about that. This leads me to my next question, do you think the 2nd Aegis evo comes up that often outside the mirror match? I've found 2nd Jeanne comes up more overall and should probably be played before 2nd Aegis evo unless you specifically want to respect the mirror. I've even seen JP lists cut 2nd Prism Priestess evo before anything else.
It can be correct to hold 3-cost amulet for Kaguya, but it will very rarely be correct to outright pass a turn. E.g. you might use 3 mana in a slightly less efficient way on turn 5, so that your turn 6 Kaguya is better, for instance. Pinion Prayer is only really good vs Abyss imo. I think it's bad, but usually you can get away with running 1-2 bad cards in any given deck since you don't get punished by it very often regardless. Aegis is very good and is still the win condition of this deck. Basically you can just stall opponent out UNTIL you draw the Guardian Sun or run them out of resources. You are drawing like 15-20 cards a game so you should naturally hit it by turn 9/10 anyways a decent portion of the time. All you have to do with the tempo game plan is deal 8 damage to them, then Aegis does the rest. 2nd Aegis rarely comes up and it can definitely be cut. However, Priestess is uncuttable in my opinion, you will frequently evo two in any given game, and the card does absolutely nothing without an evolve. Not to mention it's insurance in the late game vs decks like Dragon where you can search Tribunal.
i guess why he didnt use seraph is because, you need a safe turn 6 to land seraph and has a bunch of removal spell on hands turns later which is really bad if you didnt see them that much in early 5 turns. if your prism is landed and search the seraph, your opponent wont give you a time to land it on turn 6 (happens to me pretty much) or even use altered fate to return it back.
Same deck but , my first hand would be too high cost and after mulligan it would be the same 😢
