Thailand: Angelina Jolie visits refugees from Myanmar

- UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie commemorated World Refugee Day on June 20, 2014, with her fourth visit to the refugee camps in northern Thailand. At Ban Mai Nai Soi camp, she met three generations in the family of Baw Meh, a Karenni refugee who fled Myanmar's Kayah state in 1996.
Baw Meh, 75, lost her husband last year. He died before he could fulfill his dream of returning home. Some of their children and grandchildren have been resettled to third countries. Others have chosen to stay. Baw Meh has refused to go, preferring to stay close to her village.

As the one of refugees,I really understand how they feel. First,I didn't know what a refugee at all.however I was in the situation a refugee. It was really weird that I did not who I was at that. Refugees' lives are full of depression . Thanks God that I settled in the third country.
Please excuse my ignorance, but why are there refugees in Thailand? I always thought it was a very peaceful country with the sweetest people.

i lived in that camp for 10yrs
sometimes I feel like we forget the enduring pain or fear elders go through when they lose their loved ones because at old age this is normal and expected, and because as the elders they're usually the ones holding it together....but let's not forget to check in with them and let them talk about those loved ones, and remind them that they're so strong

home is where you are ..our home is planet earth as long as we are with whom,we love i say this man lived in peace ...we plant concept into people minds that make them feel sorry instead of doing what is needed to reclaim livelihood the energy made into building camp in my opinion is bowing to what displaced them in the first place .....Stop displacement go to the root causes That is needed ..no war recycle all the unnecessary plant tree build green house change the odds don't victimize purify.....

I hope my donation to UNHCR was not used to pay Angelina Jolie to visit the refugee camp.
i don´t know but I don´t believe in this woman at all, Angelina likes to be part of the scandals and always be in the first pages of all the magazines, I think she is a fake

easy for you to sit in ur sofa sets and judge others. Even if she's fake, according to ur comment at least she's out there doing something good and most importantly bringing awareness about the plight of those displaced around the world!
tina modofrida it’s not fake at all I was born in one of the Thailand refugee camps and it’s honestly hard. Especially when your families trying to get you someone safe and your home or villages have been burned or destroyed and you have to escape to one of the refugee camps. I’m in the United States now and my father and grandad are buried in the grave in one of the refugee camps we lived in. I only lived there when I was about two years old I don’t remember much but i know it was hard but also a shelter for a lot of refugees to live. This small documentary is actually true
