RachelTeeKae wow Rachel. Tell your grandchildren I said hello! They are so lucky to have you homeschool. I’m honoured they learn from the content I share.
I think one of the problems of our current world is that most of us have to put ourselves on so much pressure and spend most hours of the days only for the maintenance of our lives, usually known as nine to five jobs, I think the point is that we need so much less to survive than what we have been taught, the return for a simpler life to me is a journey of liberation from consumerism and a seek for a happier and healthier life style.
Absolutely!! In my opinion, the way people are expected to work nowadays is absolutely criminal :( our purpose on earth is not to accumulate profit for ourselves or for others
This was such a neat conceptual idea for a video. Thank you! I love how you mention going back to basics. I think many of us have become over-stimulated by current culture/modern lifestyle and this is one of the reasons why the "slow-living" movement / minimalism / sustainability is becoming more popular...we realize our need to go back to basics. As always, a beautiful video.
The magic lies in the details. I love these moments, when I get up early, light the candles and brew me a cup of coffee. I choose the cup I feel perfect for this morning, enjoy the silence, how the sun rises. There are so many moments during the day to appriciate the smell of spices while cooking, feel the texture of the clothings, see the clouds and hear the storm roaring around the house ... Life is amazing!
Oh, what a gorgeous little robin! You're so lucky to have such wonderful creatures in your garden, Niamh. And that beautiful light in the forest! (sigh) I'll watch this video many times over. Thanks for taking the time to make and post this.

@@FairylandCottage Ah !! Thank you for reminding us that nature give us our five senses back. Very inspiring, thank you! Sometimes in our busy lives we forgot how to nourish ourselves.
What a wonderful video Niamh, thanks so much! Always a joy finding a new video from you! I love hugging trees myself, it's so therapeutic, isn't it? Living in the countryside is the best thing I could ever decide to do, I healed through the five senses you talk about in the vid and I developed even extra senses 😊 I don't even own a computer or laptop at the moment, I've been using only my smartphone for the last year and I'm not planning to buy one any time soon, I borrow one from relatives when I need it. Same for a car, never owned one and never will. Life's definitely too short to waste it working endless shifts just to buy new things all the time, I recycle and repair mine and it's totally fine, I'm happy. Hugs from a very warm Sardinia! ❤
Book recommendation: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerrer. It’s amazing. The author talks about how many gifts we have been given, and with gifts come reciprocity. This video was so calming and nice to watch :))
Lovely reminders for our five basic senses, and your work always nods to some of the other senses that we tend to pay less attention to, such as movement, balance, warmth, and perhaps a sense of the other in our fellow human beings and in nature. I find that when we can include as many senses as possible in our daily encounters, life becomes so much more rich and we can appreciate the amazing abundance around us. The beauty of the area in which you live must be such a joy for all of your senses every day!
I am starting a window herb garden this spring. It will be tasty, beautiful to look at, smell wonderful and give me something earthy to do with my hands and fingers. I can't wait!
The timing of this video was perfect, as I just committed myself to focusing on the five senses with more intention. My wake up call was that for days after my horse died, I seemed to "hear" her nickering at me from the other side of the fence, a sound I heard often and didn't fully appreciate until she was gone. It made me wonder what other wonderful sounds I hear daily and miss, which then made me question all the things I'm missing within the other senses. It's time to slow down a little and appreciate all the gifts around me.
THANK YOU so much ! I hope a lot of people know how lucky we can be to enjoy the little things in life. With ouer sences we can enjoy the little things and only if one is lost we know how lucky we were.... i love youre videos and enjoy them so much!!!Greatings from Eastfrisia 🍀
Loved this video, so much wisdom. 💛 The best part was when you were dusting your plants, that's one of my favourite things too do. When I went on a vipassana retreat I realised about the senses and how much they need to be balanced to feel content and happy. I tried to incorporate them all at that time as I was able to be 100% in the moment and it gave me so much peace. Earth - grounding down. Air - Breathing deeply. Fire - warm showers and comforting food. Touch - feeling the moment. Sight - taking a step back and seeing the world around you 💛

@@FairylandCottage Yes we do but it's electric.
Cathy Lynn Pietranton didn’t know there was any other type. Must be fun to make. I remember my grandparents having a sandwich maker and I loved it!
@@FairylandCottage We live in the USA and it's makes one waffle at a time. We love the fact that you live in a cottage and you bake abd cook without modern conveniences.
Beautiful video, Niamh.Pure bliss for the senses. I do appreciate all your videos and find them very special and very precious. May I ask what you burned in the beginning? That little bundle that smelled nice? And on top of what was it sitting? It looked very interesting and like something I might like to try. Thanks and have a lovely day. x
Sophie Oliver ah thanks Sophie,
It’s sage dried and I just sat it on top of a ceramic bowl. It gives a wonderful earthy smell throughout the house!
@@FairylandCottage Thank you for answering. I will try that. My gran always made me gargle with sage tea when I had a sore throat as a child. It will be nice to find another and more fun use for the sage ;-)
Thank you for another soothing video!
