I love this layout!
Thank you! It has reached a level of development at this point that I really love operating it, too! I know there is lots more that could be done for improvement, but isn't that the way model railroads are supposed to be? I've always said "no model railroad is ever finished, until the day you tear it down".
@@HappyHoboTrains that is true. My layout is no where near done (no scenery, etc) but I’m pretty sure it will never be finished. and to be honest. I hope not. It must get boring to not have something to add or work on in a layout. I guess that’s what details and Easter eggs are for
Another good one Don. Enjoyed the video tours of your railroad, and of course I always enjoy the opportunity to experience the operating sessions.
Some day. Sigh...
Absolutely love it I’m in the actual research/design phase and will be doing detailed layout on the mountain division from possibly interval to Whitefield basically want to do Crawford’s notch fabyans Willy brook bridge Ect and mainly Bartley engine facility with wye if you can be in touch with me that would be amazing. Please reply if possible thanks
The era I’m shooting for is 1905-1945 I have a couple 2-6-6-2’s descaled for the number series 1201-1204 I need to find someone and do much more research on the Bartlett round house and lay switches due to the length of the articulated monsters
I would be pleased to offer any information that I can. Get Herron Rail's video of Glory Machines, Mountain Division, and try to find a copy of the Mountain Division book by the 470 RR club, long out of print. It's a gold mine. (Herron used it as a reference while producing the Mountain Division video in 1980!)
Yes the movie/video is absolutely fascinating if you go up bear notch to Albany towards Lincoln we have a cabin up there and ever since I’ve been a kid I’ve been hook line and sinker and building a roster of locomotives Ect and awhile ago I wish I was bc paying more attention I know I’ll have to scratch build the Bartlett round house but others I wish o bought them tho like north Conways station Ect
I have to talk with someone from Bartlett round house preservation team to get a detailed track plan of the area bc that will be the main focal point of the layout
Where are you located in Florida?
Where did you get the crawford notch station. Did you make it yourself?
The station was scratchbuilt in the 1980's by good friend Glenn Bartolotti, who also built the Mount Willard dwelling. I provided him with photos and measurements for the station, and the Mount Willard dwelling was measured by guestimates from older published photos. Glenn is well known for his military modelling and figure painting, as well as having done a few railroad projects for Mainline Modeler magazine. I believe a kit was available for the station for a brief period a few years after Glenn built mine. Naturally!
What a great video. This is a fun layout to operate and I love how you have caught that and the great scenery in these videos. Looking forward to more.
As I said to John, some day. By the time we can do this again, there will be some new stuff to see!
is this in TAMPA
