He was still playing the lounge there, just cut Danke Schoen (single and album, courtesy of his friend Bobby Darin who cut a damn good album at the Flamingo that year) and was on his way to being Mr. Las Vegas!
At 19, my family visited Las Vegas 1977 as part of a summer vacation... no gambling just see the sights and lights, and the Follies at the Trop. ... I've had no desire to return that may spoil my good memories...

Much like L.A. they kept virtually nothing of this cherished history. Las Vegas is a fricking desert 🌵. There was no reason to tear down and replace. All they had to do was build from the strip 10 miles south and 10 miles north and had a huge town that wasn’t just concentrating on the five miles in the middle. Too bad but Las Vegas lost it’s feeling of freedom and the wild Wild West decades ago. Some history is worth preserving! They completely paved over the rat pack and Elvis which is probably the most exciting time in semi-modern history of Vegas, completely gone. However newer generations really don’t care 🤷♂️ Thank god for the El Cortez, the only place left that I feel at home.
The whole reason Las Vegas exists is because the allure of danger, risk, joy, the possibility of huge gains and the rubbing elbows with the criminal empire and the thrill of freedom that brought to the average Joe. This feeling has long sense past and turned into a corporate money 💰 draining machine! The illusion of mega resorts suck you dry of cash without the feeling of getting much in return. The (mob ran Las Vegas had a different feel). They at least gave you something in return: cheap rooms, shows with top rated entertainment for almost no cost (in comparison to today, when a friend of mine wast charged $28 for a pack of cigarettes that used to be given away free at gambling tables when I was a kid in the 1960’s). The mob knew that if you let someone win once in awhile, that would bring back repeat business and this included 75c shrimp 🍤 cocktails and 50c well drinks at “the Mint downtown”, $2.95 steak and egg, $5.00 buffets etc. Rooms for $15 at the Stardust. All these bargains kept people coming back multiple times even if they lost $500-$1000 dollars gambling (which converts to $8,000 today). The bottom line is Vegas was fun and some people went every weekend like clockwork. Now Las Vegas is just a huge money drainer which leaves you feeling empty and sad 😞. When you used to leave you feeling like you had a lot of fun but better luck next time! The mob knew that you had to give a good value to keep people coming back and risk your money on the tables!
1963 i remember going to Fremont theater or the Guilt theater or El portal theater on Saturday matinee or walking around Fremont Street.or going to the Serene room and play pinball machines or walk over to trader bills or walk down Orange Julio's or go it a burger At wimpy's hamburger. Those were good days boy do i remember Fremont Street

Its so sad You can find this lodge on tripadvisor under a new name and become the worst of all time in vegas and today its a bad neighbourhood with lots of homeless people around this place.
That's so true my dream is to by out and old plot of land somewhere on route 66 and just reproduce old neon signs from all over the countrie along with the buildings and with a 1880s street and a 1920s street a 1950s main street along with old houses it is supposed to be a time machine boy do want this to happen
Come on people, do some real RESEARCH. Starting at 4:10 the film is no longer from 1963! All the cars are early 50's. People are not stupid & credibility is important if you want subscribers.

Cut to 4:10 and this is 10 years earlier circa 1952-1953.
Also, there’s a great deal of footage of the "Last Frontier," which was renamed the "New Frontier" In 1955.
Yes. Only part of this film is 1963...and part of it must be early 1950s as evidenced by the automobiles.
