Niamh, thank you and hubby for creating this video. You guys truly are a source of light on youtube. This has been a terribly emotional couple of weeks for me and the only thing that I wanted to hear online was your old videos. They always bless me so much and almost serve as a mediatation or healing balm for my spirit. As for today's video....I loved how you put it about AI being like a baby at the moment and we are the parents. I do hope that humanity learns how to train up "AI" in the way it should go so that hopefully it'll be a blessing and not a curse in the long run. As for me personally, I am feeling more and more the need to slow down and be intentional with how I use technology. It can be a sort of bondage at times and I want to be break free from it all and enjoy the good side of AI but with intention. I love what you said about the food also. I hope to one day be able to get in such a head space that I can focus in on my health and the nutrition of real foods that is required for a healthier life. Thank you again for posting this video even though I know you must have been feeling a great deal of overwhelm as of late as I'm almost sure I could hear it in your beautiful voice. My heart goes out to you dear one and remember you're not alone. There are so many of us who are with you in spirit as this is a community of kindred spirits. I pray this overwhelm lifts soon for you and that you enjoy the best fruits of peace and joy that I know are sure to come to you soon. Sending love and thoughts of comfort to you~! ❤~ Amy Ps. I'm so glad you picked up crochet again~. It's one of my favourite relaxing hobbies. At the moment I'm working on making my mother a hexagon quilt but hope to pick up a bit of crochet again soon as it's my first learned craft in which I was taught by my beloved mamaw. 😊

I’m always happy to see you’ve posted a video. So calming and beautiful.
I also just want to turn back, so to speak, when I hear all this Ai talk. I love slow living and being present in my own life. I also had a hard month, but at present, we’re blessed to go by the ocean.
For me, my hope is in Christ. When I feel the world just getting too big, I run to the Lord and find my deepest satisfaction in His love and creation. Your the reason I’ve chosen to live this way. That first video so long ago, caught my attention and I said, I want to live more simple. We’ve been long time friends😊
Prayers for you that you feel well and rested.
      Fondly, Karen.

So glad you decided to do this despite feeling overwhelmed. It’s such an important message for everyone! Even without delving further into AI, it begs the questions: who do we want to be? What do we value? How do we spend our time? And you present it all in a gentle, safe way that encourages people to lean into these questions.

For me, you accomplish what you set out to do with each video. The repurposed footage is another example of letting go of perfection and embracing what is possible. Exquisite.
Margaret J Wheatley, in her book, Who do We Choose to Be, suggests that we find one another and create islands of sanity amidst our difficult realities. This is one such island.❤
I agree we need to understand AI and appreciate the podcast recommendation.
I wholeheartedly believe what we put out for the world, we get back. Continue to do it your way. You are enough.

I just adore your videos - like minds, and so they have so much meaning to me. I live in the US and have retired, living in a semi-city type environment, try to grow some food and be resourceful. AI frightens me, quite honestly. I know how much animosity and mean spiritedness is here in the US - many wonderful folks too, but isnt it always the mean spirited who come to the forefront. I try very hard to keep to topics i love and not interact with those who dwell on the negative or try to instill mean spirited language. Like you, I have some older herb books and am trying to do more with my herbs and create a little farm on my patio in my semi-city type environment. Please keep these videos coming, and thank you to Terry for inspiring you on this month for this video. Means a great deal to me. Thank you ❤

Thank you for this video. I live in a small city in Tennessee. I can daily hear the busy traffic sounds but my heart is always listening to the sounds in my backyard. I have one birdhouse that has a family of wrens living in it. The other birdhouse has a family of tree swallows. There are several rabbits that are forever trying to get inside our gated vegetable garden. I find it a joy to watch them. I have learned at the age of 58 that beauty is never loud and loveliness is usually quite. I love God’s nature and I find peace there. I truly feel uncomfortable with AI perhaps because I don’t understand it. I like to educate myself in the world’s issues but I don’t stay there. I stay amongst my dishes in the kitchen where I cook meals for my family. I like being beside my flowers and my family. Have a bless day

Living in a suburb near a large city it’s easy to get side swiped by AI however I was born in a small town in Greece and have tried to raise my children to respect and enjoy nature and the simple less material things in life. Thank you for reminding us how important it is to not let this fast paced world take over. I have a small yard where in the summer, we all gather. Its become our small sanctuary of watching the birds and bees enjoy the flowers. We grow vegetables and try to stay grounded. Simplicity and back to basics in a busy world is a challenge but we try hard to remember the simple pleasures mean the most in life. Thank you for your lovely peaceful videos. I really enjoy them. Take care.

I do have a lot of knowledge about this and it’s not quite as simple as you described it in this video. I am aware that you did mention that you’ve only listened to a couple of podcasts so this it not critisism in any way. I belive everyone should look in to the social credit system in china on this topic. And question things: Who control the ethics of AI? Who program it? Even if it’s learning in a childlike way it’s NOT a child. There is no empathy or other forgiving human traits. Who’s controlling the ”ethics” of AI? Do your own research, don’t accept only the positive sides and the progress AI brings humanity, research the darker sides as well. Thank you for this video Niambh, this is an important subject which should be discussed on a more common human level. It is important that everyone understands it.

I agree with you about getting back to the old paths, slowing down and focusing on life-giving relationships and tasks. I am tired of this artificial world of virtual reality and screens (tv or computer). Yes, technology has some value, but I am seeing so many seeking natural things, ridding their homes of television and unplugging from social media, etc. I think it is a very good thing to get back to creating things, growing things and living a natural life with our bare feet in the grass, sunshine and fresh air (as much as that is possible). I needed to hear this! I'm very ignorant about AI and also thought that it's something I could escape, because of my simple lifestyle. I realized now that we can only make a difference if we make ourselves heard. What I would like to teach AI is this: " The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity.”

So much of what you have discussed in this video resonates with me. I don’t know much about AI, but as a person who lives a conscious lifestyle in the wilderness of northern 🇨🇦, I try to spend quality time in the outdoors, limit my screen time everyday, and contribute positively to society both on and off line. It’s my personal opinion that we need to stay in touch with tactile activities which also engage our brain. For me, this comes in the form of outdoor physical activity, hands-on hobbies, reading physical books and writing notes, cooking whole foods, and of course socializing with my friends and family in a face-to-face manner and not just on social media. I’m a skill toy enthusiast!! Skill toys (yoyo, kendama, monkey knuckles, etc.) engage both sides of our brain whilst also honing our fine motor skills. I’m also a sewist and a crafter, a wild swimmer, and like you Niamh, a person who spends quality time in my kitchen cooking nutritious food. At the end of every day I glance back on the day’s events and quietly celebrate the time spent engaging my brain and my hands, as well as being outdoors and away from screens. This is working for me, and it brings me peace and fulfillment. Thanks so much Niamh for putting your time and energy into this quality video today. It’s such an important topic, and I always value what you have to say and share with us here in this community. Enjoy your summer and we’ll see you here in July. Ⓜary💕🌲💦

I am really feeling this way lately. You captured my feelings quite well. We can’t trust organics here anymore (in the US at least) because they are now being sprayed with over 300 “organic” sprays, which isn’t better and who knows the real consequences. I try to grow my own so I know it’s not sprayed but it’s hit or miss (I live in the mountains of AZ and it’s hard to grow many things) I am finding myself returning to basics overall, including my social experience. I do not participate in social media but I do watch you tube. I am finding the vast majority of channels I watched have become overburdening with sponsors and influencing. It has become quite fake and the more I find out about how fake, I don’t want to watch them. I have always cooked 99% of all of our meals, I tend to eat more basic than my partner and kids so I make them the more elaborate meals. Thank you for staying with your values and giving us ideas on how to really live a simple and basic life. ❤

I completely agree that the world is changing. Not only is there artificial food and intelligence but also superficial people which breaks my heart. I really thought about if I wanted to have children and bring them into this. I always wanted a bunch. Ultimately, after the pandemic, I decided it was the selfless thing to do to not bring them into this mess. Instead, I help animals. Yes, I can do what I can to bring them up well but they will still have to deal with this world and 15 years from now, I cant see that it will be better for them unfortunately. People like you and us are a minority which is sad. It wouldnt be fair them. I love your videos and practices. I only wish there were more people like this. Compassion, empathy and respect for our planet are dwindling and its sad to watch.

I just watched your video, and it was simply wonderful. In fact, I called my sister to tell her to watch it too. On a different subject, I noticed you are wearing a gorgeous sweater (jumper?), but it is hot where I am in the Midwest United States. What are your summers like there? My ancestry is Irish, Scottish, and English. I despise hot weather. Back on topic here, I couldn’t agree more on your position regarding staying grounded in the face of AI and the modern world. Thank you for your video.

TH-cam has always been there for me to help me connect with others who are like me, but far from me. It has helped me so much, but as AI emerges, it's made me think of the technology we already have, and how it already effects us. People are so afraid of "new" AI, yet we don't look at what we already use, and see. Our cell phones, Google, TH-cam, Netflix, TV, movies, radio... it is all AI. The worst has already happened, and I think this is our chance and choice to say, no more. AI is a sinking ship like the Titanic. There is no greater technology than the physical body and brain, and no higher intelligence than nature itself. I am 29, and I truly feel like when 2000 crossed, we lost touch with a baseline of natural and the scale tipped. I was only 6 and have vivid memories of the day we crossed into 2000 and I could feel it. Too fast, too cheap, too blind, too numb, too senseless. Fun, but a short fuse. I still have the rest of my life ahead of me, and I feel like I have a very hug responsibility in my own life, to choose the kind of world I want to live in, by choice. I no longer have social media, I don't watch TV, I don't listen to the radio, but I am very aware of everything, that is why I disconnect. If you're like me, and wondering what the world is coming to... it's coming to YOU. You have the ability to change everything, even if everything is just your life. Cooking your own food. Reusing things even just a few more times. Helping a friend. Making your own art. Sharing something inspiring. You don't have to change the world, to help change the world. When I totally disconnect from technology, and I mean totally... I feel like I am touching real life again, and it is so huge and different and amazing. But we, you and me and everyone else feeling what I'm feeling, have to make that choice and change. Not the government, not businesses, not "people in charge" - you are in charge, we're the ones who are truly in charge. We have the charge. We are the ones powering the "machine" - where do you want your power going? Toward goodness and health and community and a better future, or toward a cannibal giant who has no mercy? We have the power to make that decision, with very small actions.
*I just want to add, please do not be terrified of AI. If we are afraid of AI, it is only because we are afraid of ourselves. AI is not some living create coming out of the depths of the unknown, it is emerging from us. Be courageous, AI doesn't have a heart, or a gut, it is a mocking piano of numbers, how easily we are fooled by it, only shows us how much we have to learn about ourselves. If it becomes a terrifying monster, it's because we have a terrifying monster within us that needs to be met and understood. AI is not sentient and never will be, no matter what anyone tells you. I think we are on the verge of self awareness like never before, come hell or high water.

What scares me more is not AI as it is, but the fact that it seems that people are becoming empty like it. AI is intelligent, people are too (well at least many are). AI lacks of feelings and it seems that people are loosing their ability to feel. There is so much anger and violence between humans that makes me want to go back to the old ways, to the roots. I am lucky, I live in the countryside so I can connect more with nature. Lately I have been studying about herbs, natural remedies etc. I think this is a way to feel the earth, to feel the planet and to keep that border that separates us from the AI and becoming just robots.
Elisa, from Italy. Oh, BTW, my vegetables are very small too. Too much rain, it is taking ages for them to grow. Fruit trees instead are very happy this year and my beautiful olive trees are full of olives, so I'm looking forward to make extra virgin olive oil in November! 🙂

I am so glad you made a video and poured out your thoughts. I found it interesting about the AI part and what we feed it. I’ve always understood that one cannot stop progress, but that does not mean that all old fashioned things must go. Old fashioned is what builds the foundation into something strong. So I myself have found myself into similar shoes, as the whir and 2020’s lifestyle screams the “new pace” of fake foods, doom and gloom, I find myself grounding into the foundation of the earth. Going slower with the rhythm of nature. I so enjoyed listening to your thoughts and seeing your garden and crafts, tea, etc. One thing I find soothing about your home is because you truly do try to live sustainably your home isn’t a constant trend turnover so tuning in is a visual comfort of sameness like walking into an old friends home. Take care!

This is my favorite of all your videos and provided an answer to my request for Divine guidance only several hours ago. Yes, I'm doing the same as you and focusing on food, home, and creating. I did watch the first Mo Gawdat video and will watch the second tonight. It was 2 hours well spent as his video gave me an answer too, along with a more serious perspective of AI. I will be very mindful of my comments, clicks and searches from now on. Many who watch this channel are probably aware that we are encouraged to focus on what we want and not give a lot of attention to what we don't want, and to also think and speak in a positive way to help bring the best possible outcome. You said it was difficult for you to find time for this month's video, and I'm so glad you did - thank you! Thank you also to your husband for his efforts to put something together for us. Thank you for the video. I identify with feeling overwhelmed. I have a beautiful two month old baby boy and now my free time has become so rare for me. I've had to continually recalibrate what I do around the house and on screens. Asking: Does this activity nourish me or deplete me? Thank you for providing nourishing videos and giving me a different perspective to the mechanism behind all the 'feeds' of products and content the screens are giving me. Thinking: "This is like a small child's best guess for what I would like." I can now practice more compassion toward the negative things that pop up in my feeds, instead of reacting with anger. Anger doesn't nourish anyone. With love from Florida. 🧡🌺🏵🌼🌸

Your videos are always beautifully filmed and the content well considered, but this has really hit a raw nerve, especially with all the current, worrying news about AI. The point about not putting out to the world things that you don’t want AI to learn and normalise, makes so much sense to me! Fairyland always seems to be a place to get back to what is true, real and fundamental to a healthy and happy life. We must all create a space where we can do this for ourselves and our families, to the best of our different abilities. Thanks for making us think more deeply and I will for sure watch these podcasts ❤

It’s for sure going to cause a huge learning curve in how people live life. Me, while I embrace aspects of this stuff, I definitely do not want it to encroach on my life to where nothing feels real anymore. I value real experiences. Everything you say makes common sense to me . I've been watching TH-cam a lot recently and have become increasingly aware of all the bad things that are going on in this world that God made so beautiful that man has destroyed . I find myself wanting to go back in time to when life was much slower and less greedy . I grew up in the 40's and 50's when because of wars we were all in the same boat , struggling to recover from rationing and shortages . People and life seemed better then and we helped each other more .Now folk have become greedy and selfish and the amount of violence in the streets is appalling. We have come to feel entitled , to want everything on a plate . This of course is a generalisation and there are nice , decent people out there , but we have lost the knack of being grateful for what we have and we seem to want more all the time .I love your videos , they make me feel that all is not lost , they make me want to look for the good in life and to be happy in the quiet times and to slow down . I don't long for things I can't have except maybe , better health . I just plod on on from day to day , getting on with my chores and switch off from the world around me . I lost my Son on Christmas Day and it has changed me forever . I no longer give importance to lots of things that I used to . Now I'm just grateful for my remaining two Daughters and live my life as quietly as I can . I thank God for my Husband and for the 20 Grandchildren He's blessed me with .Yes , I'm grieving for my Son and always will , but I can't change that so I have to accept my loss and just be grateful for all the family I have left . I'm sorry you're having a bit of a struggle , I'm sure it will pass when you look at your beautiful Daughter and lovely Husband and the comfortable home you have made for you all , and remember that everything is in God's hands , all we can do is love each other and make the most of every day.Thank you for your lovely videos and God bless you all xxx 💕

I cannot agree with you more on this topic. Since the "age of Ai" is upon us things has been changing rapidly around us. I'm the kind of person who has a tendency to adjust to new things in a slower pace, and this process with AI scares me a little. I was not a big fan of social media and all this news and information bombarding us everywhere we look in the past years that I too was drawn back to nature more and more. And these days it's even more relevant to be present and out there, so something real like growing those tomatoes from seed in the tiny back yard, watching the bees buzzing about day on end, the rain gently falling while enjoying a cup of tea... simple things, but soo fundamental to the human experience. Sending all the positive thoughts from Scotland.

When i hear the term AI, as a not very tech oriented person what immediately pops into my mind is it's not a soul. It has no personal organic individual emotion or spirit. A clever creator might insert their own sculpted version, a facsimile of a soul, but it would only be a sort of copy. If one has an opinion that each of us humans have an individual spirit, that cannot be inserted into AI as a separate spark of life. Pygmalion, the Greek tale comes to mind. In reality, a sophisticated automata is just a machine. That doesn't mean it can't do harm to our world. It would be an artificial slave to the human who controlled it.

Hi Niamh, I so appreciate your calming presence in my life. I know you've probably already given this info in the past, but could you please share some of your favorite You Tube accounts? I'd love to have even more influence like yours but am not finding the recommendations I'd like to see. I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Katie

I look back over the content you’ve shared, how very much of your lives you’ve shared and I’m so grateful. I couldn’t be more different from you in so many ways, but my personal struggles and anxieties crave the calm you exude in these videos. I tend to be very hard on myself and when you share over and over “I’m doing the best I can…” my shoulders relax a little. I needed to hear the bit about being sure what you put out into the internet world will benefit humanity. Be kind. The thought of how big an impact that could make has me wanting to be sure I do that every time I comment. And I comment a lot ☺️. Thank you for taking the time to share. This was one of your best.
