I can’t wait to grab one of these!!!! I’m trying to grow my little channel and this is going to help tremendously!!! Thank you as always for your expertise ☺️
When I'm vlogging these days I pretend I'm on a video call with someone when I'm in public! I film all my videos on my phone, so this strategy works pretty well actually! I think most people are more interested in my conversation and don't even realize I'm vlogging! Or don't notice at all
That's literally what I was thinking! If you happen to be in public and video chatting with a friend, you wouldn't feel embarrassed about showing them stuff right?? I'd be excited about that 😊
In general, for vloggers who are worried about what others are thinking, I'd say most people are thinking "don't film me" followed by "don't spend forever in the same spot if it's iconic/famous/likely to be where others also want to film and/or take pictures". Being respectful in these regards should go far!
Yeah I was at a temple in Indonesia and it was pretty busy and these 2 Russian bloggers were purposely taking up the entire main walkway and kept doing take after take after take and scoffing at people walking by, it was so cringe and entitled.
We are cringey and we accept it haha. Also mostly when people do watch or see us vlog I know its just curiosity and people normal just give a little smile and get on with their day. Great advise. xx
I just travelled from Australia to New York to film travel vlogs for my channel. This was my first solo trip and as someone with anxiety I struggled to pull the camera out at first (especially on the plane) …but as the series goes on you can see me get more confident. I think walking whilst talking definitely helped me, as well as thinking of it as my job. Also people don’t know you don’t have thousands of subscribers either so the opposite is true. 😂 I also told myself who cares if people think I’m weird, it’s not like I’m going to see them ever again. I had people ask what I was doing so I explained and handed them my card and they subscribed so I guess it’s also a way to get new viewers. The more you do it, the more confident you get (to a degree) and start to enjoy it more. I also wrote down note cards with what to say about different places before I went, so I used those when filming as sometimes the mind goes blank once the camera is out 😂
I noticed that when I vlog in public, most people are curious about what im doing and I actually gain subs that way. And remember, Its only Awkward if you want it to be! Great video❤️
I was innately shy as a child but my first confidence builder was becoming a professional fashion model walking the runway, terrifying at first (my chest and face turned red) but it never did again after that first show. Then I became a professional photographer and it's hard to remember I was ever shy up until I was 18 but I was.
I found you recently and I keep finding myself binge watching you regularly. I appreciate you just the way you are (beautiful and NOT annoying like other folks), the way you communicate and the way you encourage me to get better at what i am doing. Thank you.
I prefer to travel vlog because I know I'll probably never see those people again. That mindset helps a lot. I'm less nervous filming in my own city now too.
Such good advice ! It is a biggie vlogging in public ! There is that thing where you feel crazy talking to camera in front of people and making it feel ok to do! I recently vlogged walking around Brussels . Doing it for me is the best way to get over doing it, thanks for sharing some really great tips!😊
I love how relatable you are. Watch your tutorials regularly. If you ever come to Thailand, please let's collaborate. I would love to interview you for my channel (148k subs). I know it might be out of the way, but who knows! I'm just throwing it out there 😂
Nice video, thanks. It helps to remember that in most cases you will never see random strangers again. So even if you're cringe, who cares. Even the strangers don't care, for the most part. They have their own fears and insecurities
Thanks for this! I think the most useful for me has been to hear how much you've struggled and how even when being used to it, you still have these feelings of being awkward... Yet looking super comfortable and confident on the end result!
I attempted my first public vlog this week, and as soon as I pressed record there were people walking by every time. This was exactly the video I needed. 👍👍
I have wanted to dip my toes into the vlogging world for years, but have always been intimidated. I have been subbed to your channel for a long time, and this is possibly the video that really resonated most with me.
The walk & talk is a game changer! It makes you feel like you're having a regular conversation w/ someone. #LessStressful PS: Love your videos, Katie! ☕
“Accepting the cringe” Very good advice. I’ve been doing attempts on making cinematic videos for some years now and I really like it. I don’t have views but I don’t mind since for me it’s more of a personal thing and a fun hobby. My wife and I travel a bit and it’s fun to do and I just love to shoot videos and making memories when we do. My wife would like to add a vlog type thing to it so this video helps out a lot! Thanks!
Thanks for the tips , I have been heckled with the Insta Flow before , just keep filming and even include the heckler in your footage it brings laughter and views
Just pretend (imagine) you're FaceTiming someone. For whatever reason, that's seems more easily acceptable to me. LOL. Just really getting started doing this...
Ive accepted it. But maybe its a lot easier when i already have a fan based. People judge less unfortunately when youre already established. My best advice for new people is to just be respectful and confident doing it. Try to even use a small camera in crowded places
Your tips are always SO real and helpful, thank you! Visiting Pakistan and vlogging here for the first time. This is a place where everyone stares at you (friendly curiosity, even if you're an overseas Pakistani) all the time...let alone if you're doing something crazy like vlogging lol. Your tips will def come in handy :)
Literally what I needed to hear!! 🥲 Thanks Katie for being so relatable and for all the tips! I also feel that it’s less awkward when you’re doing vlogs with a partner because then it feels like a conversation between both of you, or maybe also because there’re 2 awkward people now 😝
This is what keeps me from getting started even though I want to. Thanks for the tips!! I have a vacation coming up g up I’d like to vlog and I feel it’s easier when I’m on a trip than at home… Right now I have my phone and a GoPro but very interested in the pocket 3.
For people who are struggling with the social anxiety of filming in public - I think of it this way - I've done worse for a job/money. If you've ever had to go up to someone and start a conversation with them or fake compliment them to try and get their guard down, or on a sales call try to get them to stay on the phone with you for X amount of time, or whatever it is... it probably was worse and wasn't on your terms. This at the very least, is on your terms and hopefully it'll turn out to be worth it (unlike every other job I've ever had LOL).
I’m in that awkward phase where I, starting to film and edit but haven’t posted yet. Totally love my insta360 flow. It’s definitely come in handy and I hope they release an updated version soon. Love your videos and their messages.
Thanks for sharing these tips Katie! I'm happy to see they're things I personally do without necessarily thinking about it. It was cool to see I am taking the right steps!! It's so refreshing to know that no matter how successful you have become as a 'vlogger', you're still human and feel that awkwardness when filming in public! Loved this super relatable video!!!
TBH i've always shied away from showing myself in videos, thinking 'why would anyone want to see my face?' I've also noticed that my face does odd things as soon as a camera is trained on it, adding to the anxiety. Your suggestions are what I needed to get over that hump. Thanks!
yeah good advice. i used to feel a way too. wanted to record when no one is around, now i pop my camera out whenever. i guess it takes real reps to get used to it. thanks for the extra tips
Thank you for this video! I was literally looking for videos about this topic a few days ago because I am going to Korea and I want to vlog, but I am scared and nervous of doing fir the first time and this video from your is a sign that I should start vlogging even though I am nervous and scared ✨
I just did my first solo trip to film a vlog and can relate to how you are feeling. I was so anxious at first but the more I did it the more comfortable I felt. Katie’s tips were basically all the things I did and it really does help. Have a great time!
okay this is my third video of yours and ive wanted to get every single sponsored item youve mentioned in each one xD lmaoooo you're content creation is badass!!!
We are also travel vloggers and the one thing i always keep in my mind when being somewhere "touristy" is that most of the people around you dont even know you exist. They are solely looking at whatever attraction is around. And especially on cruise ships, you are just another face in the crowd taking video of yourself. Some people actually know youre doing and will come ask you about your channel or whatever. Ive gotten a quite few subs from other cruisers just because they follow other vloggers and want to say they met one.
Great tips and honestly it's soooo awkward in the beginning, but we jumped into it and began anyway. Quickly we found out that people look, because it's interesting and they're curious 😃 Sometimes it's even useful to tell yourself that you're a TH-camr and pretend it's all normal. I think we feel more awkward ourselves than our surroundings do 😉
Thanks so much for these! I've been vlogging in public since 2014. I waddle when I walk so I have to stand still. I've switched to my phone since they are now better than many point and shoot cameras. This gimbal looks incredible! I definitely need one!
I bought the dji osmo pocket 3 and it’s perfect when I vlog because it’s so tiny you don’t have a big camera that can bring lots of attention. Even smaller than a phone. I use to vlog with my phone but now I feel even more comfortable with this (even if it doesn’t remove all social anxiety)
I think getting a wireless microphone helps a lot. I remember vlogging my first video and i tried to speak louder because i was afraid my voice wouldn’t be heard, and i get stares from people nearby. 😂
I just wanna vlog because i want to make memories and don't care too much about subscribers and would like to gain confidence in videos since I tend to freeze in public when making a simple video of me talking . I just wanna show my family one day that i can vlog well
Whoa this is incredible! Love that Insta gimbal! We have all kinds of camera gadgets even the Insta go 3 and love it. But yes, agree that people can be so funny and act completely differently when we’re filming with a GoPro or Sony as opposed to a normal, casual, everyday iPhone. Such a weird phenomenon. I’ve learned not to care because chances are I’ll never see these people again and they’ll forget about me literally 5 seconds later anyway. Great video! Adding the gimbal to the list. That Timelapse pan feature sold me! Love your content, Katie!
To those who haven’t started because of public anxiety; the way I see it, you’re either a creator or a consumer of content. Creators can’t be mad at consumers for consuming too much because we want them to watch our content, meanwhile consumers can’t be mad at creators for annoyingly creating our content because if it wasn’t for us, they’d simply have nothing to watch! There ain’t nothin on TV! And I know the lady that grumbled at me for having my Sony out in public went home and binged some TH-cam or TikTok that night. Lol how else do they think this stuff ends up here? We had to pull out the camera! Good thing is, there are more people out there who support it than don’t ☺️ A lot of times, they wish they had the courage or time to try it. So do your thang. No shame.
Hi Katie! I love everything you share about vlogging... you may be too young to remember this, but I do,😅 when mobile phones had just started I remember people being embarrassed to talk on the phone and walk at the same time.. and you see today, so I think it's just a change of perspective. 😘
Very Nice Video Katie! You shared some very good ideas which I will try. Thank you! I finally landed on Osmo Pocket 3 after using my mirror-less camera, and mobile phone with Gimbal. ...form factor is small, picture quality is solid.
There are times I feel like a total nerd in public, swinging a 3m long selfie stick around you do get some strange looks but the shots you can get are amazing with a 360 camera! (another Insta product which is very good) That Flow selfie stick is definitely worth checking out, thank you for showcasing this so well, great video! New subs here 🙂Mark.
This is excellent advice, thanks Katie! I certainly struggle with the social anxiety of filming in public, which I have to do a lot for food & travel content 😅
Some great advice here, Katie! Especially the bit about accepting the cringe! I love your authenticity 😊. I've got a DJI gimbal which is good but I think I bent something in the arm so it doesn't quite sit right now (bummer). Maybe when I'm ready to change it, I'll check out the Insta 360 because it doesn't look like I can bend it lol!!
Love your content! I'm trying to get more comfortable with vlogging public. Generally, It does not bother me when I'm vlogging on vacation but in a regular weekly vlog I get so nervous lol! BTW where did you get that sling bag? It's super cute!!!
Another fantastic video Katie and thanks for the vlogging filming tips so we don't get social anxiety while filming. You might need to be careful about filming others if you haven't gotten their consent for them to be in your vlogs. Love 🥰 this video and love 💕 Katie.
Great tips, in my case I use small microphones and a gimball, however, the key piece here is the microphone because it's a lavalier so I can move my head to another point and not directly to the camera and I don't have to yell in the camera direction
Awesome video! Quick question, when you’re shooting on a vlogging camera in landscape, can you use that same footage for social media apps like TikTok? Might be an obvious answer, but I honestly don’t know so that’s why I’m asking 😊. I guess I’m wondering if you have to use your vlogging camera strictly for TH-cam and your iPhone strictly for shooting for social media. Thanks for the awesome video!!
I tell myself if people can have loud conversations on their phones in public with all the confidence in the world - then why don't I piggy back off that confidence for myself?! 😂
@@vlo4829 haha well that is true, however it is something that helped me get over some of my initial hesitation in confidence, I guess we can't control what others think. As long as we're not being obnoxious or disrespectful of people or places then hopefully others would be kinder with us 😊

I bought one using your link. I have been spying on this gimbl for a while 😁
I can’t wait to grab one of these!!!! I’m trying to grow my little channel and this is going to help tremendously!!! Thank you as always for your expertise ☺️
I can wait to get one of this ❤
Number❤🎉

That's literally what I was thinking! If you happen to be in public and video chatting with a friend, you wouldn't feel embarrassed about showing them stuff right?? I'd be excited about that 😊
I do this with b roll too! I pretend I'm recording a Snapchat or something to my story 😂😂
Lol i do the same
Love this!
This a great idea let me try this as well
In general, for vloggers who are worried about what others are thinking, I'd say most people are thinking "don't film me" followed by "don't spend forever in the same spot if it's iconic/famous/likely to be where others also want to film and/or take pictures". I'm going to travel round Australia this year so excited to make some vlogs. I'll check out your channel. 😀
Seems that more people watch you walking on the street than in TH-cam..
I noticed that when I vlog in public, most people are curious about what im doing and I actually gain subs that way.
And remember,

Great video❤️
So true, vlogging has made me 100 times more confident with everything in life!
I was innately shy as a child but my first confidence builder was becoming a professional fashion model walking the runway, terrifying at first (my chest and face turned red) but it never did again after that first show. Then I became a professional photographer and it's hard to remember I was ever shy up until I was 18 but I was.
Social anxiety is the reason I have never done vlogging but Im just going to go for it and start my channel again
I'm about to shoot my travel vlog and this is exactly what I needed. Thanks for your practical tips!
that's so exciting! glad I could help ♥️
And yes, despite already vlogging for 3 years and gaining a lot of followers doing so, i still truly struggle every single time...
I found you recently and I keep finding myself binge watching you regularly. I appreciate you just the way you are (beautiful and NOT annoying like other folks), the way you communicate and the way you encourage me to get better at what i am doing. Thank you.
you really do make the EXACT video i need every time 😭 idk how u do it
haha i'm so glad to hear that!!
@@katie ♥️
I prefer to travel vlog because I know I'll probably never see those people again. That mindset helps a lot. I'm less nervous filming in my own city now too.
You are a natural Katie. Who knew???? You make it look so easy, thanks for another sincere and helpful video.

I bet half are jealous you're being brave and doing it and half don't care and 1% are judging (who cares what THEY think).
Thanks for this! I think the most useful for me has been to hear how much you've struggled and how even when being used to it, you still have these feelings of being awkward... Yet looking super comfortable and confident on the end result!

Just pretend (imagine) you're FaceTiming someone. For whatever reason, that's seems more easily acceptable to me. LOL. Just really getting started doing this...
Literally that’s how I started on TikTok, it was short so I was talking and stuff and then I grew… you are absolutely right.
Ive accepted it. But maybe its a lot easier when i already have a fan based. People judge less unfortunately when youre already established.

Yes! Thank you for making this video, I’ve never vlogged in public because I always felt so ridiculous, but these tips are gold!
Looove the tip about preparing deeper questions to ask yourself! I think this’ll help me feel more comfortable creating spontaneous videos! 💕
Thank you for the tips, Katie! I will definitely be incorporating some of them in my next video!
For people who are struggling with the social anxiety of filming in public - I think of it this way - I've done worse for a job/money. I always love watching your videos. I love your vibe and aesthetic style.
This came just in time…I’m hoping (*hoping!*) to vlog an event this Friday. Thank you so much for this, Katie!!
I’m in that awkward phase where I, starting to film and edit but haven’t posted yet. Totally love my insta360 flow. It’s definitely come in handy and I hope they release an updated version soon. Love your videos and their messages.
Oh my god I love your vibe! You rock and I think this planet and this platform needs mor humans like you! Instant subscribe!!
Excellent. I just use my phone. Otherwise, it's very awkward. Another great video Katie.
I really appreciate this topic! Thank you for covering this. Your videos and transparency have really helped me. 🙏🏾😊
amazing video and I LOVEEE the b-roll bits you added of yourself, makes someone like me who is very visual see what you mean! ty for the tips 💘
I am new in Vlogging, and I am still learning. Watching your video inspires me to go on ❤❤!
Thank for this video! I find myself not knowing what to say sometimes in my vlogs, so the questions you provided are so helpful :)
My 360 x has just arrived and cant wait to start using it 😊
TBH i've always shied away from showing myself in videos, thinking 'why would anyone want to see my face?' I've also noticed that my face does odd things as soon as a camera is trained on it, adding to the anxiety. Your suggestions are what I needed to get over that hump. Thanks!
But those are the things that makes you authentic and relatable.
I recently started vlogging and getting comfortable doing it in public is a struggle. Thank you for sharing these tips, will be putting to use!
yeah good advice. i used to feel a way too. wanted to record when no one is around, now i pop my camera out whenever. i guess it takes real reps to get used to it. thanks for the extra tips
Thank you for this video! I was literally looking for videos about this topic a few days ago because I am going to Korea and I want to vlog, but I am scared and nervous of doing fir the first time and this video from your is a sign that I should start vlogging even though I am nervous and scared ✨

Thank you for this video and discount link. Turning my eye towards vlogging and find your channel helpful. Ordered the gimble. I needed one!
Some great tips! Honestly, I've been doing it now for 3 years, and my social anxiety just seems to continue to worsen lol. Safe travels, friend!
Thank you for these, I already feel the anxiety going down 😮💨
Before TH-cam i have watch your video's and was following your channel longtime ago thank you and now i am doing better watching from Sri Lanka ❤
Needed this katie! I just got a dji osmo pocket 3 and I have been stuck in this very struggle. Great vid, As usual 😅 thanks!

I just ordered my Insta360 Flow.😁
I can’t wait to play with it !👍🏼
Thank you for the discount !
Great tips. thank you keep up the good work C
Great content! Will help a lot when filming in public! And can’t wait to get my hands on this Flow!
Thank you so much! I’m very uncomfortable in some public places❤️ I love all your videos
it all takes practise to get used to! thanks for watching ♥
You're a total legend Katie! Great tips!

I just wanna vlog because i want to make memories and don't care too much about subscribers and would like to gain confidence in videos since I tend to freeze in public when making a simple video of me talking . I just wanna show my family one day that i can vlog well
Thanks, Katie. Good suggestions and very helpful. I feel awkward but know I just need to get over it! I just am vlogging for fun anyway.

I filmed myself while driving (yes I was paying attention to the road) haha but I just uploaded my 1st YT vid today 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Very Nice Video Katie! You shared some very good ideas which I will try. Thank you!
I finally landed on Osmo Pocket 3 after using my mirror-less camera, and mobile phone with Gimbal. ...form factor is small, picture quality is solid.
I think you made a good choice with the pocket 3. Its small, unobtrusive and you don‘t have to carry much stuff and weight.
Katie. You are a genius. This video has answered some questions I Had since long time ago. Greetings from Ecuador.
That Insta360 Flow looks awesome!
There are times I feel like a total nerd in public, swinging a 3m long selfie stick around you do get some strange looks but the shots you can get are amazing with a 360 camera! (another Insta product which is very good)
That Flow selfie stick is definitely worth checking out, thank you for showcasing this so well, great video! New subs here 🙂Mark.
This is so helpful, thank you! The 360 flow looks really cool.
This is excellent advice, thanks Katie! I certainly struggle with the social anxiety of filming in public, which I have to do a lot for food & travel content 😅
I appreciate your tips on vlogging in public. Excellent video!
Thank you!! I am trying to psche myself up to do this on my next trip but so far am just feeling nauseous about it 😩
At 5:40, what did you have the gimbal on to get that standing/eye-level shot? Will it attach to a taller tripod?
Thank you. I’m gone start thinking before I speak in stuttering and deer in eyes especially around people ❤
Great tips! Thank you for always giving so much value in your videos! 🙏🏽
This is right on time!!!! Thank you!
Love your content! I'm trying to get more comfortable with vlogging public. Generally, It does not bother me when I'm vlogging on vacation but in a regular weekly vlog I get so nervous lol! BTW where did you get that sling bag? It's super cute!!!
Thank you for this video! Got me pumped to start vlogging
Another fantastic video Katie and thanks for the vlogging filming tips so we don't get social anxiety while filming. You might need to be careful about filming others if you haven't gotten their consent for them to be in your vlogs. Love 🥰 this video and love 💕 Katie.
Good advices! This is why i got myself de osmo pocket 3. Its small and handy. Doesnt notice much i am vlogging
If you tilt your glasses slightly forward you won't have reflections on it, great video! Thanks alot
Thank you for sharing this. It helps me to get motivated and trying to start vlogging
Great tips, in my case I use small microphones and a gimball, however, the key piece here is the microphone because it's a lavalier so I can move my head to another point and not directly to the camera and I don't have to yell in the camera direction
Hey you have been one of the inspirations I have cited for starting a daily vlog!
Thank Katie, these tips are really relatable and helpful!
But everyone hates those people! And they're always having the most inappopriate conversations, too! lol
@@vlo4829 haha well that is true, however it is something that helped me get over some of my initial hesitation in confidence, I guess we can't control what others think. As long as we're not being obnoxious or disrespectful of people or places then hopefully others would be kinder with us 😊
Wow.
Love the tracking bit. Can it be mounted on nomal tripods for long and wide views
Great tips! I love that gimble. I want one! ❤
right?! it's so fun to use!
Trust me it's great.
You will love it more, when you have it.
Thank you Katie. I can't wait to get out and do it. ❤
With your sponsored link, there are 3 options: (1) Stand-alone, (2) Creator kit, and (3) Pro-Tripod Kit. Which one did you buy, Katie? Thanks!
idk if this answers your question but I saw her comment saying she got this one "the Flow gimbal - I didn't buy any extra accessories with it"
I just have the Stand-alone! 🫶🏻
Thanks Katie this is something I really struggle with sometimes. Will try your tips
