Thank you everyone for watching my relaunch video! And thank you to all of you who joined the chat, sorry it ended so abruptly! You all made it really lovely to come back, I am so damn lucky to have you as an audience. You guys are just too wonderful. :)
Thank you Myriam for this Video... it was so wonderful as always. Love your style and I appreciate your passion and the time you have taken to share your process! Hope all is well with yo! ❤️❤️❤️
When looking at this painting, it made me think about how sometimes letting something/someone go can also suffocate and harm you. Like when a parent sets their child free, there is the crushing anxiety of worrying about their safety, and while the birds have flown from the nest and are free and happy, the further they fly from you, the tighter the anxiety is pulled, and sometimes the only way to relieve that tension is to cut the strings, and realize that the birds will never truly be free until they can fly on their own, unattached. I just love how thought-provoking your pieces are. This is only the second day since I've discovered your art, and I am honestly so inspired and like spiritually fed? I typically don't follow more surreal art and often focus more on realism as that's the art I tend to create, but I am so grateful that your art has entered my life, and I hope it's a constant in my life.
Beautiful art! And very interesting video... its good to see the backstage of an artist's creation process, since its so easy to think that professionals dont fidget around their ideas, its actually reassuring and humanizing to know that you guys also feel a bit lost sometimes, also have to go through a few tries in order to achieve the finished art. Thank you. I feel braver now to tackle that draft I abandoned, and make it work again.
Such a beautiful video, such a beautiful piece, it reminds me perfecly my aspect, and above all my moment as a painter, trying to look out of my confort zone with ink and oil (just finish to see also your gouache tutorial, beatiful, thankyou very much). Such a beautiful and relaxing person you are, nature, squirrels, bread. I feel so relaxed far away from my intentions and ego. Tomorrow will be a beautiful day of painting. 💙🎨
Thanks for sharing your process. It's very elaborated and detailed and you put a lot of thought and work into your art. Also your bread looks delicious!!!
you should be proud! It is different from your usual dark color choices but what I love about your work is still ever present -beautiful story telling that belie the macabre references. This piece sets free the caged birds but the very act of letting go chokes the life. I am moved. Keep it up Myriam. One day we will have a deep conversation : )
Hello! At 17:57, you started using a Faber Castell pen. Could you please elaborate on exactly which type of pen and the color, as well as any other of their products that you use. I am interested though right now in this pen and it's use on this painting, please. Love your work! Am a new subscriber and would like to learn more about your work with different media and brands.
I am so happy I came across this video, this proves to me that not many artists aren't really fast with producing something. I have been sketching some ideas but like you with this painting, I'm terrified and can't find a way to start but watching how long it took you to finish this beautiful piece calm my nerves. Thank you❤
WOW!!!!! what an amazing and awesome painting!!! I really really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing all your hard work! Your daily doodles are great, too. Love the weather and Critters clips. =)
This painting speaks so much to me. My creativity often times runs rampant in every direction pulling and tearing me out of my comfort zone just as the birds in your piece do. But I'm scared to leave this save space and am trying to resist the birds' drag.
Omg I need to know what pencil you use for sketching...bc first it looks like a normal dark pencil and the color changes into this red-ish color?never seen that before...I am fascinated by it hehe...💚💚💚
I really like this new style of video, it's really interesting to see your process. The painting is curious to me. The birds are so colourful and free; they can literally leave the borders of the canvas whereas the person is trapped and even constricted by the freedom of the birds. So to me it feels like an expression of the fear of what's outside. (No wonder it was created in lockdown! 😄)
Thank you Billiam! It's odd, because I created the sketch back in January, and then the imagery really spoke to me during lockdown, and I didn't even realise why until I finished it. :)
Thank you so much for sharing your process so openly! Made me feel normal. It's so stupid how we always think that other people make stuff without any effort and then use it to make yourself feel inferior... Ultimately giving up on ourselves and our visions/talent.
Thank you for sharing this process. I'm a relatively beginner artist and I've always been made to believe (by other more experienced artists I knew) that a true artist just makes the sketch directly on the painting board and just starts painting right away and never uses carbon paper or anything. In the meanwhile they were probably having the same process, but not many are willing to share. So thank you! P.S.: Lovely piece, I absolutely love your art but mainly follow your work on instagram.
I just want to say that your art inspires me to pick up my own art when I'm going through a period of artists' block. Your art style, the themes of your art, and just the overall vibes around your channel make me smile. Really looking forward to this video and I hope you are doing well! Compliments from a fan :).
I saw this on your Instagram and it's so great to see the process! I totally get how it can be intimidating to start, it happens to me too. Great work, thanks for sharing 😊❤️
I used to compare my art process with other peoples.. there are many ways to have a creative process, each with their own unique ways I love how you do thumbnails.. I dont have patience for thumbnails.. I often do miniature pictures and combine them, or i shuffle through in my mind.. I even have ideas come to me while I am half asleep.. ( that can be a problem to remember if i dont write them down ) I loved watching this.. very unique !
I am so happy you are back after all the hazzel for this video you were able to put it up!! You are always inspiring and helping us to get better :)) Also thank you so much for featuring my art 😭😭😭 32:32 @crypticdesignandart
Seems like te perfect quarantine piece. We are all like the character - cooped up in the darkness of our isolated towers. We long to go out and there are so many things we wanna do. Those things are being symbolized by birds. And because we are restricted and the desire to go out and do everything keeps growing stronger, we feel stifled by the longing for freedom. It also symbolizes our life when we have a lot of desires, goals, ambitions that compete with each other. We want to do it all and we cannot let go of evrything else to choose just one. The indecision stifles us. And we remain stuck in a dark rut and can only dream about the light all the while standing at just the edge. We have the potential, but our indecision holds us back. Incidentally, I once saw a disney movie where the birds were braiding(pulling?) the hair of the princess - I forget which one it was. And at that time an image had flashed in my mind of Rapunzel being strangled by the birds pulling her own hair around her neck. It made total sense considering the story of Rapunzel - her hair were the reason why her life was being stifled out of her. Also, how the cruel world can use our best assets against us sometimes. It also stood for how disney had stifled feminism by their nonsense. But I suck at painting people. I thought I would paint that someday, when I had built enough confidence in drawing people. But my life has been so hectic that I never found the time to practice. Guess I was never gonna do it. This just seems like you have brought my idea to life (I mean it was your original Idea but it is so close to the thought I had, you have captured it perfectly). It is a very odd sensation, living vicariously and seeing an idea come to life without either person having an inkling about the other. Absolutely love the art. Please keep painting. I really like the video style. It is like a video journal. Interesting.
Myriam, this a beautiful piece. So glad you are back and thank you for sharing the process. The way I interpreted it is that there’s a juxtaposition of ideas. The noose tied around the person’s neck is a restraint, but the birds attached want to be free and escape their capture. Nature defies the logic of imprisonment and must continue to survive. It seems the person is both terrified of the outside view and longs to be free of its containment. Sending love.❤️
Awesome video, Myriam!! Definitely can see a new video style emerge here!! The painting is simply stunning (didn't expect anything different). It's wonderful to have you back!! p.s. I love your hair!!
First of all I just want to say I love your style of art I think it’s different and perfect. I watch you when I want to get inspired I wanted to ask if you could do a rundown like this but explain what thumbnail is and just a more in-depth version of this
Hey Miriam! I always thought as a "good" artist you have to be able to transfer your sketch without using any help - like you drew it once in a sketch and then without a problem on the final paper/surface. Oh, I was so wrong but suffered some time by doing this. This year, I got an A3 lightbox and it changed my whole process so much! It's so refreshing to see, that you are using this photo bashing method, printing in segments and using carbon paper! It shows the reallness of the process to get to a final painting! Thank's for that!
I always love your videos and you as a person. The little inclusions of beautiful daily live, your personality, the amazing work and process. Absolutely love it.
I meant to tell you earlier, but I'm really enjoying the new format. You can really see the effort that went in to not just the painting but the video as well. Also it was a pleasant surprise to see the Daily Doodles. Great job all around!
not going to lie, really enjoyed the birds poping onto the page to the beat of the music. A video to be proud of. Also great to see a parakeet XD I always forget there's loads of feral ones down south XD And those squirrels are brave! But like all that is just preamble to how much I love this painting, because I really really really really really really love this. It's stunning Myriam. Since you first showed it on Patreon I've been thinking about hope. It reminds me of when I'm thinking about the future and I start to get excited about what could happen in my life, and it always hurts a little. The cliche is to say it tugs on my heart strings, but the golden threads from the birds to the figures neck is a better image of how it actually feels. It's that wish the catches in the throat, that can leave you feeling a little breathless, but by god is it beautiful. By god is it worth having that caught in your throat fear for the chance of seeing the beauty of your dreams. Take care
Looks like you're expressing some feelings about being in lock down. Beautiful, and actually quite cheerful. So glad you're back, been missing your lovely videos in my feed
LOVE everything about this, I can really see the improvement and I'm glad you took a break to regroup because it shows! That being said I'm so happy you're back!
That was a pleasure to watch Myriam. It was so nice to see that even someone as accomplished as yourself still can struggle with how terrifying putting that brush to paper/canvas can be. It makes me feel less annoyed at getting myself stuck in procrastination station on the regular, so thank you. I love the final painting, and even though it is different to your usual pieces, it is still very much Myriam. I loved getting to see your process, and especially how long it can actually take. I think with how prevalent social media is, and how bombarded we are with images every day it can be easy to think that you aren't fast enough, that you don't produce enough work weekly (or even daily in some cases), so it was good to be able to remember that things do take time. Whenever I see a painting of yours it gives me a little jolt of inspiration and I am now looking forward to spending my weekend working on my latest painting, sometimes after a tough week at work it is the last thing I want to do, but this video came at just the right time for me. I look forward to hopefully seeing more videos of your process and how you work on larger pieces. Take care and stay safe!
Lovely video, really interesting to see your process! Your thoughts on being scared to start painting are very recognizable, glad to see you so happy with the result in the end!
Wow this piece is beautiful! Taking into account your older works it's almost like the character is seeing the light and coming from the darkness. Their little bird friends helping them see the light, hope, renewal of things. Also, I really loved this video! The shots and edits and music were all working beautifully together. I especially liked the shots showing the birds being drawn. Where we see the sketch, you working on it, then it done. The sketch of the next, then it done. Etc. It was very cinematic and lovely. I'm really looking forward to more of your art and videos!
The colors are so pretty, and I really love how you planned your sketch. It was very thoughtful and ingenious. Never knew what photo-bashing was until now, so thank you.
Thank you everyone for watching my relaunch video! And thank you to all of you who joined the chat, sorry it ended so abruptly!
You all made it really lovely to come back, I am so damn lucky to have you as an audience.

@ Myriam Tillson quick question, do I hear hint of a French accent or is that my bad ears? Your work is wonderful and I’m glad to see you continue!
you are so inspiring 😳✨💚 such beautiful artworks and am loving your personality so much!

This is such a beautiful video !!!! The art is breathtaking and the editing is so smooth😂🙌
Saving this as a reminder to tell myself that art is a process and I can't make something amazing instantly.
Awesome video, Myriam!! Definitely can see a new video style emerge here!! The painting is simply stunning (didn't expect anything different). It's wonderful to have you back!! p.s. I love your hair!!

I'm so glad you're back! Really excited to see your creative process you really inspire me.
You're sweet, thank you!!
Love it amazing job! , the prior process of procreate really helps to flow the whole piece , you definitely should be proud ♥️👏🏼

Super excited you're back Miriam. Looking forward, counting down.

Absolutely stunning, I love the shadows formed by the branches, the light on the walls, the whole concept is a masterpiece
