Question: What are these 'SLUS' codes & what am I watching at the beginning of the video?
Answer: The beginning part proves that the game is an actual Director's Cut DualShock version; you can look at bottom left side of the front cover to see the unique serial number of the game as you can see at 00:19 in the video. And at 00:57 you can see the serial number recorded to the game disc by developers. (Here in the video used a clean CD-ROM image file from the game disc)

No doubt PC always was more flexible and powerful than consoles in hardware, not the software(especially the faulty ones). But I don't understand all these Console/PC hate and wars! I don't care about the platform. As long as a game is fine and has no issues, I enjoy playing it on any platform! But the PC version of RE was a poor port from the console like many other games that ported from consoles to PC. Sure it was the developer's fault, not the platform itself. Here are some technical info about original RE for both PS1 and PC:
The backgrounds in this game(which feels the screen by 90% most times) are pre-rendered 2D in 320x240px with low color-depth on both platforms, so no matter what a modern system you're using to run the game; no visual improvement comes during the gameplay, because it's already prerenderd! The PC port has low quality audio files, most of them compressed with (maximum) @22050Hz 4bit, compared to 37800Hz-Stereo 16bit on PS1 in Sony's (individual) ADPCM format. Also the sound cracks sometimes during the gameplay of the PC version(especially on many non-compatible sound cards). The cutscenes video files on the PC is compressed with an old low quality video encoder (most likely MS-Video1 format), but on PS1 compressed nicely using STR format. The game runs @30 variable frames per second on PC, but @59.94fps on PS1(NTSC Ver.)... This game designed to play using controllers not mouse/keyboard, but the PC version doesn't support controllers. This version on the video support the DualShock controller (+vibrations obviously) by default... I heard that a mod project running to fix all these issues for PC version.
Being fair, he wasn't talking about pc/console wars, he was talking about censorship, something that hit hard on consoles and the mostly never apply on PC because PC isn't ruled by a single entity like consoles (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, Microsoft, etc).
Now, back to the game, I think PC version was in between, like a semi uncut?, my version has a color intro but not that long, it has a smoker Chris, but I don't remember the falling head on the first zombie...

I saw that game when I was a kid, the first Zombie turning his head around like that scared the living hell out of me. I didn't want to see the game. But of course I grew up and conquered my fears. Now it's hilarious, what's terrifying is the terrible voice acting.

MetroidJunkie REmake as it's commonly called. I have it, and I usually beat it in around 3 hours. And yes, now the horror is actually the horror itself, not the voice acting. In the original it's almost as if the creators just went out of the studio and found the first american tourists they could stumble upon in the streets.

When I was 8, I got this thinking that since I love horror movies I'd surely be able to handle horror games! No problem! The next week I was lying to the other kids about "getting to the part where the dog jumps through the window."
Now I'm 28 now and flinching at RE7. The more things change...
the first time i ever saw this game, i walked in as my uncle was about to see the zombie turn and look at you the first time, and seeing that horrifying face on the t.v scared me so much that i just turned around and walked away and hid in that room until he stopped playing. for years that face alone scared the shit out of me, but then i forced myself to watch gameplay videos and artwork of that same face until it didn't give me the scared feeling anymore. now i'm fascinated looking at it

Jeopardy Professional Yeah, and it's strongly hinted that Leon is (or was) a smoker. In RE4, after you meet Luis, he asks Leon if he has a smoke, and Leon's reply is "got gum". Gum is a typical substitute for those who have quit smoking.
It's confirmed in some of the art for "Resident Evil 1.5", which is the prototype for RE2. In the concept art, Leon is seen smoking alongside Chris, Joseph, and a character named D.J. (who was cut from RE2).
Even if you ignore RE1.5 and Leon's "got gum" comment in RE4, it's always possible that Leon is enough of a boy scout (as in "always ready") that he carries around a lighter. One of my co-workers is like that. He's never smoked a cigarette in his entire life, but he still carries around a Bic lighter "just in case".
(P.S.: for those who don't know: "Resident Evil 1.5" is what *was* going to be RE2. But as it was approaching its March 1997 release date, the developers were dissatisfied with the game. Rather than releasing a game they were unhappy with, the developers took the risk of cancelling the game and developing the game again from scratch. That's why RE2 didn't come out until January 1998. Leon's lighter is one of the carryovers from the original game design.)
The Head falling just makes that cutscene so much better. Doesn't feel completed without seeing Kenneth's Head fall off.

This makes me want to wrestle with ePSXe again. The uncut version is pure 90s.
The director's cut was supposed to have the full color uncensored into in the US. When the game was submitted to Capcom of America, it was rejected because of incorrect copyright info in the intro movie. Instead of editing in the proper text, Capcom of Japan (who did the localization work) just put back the censored movie as it was already correct and the game was printed that way.
Whoever made the live action cut scenes shout be hired to make the Films.

Europe Director's cut has the Uncut intro and "where is wesker"music , but not the falling head.

Well, the French version of the game was also in english, with french subtitles.
Ok, it's only logical, for an fully translated game (text-translated), but I always prefered the english voices.

My PAL-Spanish copy has the uncut too. It's the first release. It's not Director's cut, the cover is just "Resident Evil". I bought it at its release date :D

Every time I hear them say Resident Evil, I'm always waiting for them to say Resident Evil 2. As much as I have played that game. That was all I would hear.
Chris' shaking of the head while looking menacing is a close tie with his hilarious lighting up of the cigarette for best RE moment EVER.
Fun fact: The French copy of the game was released completely uncut, with the intro in colour, the bloody parts, and the shot of the mutilated head just before the zombie turn away.
I though back then "directors cut" actually have a more content than the original, in fact it is a censored version

Good times playing this game , I remember like yesterday always waiting for the night time when everyone’s sleeping, so I could play alone without lights and completely quiet home, the only thing what i seen was the screen and the game sounds having %100 game interaction !!!! Who never played like that needs to do it, believe me it’s the best experience ever maximizes all game potential !!!

I'm not really gonna ask why this is in my recommendations at this point since this seems to be how youtube works now.
But the most obvious differences I can list are;
The content warning on startup in the DX cut
The Capcom logo animation looks more modern in the DX cut
The biggest difference: opening cutscene to uncut version is longer and more gorey
DX cut opening is in black and white (since it was censored they probably tried to make it look more scary with a filter)
Might have been just a sound glitch, but DX cut lists the surviving characters

Uncut has a rock song playing during character introductions, porbably censored in DX due to music licensing
Uncut zombie cutscene shows victim's decapitated head
As much as I prefer the Uncut ver, I thing the rock song pretty much detracts from the overall feel from the game and makes out to be some sort of parody. But why would you censore smoking IN A ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GAME?

In Europe we had the director's cut version, but with the uncut intro video version. I've never seen the head falling stuff, but I clearly remember the horrible sound of Joseph yelling while eaten by the dogs. I was fuckin 10 hahaha

Thank you SO MUCH for making this patch!! It has some playback issues but I am playing it on the Android version of ePSXe running on Snapdragon 435 clocked at 1.4 GHZ with OpenGL ES 3.2, Adreno 505 and 2 GB of RAM. But that's an issue with my hardware. You did great!

The good o' days. Love this game. Still do. Love the eerie music, dialogue is bad but still awesome horror game. First time playing it when it first came out on ps1 had me scared for awhile. Developed a fear of the undead for awhile. Thinking something lurking in the dark🙈..lol. Today no prob🙉. Still awaiting the Re2 remake and possibly "ourbreak" ports to ps4.

The german Director's Cut version had the full uncut intro video in color and introduction from the STARS members, but was cut in the scene with the first zombie, the falling head was cut out, the rest was uncensored.
