    "Rainbow Connection" is a song from the 1979 film The Muppet Movie, with music and lyrics written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher. The song was performed by Jim Henson - as Kermit the Frog - in the film. Chart peak at # 25; My point is that it's a great hit song that was never followed up by another hit from Kermit.

      Jim Henson's first charted hit was "Rubber Duckie" by Ernie from Sesame Street, thus, Henson not a one hit wonder. There is also Kermit's signature song, "Bein' Green," which although not a charted hit, after Henson recorded it in 1970, it has since become a standard, having been recorded by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Lene Horne, and Van Morrison among the dozens of other artists.

    "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze from the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack. Made it to #3 in the US and the top 10 in Norway, Canada, Ireland and a few other countries. He was a big actor but that was his only radio hit.

    • @anthonydaniel1727
      @anthonydaniel1727 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The true definition of "One Hit Wonder" is an act that had one charted hit and then disappeared. While Swayze did only chart with one song, he didn't disappear from the public. After "Dirty Dancing," he acted/performed music in "Roadhouse." The album charted and produced some Rock hits (mainly for the Jeff Healey Band)m but Swayze's track "Raising Heaven (In Hell Tonight)" was released as a single and did recieve some radio airplay, though, technically it did not chart nationally,

      @@anthonydaniel1727 “One Hit Wonder” - one hit in the music world and that’s it. Doesn’t matter what else he’s famous for. If someone is famous for giving someone a BJ would that mean they aren’t a one hit wonder?

    • @anthonydaniel1727
      @anthonydaniel1727 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@someoneyoudontknow7705 the current method for tabulating charts is much different from the old days, but I worked in the music business back in the day, and Swayze's single "Raising Heaven (In Hell tonight)" off the "Roadhouse" soundtrack had respectable sales [back when people acturally had to go to a music store to make their purchase) and charted on playlist in many radio station markets (I used to read all the Trades). This past week's Billboard Top 100 contains every track from the new Taylor Swift and Drake albums, whereas in the old days instead of digital downloads one would have had to purchase the album. The Swayze single was listed as a double-sided hit with the B side, "Hoochie Coochie Man" by the Jeff Healey Band in some markets - though more Rock radio play than Pop. But, if it's listed as a hit, than it's a hit. Also, please keep your vulgarity to yourself.

    Kim Carnes had 3 top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits:
    - "Don't Fall In Love With a Dreamer", a duet with Kenny Rogers that hit #4
    - "More Love", a remake of the Smokey Robinson hit from 1967, which went to #10
    - "Betty Davis Eyes", which was #1 for 9 weeks in '81
    As well, she had two #15 hits, "Crazy In the Night", and a duet with Barbara Streisand, "What About Me"; as well as other singles that made the top 40.
    While she is best known for one song, she is most definitely not a "one hit wonder".

      Check the definition in Websters.
      Kim Carnes definitely applies. The narrator even acknowledges her other hits, but as per the definition she is known primarily for Bette Davis Eyes
      Hanson, Simple Minds, Men Without Hats, same Story.
      Under the strictest interpretation of a one hit wonder( must have only one hit), then The Grateful Dead are a one hit Wonder as “ Touch of Grey “ was the only one that charted.
      No ones ever going to say that TGD are a OHW.
      The definition is that they are generally known for one song, or the popularity of one of their songs overshadows all the others.
      If You say Simple Minds, the first song that pops into your head is “Don’t You”
      It’s not “Alive and Kicking”

    "Making Our Dreams Come True" is a 1976 hit single, recorded by Cyndi Grecc,; it was used as the theme song to the 1976-83 television sitcom "Laverne & Shirley" - Chart peaked was from # 13 to # 25 depending on which chart you look at. I grew up with 90s to early 2000s hits being popular in junior high and high school, and I thought of Chumbawamba's "Tubthumping", Baha Men's "Who Let the Dogs Out", LFO's "Summer Girls", Lou Bega's "Mambo No. 5", Harvey Danger's "Flagpole Sitta" and Meredith Brooks "Bitch" are some that I thought of, off top of my head. Smash Mouth's "All Star" can be a one-hit wonder, but that's the only one known single off their albums, though they did have a good song for Shrek soundtracks with "I'm a Believer".

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade

      I still think of "Walkin' on the Sun" when I think of Smashmouth personally. They didn't have a particularly large amount of output, but enough to prevent the from being on a list like this. Most of those others are justified though. Personally, "Mambo No. 5" is one of the happiest tracks I've ever heard, but "Baby Keep Smiling" on the same album is even more infectious.
