I remember back in the day that Volkswagen used a lot of magnesium parts until a VW factory near San Antonio Texas caught fire and was left to burn because of the magnesium parts. This was back in the 60's when all they had to put out such a fire was water which when sprayed on the burning magnesium just made the fire worse. If I remember correctly, the fire finally burned itself out in about a week.

I first became aware of Speedway Motors fifty years ago when they were already a mature company with a ton of history . Between Speedway's sales, tech and fabrication services, and the museum's curation and display tasks, Speedway must employ a good portion of Nebraska's talent and workforce ! Thanks, Mortske for giving us a "taste" of what they have on display . For myself, I have to be happy scanning thru their catalog ( and yes, they still do have a paper catalog, too ) and making my now-modest purchases . Seldom do I have to look elsewhere for my performance products .

Regarding the safety equipment, the HANS device was made mandatory in NASCAR after the death of Dale Earnhardt. A few drivers used it and Dale refused to use it. Had he been wearing one he would probably be alive today.

I like this place ,another must see is the Peterson in LA Ca because you can see all the movie cars . I guess the coolest cars ever made are on the moon and on mars but the average person could not get there. BTW I had a Graham Hollywood that was made from the old Cord metal stamping machines. I was too large for it at 6 4 but I felt very cool to own it .I had to sell it to pay for a down payment on a house. This show came on after the King Of England got his crown (yawn) and the Kentucky Derby ran (better )and I liked this show the best.
