    I watched this video 2 years ago with the hope that one day I would become a labor nurse. At the time, it was just information and I watched it along with many other videos. Now, watching it again after a year in labor and delivery, I can smile and nod. I love my career and am so incredibly blessed to be a labor nurse.

      Excapism Whatd you choose to do? I assume you graduated. If so, congrats! Im happy for you! Im currently a junior in high school and undecided still on what I want to do with my life. First, it was somewhere in the medical department in the airforce. Now Im unsure, and I thought about a flight attendant cause its also a way to get free traveling if you know what I mean and sounds very fun. Um I landed on this and Im still thinking somewhere in the medical department like this but still not so sure. I have a serious relationship with my bf and I dont know if hed like the idea of me going everywhere as a flight attendant, you know. And my family is scared for me to go into the military and travel too. Most of my family wanted to become nurses and they never got a chance to so, the thought of making their dreams come alive and liking it myself too in that area is where I got the whole 'somewhere in the medical department' in about everything. Sorry if I told you a lot and all, I just really wanted to share (im so excited about making something of myself, whatever it may be) and hopefully I can decide when the time comes.

    • @hasina6481
      @hasina6481 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. I just recently graduated from nursing school in November 2020. My journey began after I graduated high school. I knew I wanted to become a nurse one day, so at the time, I searched for a 4 year university that had an accredited nursing program. I eventually found one that was affordable. It took 4.5 years to get my degree. Two of those years consisted of taking pre-requisite classes (anatomy 1 & 2 lectures, anatomy 1 & 2 labs, microbiology, nutrition, and statistics). I took actual nursing classes for the other 2.5 years. After all that, I got my Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree (BSN).
      Keep in mind, going to a 4 year university straight out of high school is not the only way you can get a nursing degree. You can go to a community college for 2 years and get your associates degree in nursing (ADN). However, a lot of hospitals prefer nurses to get their bachelor’s degree. So if you go the ADN route, you can then find a 4 year university and finish taking the required classes to get your bachelors.

    Research has shown that induction of labor increases the risk of cesarean section (Herbst,Doyle & Ramin 2005). There are way too many pitocin induced labors. Unless there is an indication, why not wait for labor to begin?

    • @BhappyD
      @BhappyD 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      While I generally agree with you on the topic of unnecessary induced labor, maybe you didn't listen carefully enough to hear that her water broke, therefore they had to give her Pitocin to induce labor. Otherwise, she is at serious risk for infection, among many other serious possible complications for both her and the baby, if the labor doesn't start/the baby isn't delivered within a certain time frame.

      betternursing and depending on who you talk to that changes from 2 hrs to 12 if it’s a midwife or CNM at a birth center or nurse at a hospital. I got tons of different answers in my 3 births :-/ The one where they put me on pitocin 3 hrs after my water broke was the one where the baby was born blue and nearly had a c section. I mean I get no infections, but why force it instead of giving it a little time to happen?
