  • Discussing a parallel compression technique on a drum set using a second sub group, this time routed back through a pair of linked channels. Just another way to use groups.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial! I'm getting some phase issues trying this technique. Have you ever experienced this?

Hi, do you have both going through aux and the original channels OUT of the mains? Watch part 4 where I think I show the first group setup if you missed that. You don't have to do exactly what I did here but you'll need two groups or auxes. One dry and one with compression. You cannot combine this with faders on the main level going straight out to L/R. The reason is that those channels would be early compared to the ones going to the busses which adds a small amount of latency. Maybe .3-5 ms or something like that. This latency will cause phase issues because you have two signals arriving at slightly different times. Here, I had set up two groups. One dry and one compressed/wet/whatever you want to do differently. By definition, you will also have phase disagreements if the two are EQ'd differently. This can be undesirable or perhaps acceptable depending on the situation.

hello. how to open the layout as on 0.33, where dyn/eq is open simultaneously on the same screen. And not on different layers of the villages. I open it under the windows operating system in the edge browser.

You'll want to go to the settings cog-local-big desktop mode for mix and turn that on. Depending on your screen size and resolution, you will probably need to zoom your browser out until it fits properly. In the blue menu on the right hand side you can choose which extra info you see in this mode. It's an awesome setup view and makes this mixer very cool.
