This song can literally go with any great scenery. A late night drive, a beach with barely anyone there, walking around the forest, and more. Definitely my favorite Gorillaz song

@@jordanmartel2937 that happened to me. I first heard them 2 years ago and I was thinking to myself this is generic. I started listening to them again this year and god demon days. Gorillaz. Plastic beach albums are pure gold I haven't gotten into the others as much
Derry Cabrera yeah humanz and the now now aren’t on the same level as the first three, but there are definitely some great songs in them too (tranz is one of my faves) and there’s plenty of good songs in the other smaller albums like the fall and d-sides
It's really interesting how *Murdoc* wrote this beautiful album. Kind of impressive, to be honest. I feel like it gives us a way into his sad, tormented mind. If that makes any sense.
I love that one interview where he gets a little emotional talking about the album. Being isolated in the middle of nowhere really brought the best and the worst out of him.
When I was forced to move houses I started talking to this girl. It was during lockdown and I'd stay up late messaging her and look out my window at the streetlights and listen to Gorillaz, and Empire Antz always got me thinking of her.I got this amazing feeling in my chest every time I spoke to her. And we eventually ended up dating. It was the happiest year of my life. And a few days ago it ended. Now I can't listen to this, and the pain is unimaginable. Edit: I'm doing much better now. Happier times came, and I hope everyone who has experienced/ is experiencing anything similar is doing okay. You'll be okay.
Ligit I think it's weird the only gorillaz songs I cry too are the ones he wrote but he has endured alot of trauma in his life his dad reminds me of mine luckily hes out of town for a while so I wont get hurt. (He knows hes mean too he just doesn't care.)
@@charonsferryold I'd believe noodle wrote demon days way more than murdoc wrote empire ants but I can kind of see it. Melancholy hill sounds kiiiiiind of similar.
My best friend/brother loved the gorillaz, on march 2nd. 2010 he passed away and i was broken, march 3rd this album was released (the next day) and every year on march the 2nd i listen to this album to remind me of how blessed i am to be in this world still and be able to carry on the legend of my best friend. Its been 11 years since his passing and i still visit the album to this day.
this is the kind of song that makes you think. makes you think about life, and it just makes you so sad. gorillaz has the power to turn me from a person just gaming, to a person crying because my friend moved back to mexico. id otherwise not think about that, but this song makes my mind drift away. there are few artists that can do that to a person. this is such a powerful song, and its beautiful.
Little memories marching on Your little feet working the machine Say will it spin, will it soar My little dream working the machine Soon like a wave that pass will fall And closing in on you they're going on
I've came back to this song over and over again, and I swear it ages like wine. Such a beautiful song. Whoever else is out there thinking, hurting, or just tired of whatever bullshit is going on in your life, you've got this. You're strong enough to have made it this far, and for that, you should be proud.
This song is especially poignant during quarantine. Two years out of college, living alone, and now jobless I am stuck at home constantly contemplating what kind of "machine" I want to work with my little feet, and if it's even worth it. Ultimately this song is about suicide/the will to live for me, and to get up every day with nowhere to go and still try to make something of the day is hard. But every week or so the ruminations over life are temporarily washed away by my dreams. This song both makes me sad, and motivates me to keep going.
I think the best thing abt this song for me, is that I can listen to it anytime and feel that rush of dopamine at the beat drop. The feeling as if you’re floating. The moment when you’re on a swing, the moment in between of flying and falling, the sensation, it’s just so pleasant. I truly love this song.
Part of my desire to be a musician is thanks to Gorillaz and this song not only I enjoy how it was created but as a child it relaxed me and now as an adult it helps me calm my anxiety, it is simply a masterpiece for me along with Plastic Beach
Stay strong rhe world is in a sad state with many creeps but there is so much beauty great ppl and Gorillaz expresses that. If u didnt get depressed sometimes u would b a heartless 1 but your not Empire Ants makes me cry but then it soars BEAUTIFULLY lifts me above. The wprld is lucky 2 have you n I hope u find like minded ppl 2 share it with u sound like a wonderful person much love❤❤❤
Damon Albarn has that unique ability to write such great, memorable melodies and harmonies. The lyrics are somehow so simple but so profound. I want to live on the Polyphonic Prairie. And Yukimi Nagano's vocal is so mesmerizing- such a great track!
I can never decide which one is my favourite song from the album empire ants, melancholy hill or to binge but I hope little dragon returns for the new album
This song feels like coming home after hanging out with friends all day and seemingly having a good time. You shut the door behind you and just sit in silence and process. It’s a lonely moment.

I used to cry within the first few seconds. every time, without fail. Now, I can listen and just be filled with peace and comfort without getting overwhelmed by it. I got better, and that fact makes me smile every time I hear this song.
This song is my all time favourite song and has been ever since I played it , the first time I played it I started crying , its so beautiful and sweet but has this touch to it that just makes it 100 times better , the melody is so calm and then it just turns into something thats upbeat but still beautiful and calm and Little Dragon's voice just matches perfectly, I cant imagine what this song would be if she wasnt the one to sing in this . Gorillaz dont even have one song that disappoints me , they're an amazing band and Ive known them ever since Demon days first came out . El mañana is another perfect song , its upbeat but still has a feel to it that makes you feel so calm . Plastic Beach just has to be my favourite Gorillaz album and one of the reasons it is is because of this song , if this song wasnt in the album , I think it would've been empty . I always sing this song in school and my bestfriend gets so mad , but she'd understand why if she'd actually listen song even once .
Does anyone else wish they could hear this for the first time again. Like if I could go back in time and do it I would. It was by far my most pleasurable experience when it comes to music. I remember how my arms were covered in goose bumps.
the girl i like showed me this song a week ago (i love gorillaz just never FULLY explored their music, which now im going to) i was high as hell listening to this song, and let me tell you it was a heavenly experience. it’s only been a week but i wish i could listen to it again for the first time. i can’t imagine getting tired of this song
In a way this song has taken on new meanings for me as I’ve gotten older and older. First I saw it as just a fantastically produced song, but as I get older it’s become a beacon of hope and happiness in my life so it’s so powerful every time I come back to listen to it and Plastic Beach again
It’s kinda weird, like the first time I listened to this got extreme déjà vu, like the hardest I’ve ever felt it, and that was the very first time I’ve ever heard it. I have no idea why it happened but I feel it was supposed to happen, like they wanted us to feel something intense when we hear this odd song
Little memories, marching on Your little feet, working the machine Will it spin, will it soar My little dream, working the machine My favorite part. They have a talent for creating amazing pictures through lyrics.
Started listening to gorillaz again. Still have the CD for plastic beach and I decided to play it in my car. Man, once this song came on, all the memories unlocked. This song is the reason why this was one of my favorite albums. Driving to this song while the sun was setting, pasting by old stamping grounds, everything. I was in middle school when this came out and now I’m 25. I hate the job that work I work at, I’ve been down at times and I just look for ways that bring me back to 2010. When things were simple. I wish can go back to those days.
hell, his voice and the soothing background blend so well, and then the sudden switch between genres while maintaining that nice feeling is just, aaaaaa so good
I wish there was a video, but then again i imagine a situation where they're all in this white box that fades to indigo, and on the wall of one of the faces of the cube is the view of outside the box, which is this beautiful forest where a cartoon Little Dragon sings and alongside 2D they look at each other and stuff, quite frantic.
7 years and this is still my favorite song ever from you, i can't begin to describe how much has my life being accompanied by Gorillaz as the soundtrack
Demon Days still holds top spot for me, but I won't begrudge anyone who prefers this. Also, Cracker Beach has shot to top 3 albums for me like a rocket!
This song feels like swimming through a coral reef. It's daytime but you're so deep that the light and the colors are muted. But even so, it's beautiful down there.
The second half of this song is a great change of pace. Even though I personally like the beginning more, it's still a very solid part with great vocals and an intense instrumental that reminds me of the good type of chaos in life. Helps me be strong for anything else I'm struggling
I was first in line for a Joji concert, got there at 4:45. Lightly raining, train shooting by every 10 min, and this song was perfect. Saw this guy walking towards me a block away so I paused the song. He got in line and we started talking. He told me he just saw Gorillaz in concert and I asked his favorite song. He said this song and no doubt I told him I listened to it right when he was walking up. I’ve never seriously believed in destiny but events like this has happened a few times. Amazing concert, he, along with everyone else I met were awesome! If anyone can, I encourage you to go to a concert!
@@p0mpilius , let me put a qualifier on this. he has some songs where a lot of the time there is a very ungroovy, abrasive drill and bass part. then comes in a smooth, moody keyboard/synth jingle that, in contrast to the drill and bass part, feels amazing. the hardness of his songs makes the grooves even more powerful. i honestly initially hate most of his songs, but then when i realize what it led up to, the whole thing is amazing. the best example of this is his album "druqks".
This is my absolute favorite Gorillaz song. I love how they're exactly two ends of the spectrum. The first part is folk, calm, harmonic, and the other spectrum is an amazing jpop. I love it.
The beat drop is the best thing you can ever hear in your entire life. It felt like an old 50's summer song (The synth at 3:23 speaks for iitself!) but added a feeling of an end of a concert. Yukimi Nagano's part was amazing, I could say that for 100 times! She (and Damon/2D, of course...) encapsulated the feeling of the song, and they made it 10 times emotional. The song itself felt nostalgic, I forgot when I heard this song for the first time, no idea what my reaction was but after fully listening to it, it got me so well!
sometimes a song just rolls up in your head and it's your whole vibe for a few days at a time. how lucky to be able to hear it on demand, any amount of times.
when I was an 11 year old and first listened to this song i thought it was the most boring of the plastic beach songs... this is why children shouldn't have opinions. empire ants is one of the most enchanting experiences out of any other gorillaz song I've listened to its just so beautiful.
The most mind blowing part of this song, is the use of the string section. That level of harmonics transports me to utter bliss. Mix that with little Dragon! This song is genius!
I sware this song is about to make me cry. Somehow it just gets better every time I listen to it, and it’s just so beautiful lyrically, melodically, and in every aspect of good that a song can be. Thank you Gorillaz for bringing this into existence, and making my life just a little bit better.
I don't know about you all, but being an artist who only wants to live by herself, the only place I've ever wanted to live, I've even dreamed of this place, and money might have to be included to make it real, but... I've always wanted to live in a small house on a rocky Oceanside on a grassy hill, with a black and white striped lighthouse neighboring the small house, being my art studio and light. Whenever I hear this song, it brings me back to this scenery of that small house on a grassy hill, waves softly rolling below. Thank you Damon, Murdoc, Stuart, Russ, Noodle, for making this beautiful music. Thank you Jamie, for showing me that you can do anything and go anywhere with your artwork. Thank you Gorillaz for showing me that being yourself is nothing to be scared of, because I was scared to show myself, until three weeks ago. I feel so much better now letting this all out. Sorry to disappoint you who've read my comment this far, I needed to let this out of my system.
This wasn't disappointing at all. It was refreshing and comforting, and thanks to you tonight I remembered that part of myself that could be happy and at peace, with all this fog and fear left far far behind in the past

@@jordanmartel2937 that happened to me. I first heard them 2 years ago and I was thinking to myself this is generic. I started listening to them again this year and god demon days. Gorillaz. Plastic beach albums are pure gold
I haven't gotten into the others as much
Mario Maldonado 2020 ahead of its time I’d reckon
Derry Cabrera yeah humanz and the now now aren’t on the same level as the first three, but there are definitely some great songs in them too (tranz is one of my faves) and there’s plenty of good songs in the other smaller albums like the fall and d-sides
@@jmes3824 maybe now now and humanz will age well like older albums did
It's really interesting how *Murdoc* wrote this beautiful album. Kind of impressive, to be honest. I feel like it gives us a way into his sad, tormented mind.
If that makes any sense.
+Ashley Hallmark Yeah I see what you mean. He's nasty and has an attitide on the outside, but inside he's just a tormented soul with a horrible past.
I love that one interview where he gets a little emotional talking about the album. Being isolated in the middle of nowhere really brought the best and the worst out of him.
It's like Noodle and Demon Days the darkest album written by an energetic thirteen year old girl
Then he makes stuff like "Murdoc is God"
I’m not crying You are.

He’s so sad and tormented, no wonder he writes stuff like this.

The transition is so incredible and beautifully done. this is definitely one of Gorillaz’s best songs.
listening to this on late night drive home is the best

Part of my desire to be a musician is thanks to Gorillaz and this song not only I enjoy how it was created but as a child it relaxed me and now as an adult it helps me calm my anxiety, it is simply a masterpiece for me along with Plastic Beach

one of those songs i'm genuinely sad when it's over.
Damon Albarn has that unique ability to write such great, memorable melodies and harmonies. The lyrics are somehow so simple but so profound. I want to live on the Polyphonic Prairie. And Yukimi Nagano's vocal is so mesmerizing- such a great track!

This is the perfect song to cry to, so underrated
+mirella I couldnt agree more.

Does anyone else wish they could hear this for the first time again. Like if I could go back in time and do it I would. It was by far my most pleasurable experience when it comes to music. I remember how my arms were covered in goose bumps.

Been listening to Gorillaz since I was a kid but never heard this song until last night at their show in ATL.. fucking magical.
In a way this song has taken on new meanings for me as I’ve gotten older and older. First I saw it as just a fantastically produced song, but as I get older it’s become a beacon of hope and happiness in my life so it’s so powerful every time I come back to listen to it and Plastic Beach again
Still feels new to me, every time. Goosebumps all the time. 😊
first time for me
It’s kinda weird, like the first time I listened to this got extreme déjà vu, like the hardest I’ve ever felt it, and that was the very first time I’ve ever heard it. I have no idea why it happened but I feel it was supposed to happen, like they wanted us to feel something intense when we hear this odd song
YESSSS !!!!!!
Probably because of the electric drums in the beginning found in a lot of songs
I felt like I had heard it in my dreams before!
That's the perfect description for this song
Yes :'D ...Momento mori-
Little memories, marching on
Your little feet, working the machine
Will it spin, will it soar
My little dream, working the machine
My favorite part. They have a talent for creating amazing pictures through lyrics.
The singer of that part is called Little Dragon
Little dragon is a band I believe.
+Danny Freckels yeah I meant. Yukimi haha :)

This song feels like swimming through a coral reef. It's daytime but you're so deep that the light and the colors are muted. But even so, it's beautiful down there.
This and Melancholy Hill are the most beautiful and relaxing songs they made. I like almost all of their songs, but these are my favorites.
Am I the only one who wants to live on The Plastic Beach?

The second half of this song is a great change of pace. Even though I personally like the beginning more, it's still a very solid part with great vocals and an intense instrumental that reminds me of the good type of chaos in life. Helps me be strong for anything else I'm struggling

@@_ben_miller I've tried aphex twin and his music isn't groovy at all to me for some reason. could you recommend some of his songs?
@@p0mpilius , let me put a qualifier on this. he has some songs where a lot of the time there is a very ungroovy, abrasive drill and bass part. then comes in a smooth, moody keyboard/synth jingle that, in contrast to the drill and bass part, feels amazing. the hardness of his songs makes the grooves even more powerful. i honestly initially hate most of his songs, but then when i realize what it led up to, the whole thing is amazing. the best example of this is his album "druqks".

Agreed, it’s actually insane how deep this song hits me. Never going to forget listening to this in college…
this song is a rollercoaster of emotions
This is my absolute favorite Gorillaz song. I love how they're exactly two ends of the spectrum. The first part is folk, calm, harmonic, and the other spectrum is an amazing jpop. I love it.
12.13.14 I walked down the aisle to this song ❤️ we still love it and it’s what we answer when asked what “our song” is.

Words can't express how much I love this song
The most mind blowing part of this song, is the use of the string section. That level of harmonics transports me to utter bliss. Mix that with little Dragon! This song is genius!
This song is relaxing
I sware this song is about to make me cry.
Somehow it just gets better every time I listen to it, and it’s just so beautiful lyrically, melodically, and in every aspect of good that a song can be. Thank you Gorillaz for bringing this into existence, and making my life just a little bit better.
I was 21 cruising thru life with a bunch of good friends with good taste in music ❤
I'm scared to let my family know any of my interests. I'm a second more boring, non offensive version of myself for them 😂
Well, you never know what can happen...
Amen right there
No need to worry because I feel and have dreamt the same dream but I cry when I think about it sometimes
