So cool that The Midnight Special, and some other classic content owners, are pulling these extremely rare recordings, restoring them, maybe even enhancing them, and releasing them.
I'm 64! I'm getting high from Slade, Deep and Led along with Sabbath. I went to their concerts when I lived in Europe. Guys, let's live together. We don't need a war. I am not Putin. I am a simple Russian person. Let's enjoy life, work, girls, alcohol. Don't kill each other.
I was born in the early 60’s and listening to AM radio, I knew who bands were but, when I would see them on TV it either made me laugh or it made me “Wanna Rock”. The thing about the 70’s were the crazy as hell get ups the bands wore…from Sweet and Slade to The New York Dolls…they all had their own style. 🤘🤘🤘
Cum on Feel the Noize and Mamma We’re All Crazy Now - these guys wrote and recorded both songs along with many, many other great songs. They were a glam band, but they were loud and could really rock. Check out the BBC recordings for Slade!
The one big reason is radio airplay. Or lack of it. Idiot radio programmers ignored them, even though they had hits in the U.K.charts. Some radio station programmers wouldn't know a hit if it smacked them in the mouth. Same with the Raspberries. Another great band that should have been huge. Every single song on their albums could have been hits if only someone had the brains to give them more radio airplay.
Noddy, Was on the shortlist for AC/DC back when Bon died but he and Marc Storace from Krokus both declined the offer(s) Slade was a great band And Noddy ! What an interesting frontman!
Fantastic band, the mirrors on Noddy’s hat inspired Phil Lynott to fit a mirrored pick guard to his bass. Thin Lizzy supported Slade in the early days. 🤘Great post thank you!
Speaking of bass, I don't see one. Also, I thought this show was famous for being live music. I'm not sure how much of this was pre-recorded (like the bass - or maybe he wasn't cool enough to be on stage with these cool-cats ;) ) but that guitar solo didn't look right.
For all you MTV folks, this is the same band 10 years prior to the Run Runaway music video, apparently the platform shoes were dropped. th-cam.com/video/gMxcGaAwy-Q/w-d-xo.html
Looks live but don't think it is: a) Noddy appears to be the voice on the chorus harmonies b) No-one is playing the bass c) No-one sings the Aaaahs behind the guitar break
The drummer chewing gum while he's drumming! I guess that drumming to this song was too slow and boring for him. I wonder if he found a more busy gig after this disaster.😄
Are you going to call Gene Simmons or Ace Frehley gay too? Its Glam Rock, lots of bands wore "gay" outfits....have you seen the Babys or the New York Dolls?
Nobody ever talks about how Slade was so subdued and understated in their wardrobe.
😂
Well, when you buy everything off-the-rack, it's inevitable.
No, they do not
Well had to make up for such low key drab personalities. LMFAO
😂😂😂😂
Noddy’s voice is amazing.

Oh nice, what a rarity !!!
Midnight Special makes Thursday feel like Friday all the time.

Wow in Gibson’s Paul Stanley collection video he mentioned this guys mirror hat and here it is!
Have to have some kinda gimmick when your band sounds like sh*t.
please eleborate, you being a beatles fanboi explains alot tho.
They're very entertaining! Cool group.😎💜
This performance notwithstanding, Slade live were 🔥
Slade is awesome.

How is a band like this didn't have more success in the US, I'll never know.
Because the U.S. are conservative in their musical tastes.
The U.K. and Australia had much superior musical groups and artists.
It could be their label didn't really put much effort into promoting them, in the UK they did a lot of TV, and also did a film about a band like them.
See Quiet Riot.

They weren't successful because they sucked.
live vocals from nod the rock god" slade were the best live band of the 70,s early 80,s top" live band, sadly never" to be repeated
Noddy,
Was on the shortlist for AC/DC back when Bon died but he and Marc Storace from Krokus both declined the offer(s) Slade was a great band And Noddy ! What an interesting frontman!
I always thought Noddy would’ve been a great fit for AC/DC. Can you hear him singing those songs ?
You may have fun but you'll never have as much fun as Dave Hill, nor will you ever pull off history's worst bangs.
The worst haircut in rock history. Lol.
interesting story about how Dave’s fringe came to be… @@jasonkane8200
Best British band
Noddy's vocals live at least.
Fantastic band, the mirrors on Noddy’s hat inspired Phil Lynott to fit a mirrored pick guard to his bass. Thin Lizzy supported Slade in the early days. 🤘Great post thank you!
That mirrored hat was sold to him by no other than Freddie Mercury himself when he worked as a sales clerk on Kings Road pre-Queen fame.

Jimmy Page had the same round mirrors on his Telecaster when he was still in the Yardbirds.
My Friend Slade.
Glam rock at its glammest.

These guys caught my attention back in the day. Saw them Live in Philly. Liked their rockers… this song a B side at best.
Dave Hill Fan Club!
Oh, brother. The lead vocal was live, I guess, so better than nothing. But not by much.
They were the big inspiration for quiet riot and Joan jett.
100s of bands including Kiss and Cheap Trick
The clouds of time...I didn't remember their lip-sync'ing this show.
1:27 The drummer looks like he is thinking......" What the hell am I doing here? "
Nah. He's thinking "glad I'm back here where nobody can ID me playing this crap".
I'm a huge Slade fan but I hate to see them mime their songs!
nods vocals are live
Backstage bassist
Looks live but don't think it is:
a) Noddy appears to be the voice on the chorus harmonies
b) No-one is playing the bass
c) No-one sings the Aaaahs behind the guitar break
Dave Hill always looked like a complete divvy!
Mimed performance.
Sounds like a live lead vocal and a backing track.
@@Erdnase23 On TV in the middle of the night in 1974?
Probably not.
Probably just a mimed performance.
@@Erdnase23 I agree, if the lead vocals weren't live I'd be surprised. The rest was all canned.
Very strange
Such a strange band
I found my best in rock or i should say I found rock through ( Christianity).
Weird band, fun to watch, but still weird!!!
No surprise these guys never amounted to much in the U.S......
They're pretty much gay and total s***
Miming...It's embarrassing
No wonder I've never heard of Slade.

Dislike.
Oh yes....now I REMEMBER WHY I HATED THIS BAND. THIS IS IT. MY FKNG FRIEND STAN!!!!
