He was the perfect actor for this role. His disbelief in his son's personalities was always overcome by their love and mutual respect.Great show, writing, and casting.
It was what a family should. Be, a cop injured in the line duty met a smart woman and they had kids, for all his hard cop exterior from what was Probably a time you would fight criminals not just shot him. He's willing to accept his sons are weird, but he accepts that they are brilliant too and doesn't want to hold them back in any way, seriously he was a perfect character for any show

I did love the subtle references when the Crane men showed that they were like their dad sometimes; Frasier’s anger when pushed too far and Niles being surprisingly good at sports and shooting.
Such a funny show and rest in peace John Mahoney❤️🙏🏻❤️ One of the funniest shows ever made and love all the characters on Frasier and thank you for all the laughs! ❤️🤣❤️
I just finished binging both Cheers and Frasier for the first time on Paramount Plus. I was born in 89', But I do admit, I am envious of those who started the franchise with the premier of Cheers in 1982. Watched it alongside Wings and started Frasier afterward in 1993 and finished in 2004. That must've been a long 22 years..
This is a reason that even though Frasier went in for 11 seasons (not including the reboot) that they still came up with hilarious jokes that are still worth watching
I love this sitcom so much, I have the complete series on DVD. This episode is definitely one of my favorites. The one with Niles ironing his pants and the one with Frazier not knowing his new boss was looking for a date with him are in my top 5 favorites 😂😂
Martin, Niles, Daphne and Eddie were the heart of the show. I mean, the entire cast is perfect but those three are the reason I tuned in every week. R.I.P. John Mahoney and Moose...
When I was an Arthur Murray instructor the studio owner also owned a chopper shop that specialized in "Easy Rider" style bikes. We had a joint Christmas party and one of the shop mechanics, aptly named Animal, brought a pan of "brownies". My 80 year old client got into them and wanted to dance the Samba, over and over.
Hahaha! John Mahoney is great in this episode of Frazier-I’ve seen him on the comedy movie she’s the one and he’s good at playing the father of whichever the person! He’s hysterical in it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍
Many years ago I dated a girl who made brownies with hash oil for a friend who had cancer, but I didn't know it. Well, one day I was at her house while she was at work, and I got hungry. So I went to the fridge, and was looking around for something to snack on.... That's when I spotted the brownies, and grabbed one. I ate the entire thing, and when she got home about 1/2 an hour later, she kissed me and went into the kitchen. About 2 minutes later she came into the living room, and asked me if I had eaten a brownie, to which I replied yes.... Then her eyes got really wide, and she told me that those were hash oil brownies, and that her friend only eats just a quarter of one.... And I ate the WHOLE THING.... I ended up having the worst "trip" that lasted for almost 10 hours.... I've never eaten a brownie ever again.... Not even the store bought kind.....
Shoulda been more like "what are you making, brownies, can I have some, no, remember the last time, I can't have any? NO! You don't want any of these. Alright, here, don't have any more than this." And of course, they have more than they were given, they fall asleep in the chair by 1pm, and stay there all day, sleep through the stanley cup final game, and wake up around 4am wondering what time the game is on.
Once I got baked and for whatever reason I thought it would be a great idea to put my potatoe Chips inside the Freezer. My little sister found em and to this day she still brings it up. Hahaha freezer Chips! I was totally there 💯.
I've seen this so.many times. Hilarious. Dog army. Fridge pants. RIP John Mahoney. David Hyde Pierce, we miss you on our TVs
Such genius. Think of how they created such a character (Maris) without even being there. 😂
You Forgot BBQ Pudding Chips
Great show!
For a moment there I thought you were saying DHP was no longer with us either. Thankfully not.
YES WE DO!

David Hyde Pierce's silent movie style portrayal while ironing his pants was worthy of Chaplin and Buster Keaton
Someone that remebers
Relevance?
That was a great bit
One of my top 5 best episodes of Frasier.
This was one of the best comedy shows.
"Suit yourself, Eddie" 😂😂😂😂
Love Martin’s comments to Niles about “going straight.” 😂
That and “taste that and tell me thats not better than a woman”
The is the epitome of comedy. It's so unbelievably clever and all of these gentlemen are(were) such fine actors.
Possibly the best piece of TV ever broadcasted.
One of the best shows ever
I'm worried that I know most of the dialogue from these shows! 🤣🤣. Soo funny!
Such a funny show and rest in peace John Mahoney❤️🙏🏻❤️ One of the funniest shows ever made and love all the characters on Frasier and thank you for all the laughs! ❤️🤣❤️

And don't forget Fraiser 2024, when Fraiser goes back to Boston and Freddie is grown along with David, Daphne and Niles son
I ❤ Frasier!

This episode is hysterical I love it😅

Lol, you can see how much Frasier has softened over the seasons by the fact that he's allowing all those Christmas decorations.
RIP John Mahoney, the new show just isn't the same without him.
and Niles
Best TV comedy ever!❤😂❤😂❤
This is the first time ever seeing this episode! 🤭😂😂 SOOOOOOOOO frickin funny!!!!
@ 2:30 the talking dog's expression
Still as funny as the first time I seen this! Great show and fantastic actors!
The Christmas tree isn't the only tree that is essential at this time of year. 🎅🌳💨
One of the funniest episodes! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I can’t stop laughing and I’ve seen every episode multiple times
Since Martin can't be in the new series, i hope his chair, at least, can make a cameo.🎉
I don't see FRASIER without Martin. They'll refer to him, like they did Niles' wife, but it WON'T BE the same
This is my favourite episode, beautifully done, so funny - thank you John Mahoney, your brilliance will always shine ❤
Suit yourself, Eddie. 😂😂
That was a great one, he did that so well.
This may have been the funniest episode of the series

Which state were you an instructor in?
@mauricericher3816 Colorado
Who cares?
Just a fantastic episode!
martin just made a gentle giant reference
This is one of the most hilarious episodes ever!!!
are you serious? only someone over 50 would enjoy this. such boomer humor with a laugh track to tell you when you're supposed to laugh
I had a reason... ... fridge pants. 🤣🤣🤣
❤ John Mahoney 😂
If you eat a brownie while watching these scenes, you will literally go insane with laughter.
John Mahoney was so excellent in Frasier 😊
Dad,where are your pants?😂
In the fridge. I had a reason. Fridge pants.....
Good holiday cheer.
Best series of all time
No, Cheers was!!
High holidays one of my favorite episodes a long with ham radio
john mahony was from my town, blackpool in england you woulnt guess it with his american accent
One of the best comedies ever. Superb all around! This and WKRP in Cincinnati :) 🐶☃️🎭🎬🥂
Love both this show and the new series!
Hahaha! John Mahoney is great in this episode of Frazier-I’ve seen him on the comedy movie she’s the one and he’s good at playing the father of whichever the person! He’s hysterical in it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍
This episode has been out of the rotation on Hallmark because of the plot
I hate censorship.
Oh my my...hallmark are idiots any way
Can’t believe I never have seen this!
Hilarious!!
And me, just having made a huge batch of brownies...😉😅😂😂🙈🙉🙊🐌🐌
And where do you live?
@@robinwalsh9542 Were they "special brownies"?

Actually this one was pretty funny 🤣 👍👍

For comparison, Barney Miller Hash Brownie episode. Third Season
Look at this and then watch the reboot and tell me they didnt mess up 😂
Love this episode

Fantastic ❤😂
This was just on last night on Cozi TV in Seattle
That was the funniest episode!
Omg I miss him
Out of context, this is even funnier!
Perfect 🙏🏻
This is hilarious 😂😂
It can never be recreated never at least it is there to view to forget about our current troubles.
Best show on tv
Niles thinking he's being called out for being a flamer. lol
The opposite is true. Being high can help people get into the creative flow.
"I had a reason... fridge pants"
Too funny.
Best TV show ever!
This episode was hilarious. Hallmark channel won’t play this episode because that channel is so righteous 🙄
Love this show and the reboot is really good too!!!!
Brilliant 🎉😂
Hallmark is ridiculous at times.
"better go lie down before it hits me" might just be a little to late.....
Shame David Hyde Peirce isn't n the reboot... His son David is a good mix of Niles and Sheldon though.
One of the best Christmas episodes any sitcom has ever done.
This was such a great show. Next to I Love Lucy, it is the best.
I wish real edibles were that good
Barney Miller did this first with hash brownies. Mushy mushy.
Missing from the Hallmark channel episodes for some reason.
@ 1:15 better than a woman
😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅
I've never seen this one 🎅
The broadcaster ch4 here in the UK doesn't show this episode as we are uncivilised neanderthals and can't handle it.
been there. not fun.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤
🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣
Its not as good as the Barney Miller cops high on HASHISH. In fact its just silly. Not the way people really act when high.
True
FRASIER WAS BETTER THAN THE LATER SHOWS OF CHEERS . CHEERS WASN’T THE SAME WITHOUT COACH AND DIANE .
This is not funny in real life. I ate a whole one once and thought I was about to die. If he really ate a whole one he would have called an ambulance.
Meh, not that funny. This series continued for too many seasons. They ran out of original ideas long befor this.
Nothing funny about drugs
Great , great , Show all .
only missing was Dad Eddie is staring at me again
