My partner isnt the type to enjoy this kinda content... but she loves to watch you guys with me as she says 'you guys are just real and not fake.' we agree and this is our weekly fix! literally wait all week to watch more of you both. Keep going and much love.
I'm glad to see this work carried on. So much fone this year. Looking at the wallet for myself and my son. Crack on you two. Much to do in a short time. We know you'll get it done. Merry Christmas? 🎄
Simon, I am in my late 70s, so it has been a while since I had a model train, but you barely had the words out of your mouth about the smell of your drill and that aroma filled my brain instantly!! Love it!
Splendid work as usual. But come on guys, As I'm writing this there have been 6 comments but only one 'like'. Likes and comments make a big difference to how the YT bots present the channel to the world so please hit the like.
So enjoy the humor you two have. That's why I support you. Life is to short not to have a laugh while working. The relationship that you show is a treasure for a husband and wife team. Oh I'm sure there's moment off camera. Simon, can you shed some light for this old Yankee on the phrase "take the Mickey out of each other".
Take the mickey means make fun of or tease each other. But you have to get real. This a business. They are making content. If they were boring, people would not watch. So they act up for the cameras to try and make it interesting. Or they will organise fake drama. By all means enjoy the show, but realise that's what it is... a show.
These two don’t need to invent drama. This old boat always has something new to talk about. But they both have such excellent skills they don’t need to argue.
@@PreservationEnthusiastYou act as if these two are on a million dollar budget with a professional production crew, working for a TV network. They're not. Yeah there's video editing in order to make everything more watchable and therefore monetizable, but that's just what you do. The videos would be a year long each with no subs and no views if they were unedited.
Your weekly "show" is like a ray of sunshine for us followers. Keep laughing, joking and whatever!! You are definitely going up the right road with everything you do. Be good and be safe! John
I'm a retired female contractor. I've had the same problem removing bolts. I figured out when trying to remove my tire nuts in Pennsylvania, 200 miles away from home in the boonies, that a iron pipe just big enough to go over my tire wrench gave me a lot more leverage. I also found it works when working with stuck nuts and bolts. For my kids I cut 2 1/2 foot long pipes to keep with their tire changing equipment. One night my daughter called me after leaving her nursing shift at the hospital she had a flat tire. She said the pipe over the tire wrench made bolt removal easy .Just a suggestion from an old bitty. Love your videos.
"So it's YOUR washer now?" Best straight line I've heard in years! Heavens mate, you're not only going to own the washer is a second, but laundry job too! Gemma was much nicer than I expected. I liked the screw washing business too! Really a funny Friday! Thanks guys...
Hey! You could do a Colin Furze and sell off bits of rotten boat and tarnished screws! This time next year you could be Miwyunaires Rodders. Love the channel, keep rocking on!
They have already done that with some of the old copper nails mounted on salvaged wood and (I think) etched. Might have been more than a year ago though so, welcome to the channel. 👍👍
Like the Gator Grip Socket. However you can use a 12-point socket on square bolt heads. Net, get a length of pipe that can go over that wrench about a half to a meter long, we call it a "cheater bar" , to get more leverage and strength.
If you're worried about the upperdeck coming down, build a temporary wall with openings to work through and then pull the beams. Also, the outside jobs should get done ASAP, it'll save you doing repairs later if you're water tight.
The wise cracks are why we watch. It's your boat and your life and your YT channel. Do it your way and people will vote with their watches. Love it all.
When a bolt head or nut will not turn with a wrench on it, slip a piece of pipe over the wrench handle to give you more leverage. It will help out a lot.
Continue with your interior work in the dry heated space. No point fighting the weather. You know how you want to proceed and you have a rhythm. If you could finish both port and starboard work you are doing all the way to the stern by the time the good weather arrives in the late spring, that would be a huge accomplishment. Then you can open up the stern for it's rebuild or start running your deck beams and replacing the deck, one module at a time to minimize seams/joints. Plan? ☑ If you get all of that work done long before good weather, start making the next batch of beams so they are ready to go. I would remove the longitudinal in the engine room one new beam at a time because it no longer serves a purpose. once you have good sprung beams tied to the hull with knees, your salon will have more support than it had when the 1980's conversion was done. NO worries! 👍
Personally I have no problems with you having fun whilst working on sarinda it the videos fun enjoy yourselves repairing sarinda she coming on nicely well done 😊😊
On any job like this closing in and keeping out the rain is always priority 2 behind keeping the ocean out. So anything that closes the smallest bit of deck is important you will be surprised sometimes (as with that beam shelf) how much we overthink jobs. Mind you in the real world its probably already done EH! Really rocking on with the job now, this is the meat and potatoes section, the plodding on stage, love how you push each other along, that's team work.

Hello I'm Timothy from WA ,state USA. I had a 67 foot Monk for about 5 years we did ton of work on it because it was wood and built in 1959 . Iven sold her like 4 years ago because i came down with Parkinson. Very impressed with your progress and your fortitude. At times it seems much less like a boat and more like a rotten wood template in the general size and shape of a boat.
Visualising the entire boat from inside and outside and having a realtime discussion about next steps shows how far you have come. Thankyou for sharing your journey. I already think you are professional restorers now. You have completed an "autoapprentiship" no pun intended.
In the end, it is your joy and your motivation that matter. The fact that you then make the rest of us follow you gives us a kind of relief from that feeling that we cannot improve anything, that we are not good enough or that we cannot fulfil a job, a dream. You make these thoughts quite superfluous and I think that is why so many people follow you. Here's the thing; there are two types of people. The positive and the negative. You would think that the negative ones would want to follow the positive ones but that's not always the case. It seems that the negatives like to tell the positives that ‘it's not worth it’ or ‘that won't work’. The good thing about the negatives is that the more they moan, the more motivation the positives feel. You have three choices in life; 1. Say something positive. 2. Say something negative but constructive. 2. Keep your mouth shut. The fourth option is reserved for the bitter, the lonely, the hopeless and the lost souls, i.e. those who whine and criticise just to make themselves feel good. It is a pity for them. From a glorious Sweden to a glorious United Kingdom, love!

Hi Gemma, Nev here from NZ. Just a wee tip when cutting off the copper nails and having them ping off in all directions. This an old aircraft engineers trick, clean the jaws of the Knipex pliers, lat some silicone sealer in the recess, let it dry then slice the dry silicone parallel with the cutting edges. So now when you cut you copper nails the cur end will be trapped by the silicone and won’t go flying in all directions. It’s great when cutting stainless split pins upon aircraft, split pin tails are dangerous floating around the internals of an aircraft. Just a simple suggestion. Keep up the great work, I have followed you guys from the very beginning and enjoy every episode. I wish I lived in UK so I could give you guys a helping hand!

It's the sign of a STRONG, HEALTHY relationship, trust me I know. My wife abd I met when she was 16 & I 17 and we've been joking, laughing and having fun together for 40 yrs. That's the MAIN PROBLEM with the internet is that everyone got too much to say about other ppls lives.
Close it up while you can, can’t trust the weather, so make hay while you can and save the rainy day stuff for that rainy day. You are doing great, keep at it.
STOP HAVING SO MUCH FUN!!!!!! - Carry on, it cheers me up everytime I watch your fantastic channel antics, cannot wait to see the finished boat , it will be the FUN Boat
Your commitment to such a daunting project, your enginuity along with a sense of humour are really impressive. All power to you. PS, I don't usually do boats without sails, you and Geordie are the exceptions.
about the weightbearing challenge on the midship saloon: you could think about beefing up the knees, so that they make triangles, since (I estimate) the wall is about where the knees end.
Keep having a laugh, it’s why the misses and I love watch you two, we look forward to each Friday new video (god that sounds so sad) but we enjoy every episode
Gemma, I'm sure you have one but if you don't they make a ratchet head bit to put in your cordless drill or impact driver that you can put your fancy little square nut socket thingy. It will save you time and the pain of working over your head. It's one of my favorite tools that I use all the time. They come in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2".
GEMMA - When you're pounding those heads of the copper nails, If you don't want to leave marks on the wood just take a thin piece of wood - drill a hole the size of the copper nail head. Then, place the wood over the copper head and just pound away. If you miss the head of the copper nail the hammer will strike the sacrificial wood and not leave any marks on the beam that you just put in.

GO ON YOU WEE NANCY GIRL! Put your back into it!. That’s what I yell at myself when I can’t get a bolt unstuck. I do get nervous when that brute,Simon, starts tearing the ship apart with his bare hands.
totally agree guys, if you don't put something into the work, you'll never get anything out of it i'd like to think, Post Gemma and Simon, your grown up kids will take over Sarinda, and watch videos back to remind themselves what their fantastic parents did - got to have fun doing what you love, restoration is very rewarding try not to forget (as Simon will point out) all the weight above is spread over an area or at other points of contact, but i appreciate it is quite a puzzle to work out, i think if it were me, i'd remove that piece of timber, its in the way and it really won't take much to put in a prop
I don’t know about anybody else, but I love this boat if I was near you, I’d come help you build it, but I’m in the US but I do like this idea quite a bit. I’ve been watching since day one I just have not commented thank you for entertaining us on the Internet

That special "any" socket can also go on an impact driver if you've got the adapter for sockets. Make quick work of stubborn bolts that don't want to come out.
Don't know if anyone else has said this but after I break the lag bolts free I use a 3/8" drill adapter with the socket and then use either the drill or an impact tool to quickly unscrew the bolts. Quite a time saver.
Agreed with the folks here I do look forward to a Friday and your content. I was worried last week when you said you were splitting up! I was going to send a councillor up to check up on both of you! Nice one yet again folks! I am surprised the local council hasn't built you a jetty or put you in some pontoons so you can do guided tours and charged entry with their mark up of course!
I Enjoy watching the pair of you work away you both bring enjoyment to the work you do. i wish that i was able to help in some way as i liked when my Father was building his boat from Scratch in the Albert Dock back in the day late 1950`s early 1960`s that boat was called the Ladymead. so watching you both brings great joy to me now in my late 60`s KEEP WHAT YOUR DOING AND MAKE IT SAFE AND FUN all the best
When your undoing your ‘square bolts’ find a length of metal tube wide enough to slide over the end of the spanner…extending your ‘lever’ on the square bolts….👍
Hi,loving your videos always humorous at some point but not distracting from the information being presented.Thank you.A tip I learnt many years ago was to wax screw threads even if going into wood.cheers Roly🇬🇧

i'd like to think, Post Gemma and Simon, your grown up kids will take over Sarinda, and watch videos back to remind themselves what their fantastic parents did - got to have fun doing what you love, restoration is very rewarding
try not to forget (as Simon will point out) all the weight above is spread over an area or at other points of contact, but i appreciate it is quite a puzzle to work out, i think if it were me, i'd remove that piece of timber, its in the way and it really won't take much to put in a prop
I don’t know about anybody else, but I love this boat if I was near you, I’d come help you build it, but I’m in the US but I do like this idea quite a bit. I’ve been watching since day one I just have not commented thank you for entertaining us on the Internet

Τα όμορφα πράγματα ενώνουν όλο τον κόσμο!!!💣📌 που
YOU GUYS ROCK......i can see why u did not pull her out of the water know. great work on stabilizing that boat ......
You have both taken on a huge project, but you seem to love what you are doing. That is great. No real deadlines to meet (maybe?)
It doesn't really matter to some extent how long it takes. Just love what you are doing and one day you will be out in the ocean enjoying the fruits of your labour,.
You two are wonderful ❤! That's why I'm watching you at 2am when I should be asleep.
A "yellow" 1/4 inch impact driver with 3/8 drive adapter works great with that socket. They also have 1/4 and 1/2 drive adapters.
Simon and jimmer because you two are not trying to be something you are not is the only reason I whatch you guys are you two are my kind of people. Keep being you
That special "any" socket can also go on an impact driver if you've got the adapter for sockets. Make quick work of stubborn bolts that don't want to come out.
You both have such a great attitude even when facing huge hurdles. It's not going unnoticed and speaks to your character. Awesome video as usual 👌
Different or mismatched woods can be a problem . You need to have sacrificial birch anodes. These will rot before the other timbers do........
I agree. Enjoy the day as much as you can! God bless you both!
John and Martha
I Enjoy watching the pair of you work away you both bring enjoyment to the work you do. i wish that i was able to help in some way as i liked when my Father was building his boat from Scratch in the Albert Dock back in the day late 1950`s early 1960`s that boat was called the Ladymead. so watching you both brings great joy to me now in my late 60`s KEEP WHAT YOUR DOING AND MAKE IT SAFE AND FUN all the best
Your content should always be fun!!!
One of the main reasons for watching you two is the humour of your interactions keep up the good work, love you 😂😂❤❤
Thank you so much 😁
You can always get an adapter for your drill to go to the socket so you can use an impact on those bolts make it a lot easier for you
Happy holidays to the cheerful, giggling boatwrights ! There is more progress all the time !
Good call with those packers and bolts with this storm coming.
You guys give ME joy as I watch your content!!! Thank you! Keep having fun.
I love to watch you dealing all the pro lems mainly with smiles!!!
If you can't have fun together doing a job this strenuous and seemingly sometimes without end, you would not be able to finish and you also wouldn't have nearly as many viewers. Keep up the great work.
I am sure you two grafters will sort out the best way of moving on with the build I have great faith in you both.
