I had a CRAO in 1/2016 and lost vision in my left eye. I am a female and was 40 years old when it happened. Although I have HTN, it was under control with BP meds. The doctors tested me extensively and could not find the cause. I was an avid marathon runner prior to this event, and I think it may have triggered an isolated incident of A-fib. I say this because I stopped running and had a cardiac loop recorder implanted after the CRAO, and it has only detected SVTs thus far. Thank you for posting this video, I will show it to my family and friends that can’t comprehend why I just can’t have surgery to restore vision. At this point, I am just happy to be alive.

Hey.. Would like to get in touch with you as both of us seem to be going through a rare(at least not so common) eye condition.

I had a BRAO on 6th Sept 2018. I am 52 years old and I have no systemic disease. My BP stays around 130/90, no diabetes. I am an active healthy individual. On the morning of 6th Sept I got up and had blocked vision in my left eye. That's it. Over the next few days I underwent extensive tests of the eye and of other vital organs. Doctors couldn't find the cause. By 4th day, my upper half vision in the left eye stayed blocked while the central vision returned. And now two months after the the event, it remains the same.
My only concern is that it should not deteriorate any further. Doctors say there are no do's and dont's... . There's nothing they can do..

I was 49, perfect health. I was on a very low dose of Premarin for 9 weeks, which, they think, was the trigger. The challenge I face, which no one understands, is a certain level of cognitive fatigue that comes from constantly trying to compensate for the vision loss. Thanks for posting your comment.

Heather DeCosta Hi Heather, my name is Beverly. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I also had a CRAO in Jan. 2016. They tested me for multiple things, including a protein deficiency to see if I had a clotting disorder. I think that is what the antithrombin 111 test is. Stay strong and best of luck to you.

Heather DeCosta Hi Heather, the doctors put me on daily Aspirin, along with several other meds, but no other anticoagulants. Today, I am still stuggling with the vision loss. I am not the same and I have to be cautious with all activities. I still walk into things. Do you have regular email or facebook? You can contact me that way if it’s easier
