Can a person with giant cell arteritis experience vision loss in both eyes without any pain? From what I've read pain is number one symptom and typically this presents in only one eye, yet doctors are saying that my mother is experiencing eye loss due to GCA. At the same time she's had an occipital stroke which seems older (couple months old) and so doesn't line up with her current sypmtoms. So the other question is, can latent symptoms (i.e. blindness) occur in patients experiencing an occipital stroke?

I had both. First, orbital cellulitis. Not long after, I had pre-septal cellulitis (about a month, maybe). Strange that the infections followed that pattern. The OC developed very quickly. I went from no symptoms to hospitalized with a giant head in 3 days. It looked like I was hit in the eye with a baseball with the OC. Plus, my face/head was way bigger than normal. What was that movie with Cher and that red-headed kid with the big face? Along those lines.. Keep up the good work, future lifesavers!

Detached retina of my right eye, while undergoing CHEMOTHERAPY for breast cancer and was in hospital for MRSA in port. Horrible surgery, with buckle placement, which couldn't be done until the MRSA cleared up. Then detached again same eye, a year later.

I have had puffy eyelids for as long as I can remember, most likely since when I had periorbital cellulitis as a kid, so at least 10 years, it has never gone away and this is the video I assume is the most relevant to what I have. If you have any knowledge on how this can result in lasting sag/sensitivity to the sun that sort of thing, or anything relevant, please please assist me. Thanks

Big difference between cellulitis and cellulite. Cellulitis is painful skin infection..not the cottage cheese fatty deposits. That's cellulite.

My father (86 years) has lost allthe vision from both the eyes, has become total blind after a few years of cataract replacement surgery. Doctors said it is due to retina problem or retina detachment. Can vision on his eyes be restored ?? If possible please advise me. Where to consult ???

Heather DeCosta Hi Heather, my name is Beverly. I’m so sorry this happened to you. I also had a CRAO in Jan. 2016. They tested me for multiple things, including a protein deficiency to see if I had a clotting disorder. I think that is what the antithrombin 111 test is. Stay strong and best of luck to you.

Treated for orbital cellulitis via 48 hours IV antibiotics in hospital, continued with oral antibiotics for 7 days. Went to primary care doctor today, the doc looked at my eye said my eye looked good. Is it unusual they didn’t do blood test to make sure it is gone? This is the only eye I have, low vision is due to Retinopathy of Prematurity, 20/100 visual acuity. They said it was caused from sinus problem.

I had a BRAO on 6th Sept 2018. I am 52 years old and I have no systemic disease. My BP stays around 130/90, no diabetes. I am an active healthy individual. On the morning of 6th Sept I got up and had blocked vision in my left eye. That's it. Over the next few days I underwent extensive tests of the eye and of other vital organs. Doctors couldn't find the cause. By 4th day, my upper half vision in the left eye stayed blocked while the central vision returned. And now two months after the the event, it remains the same. My only concern is that it should not deteriorate any further. Doctors say there are no do's and dont's... . There's nothing they can do..

I was 49, perfect health. I was on a very low dose of Premarin for 9 weeks, which, they think, was the trigger. The challenge I face, which no one understands, is a certain level of cognitive fatigue that comes from constantly trying to compensate for the vision loss. Thanks for posting your comment.

I had a CRAO in 1/2016 and lost vision in my left eye. I am a female and was 40 years old when it happened. Although I have HTN, it was under control with BP meds. The doctors tested me extensively and could not find the cause. I was an avid marathon runner prior to this event, and I think it may have triggered an isolated incident of A-fib. I say this because I stopped running and had a cardiac loop recorder implanted after the CRAO, and it has only detected SVTs thus far. Thank you for posting this video, I will show it to my family and friends that can’t comprehend why I just can’t have surgery to restore vision. At this point, I am just happy to be alive.
