My LIFE in NORTH KOREA - a TRIP to PYONGYANG!

  • North Korea has been on my list for years and finally I made it. This short VLOG should give you a little impression of what it is like to travel to the DPRK or better known as North Korea.
I went on a 3-days tour starting in Dandong, China. I went with Young Pioneer Tours and it was an incredible experience.
I don't have an opinion on whether it was staged or not, whether they are bad or good, or how I feel about the whole trip. I went to the DPRK as a tourist and for a cultural exchange. From human to human, without a political agenda.

This is like those organized tours to Cuba. They take you to see just what they want you to see and witness.
At least in Cuba you have much more freedom to venture out on your own.
I wish you had recorded in areas aside from the European-filled train, the hotel, or the downtown area. I found it somewhat interesting only until you stated that NK is different from what the media says. Obviously, you didn’t see the real NK. Did they allow you to visit a factory, or a hospital, or speak with people in their homes all by yourself? That would have been a heck of a trip.
Anyway, As someone who loves traveling, I understand your curiosity about visiting a place such as NK even with the current limitations. Just keep it real.

Recently north Korea has let up SOME on how strict they are about filming, roaming around, and what places you visit to encourage tourism. They have realized over the years they are missing out on a lot of tourist money. But don't get it twisted they are still very strict and will lock you up for almost anything they see as a threat or not lawbiding. Main reason for this is because they are trying to become a global power and you can't do this if you have no money and you have no allies and North Korea has neither really. It's one of the poorest countries in the world like 85 percent live in poverty and they refuse to trade with any other countries allowing foreign products to flood there country. They do that to control the north Korean ppl limiting what they see and know about the outside world. But like I said lately Kim Jung Un is letting up on this because he has one mission. To be a global power and to do that u need money and allies

Even in this video you could see the tense, worried look at the faces of the resident people. And how thin they are.

Not discrediting her and her experiences, but she has fallen into this right wing narrative that everything is woke and socialism is coming BS. Travelling to NK may not help the people there in a direct way, but at least its some exposure to foreigners, even if that exposure is being kept at a vanishing minimum. Unfortunately, its not a matter of the people travelling or not travelling there. This regime only exists because China keeps supplying it with the necessary resources to keep itself sustained. If China quits that, the regime will quickly crash.

Meant constructively, the music adds nothing to the video and takes away from hearing the street noises, etc. Sometimes less really is more. With that said, great video (besides the music).

What a wonderful video about your trip to the DPRK! Thank you for sharing it with us. I have a big interest in North korea and try to watch as many videos as I can possibly watch.... OH! I DO have one question though, if you (or anyone else) has the time to reply: The flowers that everyone buys to put at the feet of the statues of their dear leaders? Where do these flowers come from? Are they grown in the DPRK or imported from China? I have watched hundreds of videos about NK, and have seen the flowers, stacked high, at the statues....but no one ever addressed where all of these flowers come from, and I have never seen any flowers being grown in any video, other than the handful that show the flowers grown that are named after the dear leaders. I've never seen anyone mention a plant nursery that grows these flowers, but they sure do sell a heck of a lot of them! And at the end of the day, where do all of these bouquets go? Are they recycled, such as perhaps they end up on the dining tables at the local hotel? Okay, I realize that was more than just 1 question, LOL, sorry! And please, can someone say about how much these bouquets cost? In US dollars? A general idea? I wonder if they charge the tourists more for them, as I've seen them charge higher rates for things that tourists encountered, vs a lower rate for the citizens of the DPRK. Thanks so much for you time, and this excellent video! i really enjoyed watching every minute of it.

I know you're trying to make it seem like you had a fun, tropical time, but you ignored the fact that you're basically locked in your hotel overnight, that you're not allowed to wander on your own, that you're subject to intense scrutiny.
