57 Those who arrested Jesus took him to the presence of the high priest Caiaphas, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.
58 And Peter followed him afar off unto the court of the high priest; and entering, he sat among the guards, to see the end.
59 And the chief priests and the whole council sought a false testimony against Jesus, that they might deliver him to death;
60 and did not find it, even though many false witnesses came. But at last two came,
61 And they said, This one said, I can destroy the temple of God, and rebuild it in three days.
62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Dost thou not answer? What do they lay against you?
63 But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God.
64 Jesus answered him, It is as thou hast said; yet I say unto you, that ye shall soon see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.
65 And the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He blasphemed; Why do we still need witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.
66 What do you think? And they said, He is guilty of death.
67 And they spit upon his face, and beat him;
68 and others slapped him, saying, Prophesy unto us, O Christ, who is it that smote thee?
Peter denies Jesus

69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard; and a servant came to him, and said, Thou also were with Jesus the Galilean.
70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
71 And he went out into the hall, and another maid saw him, and said to them that were there, This man also was with Jesus the Nazarene.
72 And he denied again, and with an oath, I know not such a man.
73 And it came to pass at a little while, that the men that were there drew near, said unto Peter, Surely thou art also one of them; for thy saying denounces thee.
74 And he began to curse and swear, saying, I know not this man. And immediately the cock crowed.
75 And Peter remembered what Jesus had said, "Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
