bruh no this is about that typically more girly stuff is viewed as less than compared to things men like. Let's take Twilight and Fast and Furious as an example, their target demographic is very different and according to critics, both are pretty eh, however, Twilight gets dragged waaay more than Fast and furious just because it's something that's cool and manly and twilight is not. (Not rly a fan of any of these franchises btw). Doesn't mean that men don't get judged for things they like but it definitely happens to women more, and that was literally her point
The point is that “feminine” things are dragged more than “masculine” things. K-Pop would be deemed feminine because the majority of its fan base is teenage girls. 50 years ago the Beatles were extremely popular among teenage girls, and men made fun of the Beatles because of it. Now the Beatles are viewed as one of the greatest bands of all time. What changed? Not the music, the fan base.
@@katiecook8195 most feminine things are dragged through the mud by other feminine people. Keep in mind that it was feminism that actually undermined the entire feminine nature and what their biological role to bring children into the world and brainwashing them into believing that raising the next generation is somehow a meaningless and uneconomical. @@Dino22440 Likely just another guy who wants to fight women's equality every step of the way and gets immediately defensive when the word misogyny is even mentioned.
As a guy, I really really resonated with a lot of the things she said. But I'm not sure whether we can call ALL of that misogyny. I faced a lot of backlash being Indian, growing up in the UK. Eating Indian food was frowned upon by my white friends. The same goes with listening to Indian music or my love for anime and K-pop. I was ashamed for having my own likes and things I enjoy and always hid it and acted like I did the norm thing. I don't think you can define this as misogyny. It's expectations of society that is wrong because this could be expressed by any gender why does it always have to be stereotyped to men, while we too can experience such things?
She's 17, very naive, and clearly listens to what the current narrative in much of popular culture is...that men, especially white men, are basically bad and that women, especially women of color, are oppressed. But it's pretty clear that she has lived a very sheltered life thus far and doesn't really know what she's talking about.

I’m not sure people judging your taste in music is entirely a female problem and a sign of misogyny. I think all American teenagers face that particularly with their parents. You ever hear of punk rock?
As a man I often find myself commenting or saying misogynistic rants all because of been hurt in the past. As a man of faith we must not forget who brought us into this world. Also never forget that the greatest woman whom ever lived gave birth to Jesus Christ and without her we wouldn’t find any redemption.
Most people who arent like me dont like k pop and it makes me insecure about my taste because I need everything I do validated, this is obviously misogyny. How did you get from point a from point b exactly? Cuz this is exactly what makes people think feminism is bs.
I think it's more a cluster of data points making a clear picture... Other women feeling the same, what's considered commonly humorous in our culture ("Basic", Kardashians, blonde jokes, etc). There are psyche theories that for boys to individuate they have to be "not girls" and avoid doing girl things, specifically by mocking feminine traits. If you take a lot of details in, it paints a clearer picture. Fair question, but I will point out that part of the prevalence of misogyny involves women tired of being doubted when we relate our perception of experiences that we've been gathering data on for a long period of time.
I played this video for research on misogyny. Other than the intro and the riddle at the end this has nothing to do with misogyny. A male K-POP fan would have the same experience.
Makes me wonder how many misogynistic things her family said about her behind her back for saying all this “to the public” and for speaking her mind. Indians are critical about women doing bold things like this

@divyanshu pandey don't even talk about it. Women are strong and so they are thriving. Men wouldn't have survived the misandry even if it was half percent of the misogyny that prevails in the world today.
Umm, in her opening statement she makes assumptions of how the audience may think? Making a judgement based on how someone looks, is a natural survival instinct. Just like a fight or flight, or friend or foe response. Most of these responses are based upon each individuals lived experience. We then use conformation bias to reinforce such beliefs, just like the lady in this video does to reinforce her belief in misogyny.
I still don’t understand how other women criticizing you is misogyny. If 95% of the time x = y, you can’t call someone misogynistic for presuming x = y.
This young woman I think means well, but ultimately comes across as sheltered, privileged, and very, very naive. It's immediately apparent that she hasn't lived life outside of a very small bubble. I remember being 17 and thinking I knew everything too...I'm now 43 and realize that I didn't know sh*t when I was 17. But it's all part of growing up.
I suppose, then, that a perceived microaggression - even as silence - can be met with actual aggression and even violence? That may not be the intent but that is clearly the consequence; intended or unintended.
Are women not allowed to complain about being disrespected? She didn't even blame it all on men; women disrespect women, too (It's mostly men, though).
Geez, and I thought the higher rate of suicide, deaths of despair, and only constituting 40% of college graduates was tough for male adolescents and young men. I didn’t realize you were having to deal with being a K-pop fan. I think this is one of those examples of “if this is what you have to complain about, you’re doing pretty well”
tl;dw From a young age, speaker has been unable to look inward and understand their motivation for hobbies, feels targeted when people guess the obviously poor reasoning for their actions. Speaker requests that we don't break their little bubble in life, because they are entitled to chasing their idea of a Disney life. Speaker would like us to stop verbally expressing the intrinsic motivations of one half of the world's population, because it forces them to face intrinsic realities they aren't ready for.
ok but what does someone saying something about your taste in music have to do with if you’re male or female? i cant help but be sure that you being a man in the music situation you mentioned wouldn’t have had a different outcome just because of what the majority thinks of kpop lol i feel like that was a bad example
I think that when it comes kpop people definitely get fun of for it regardless of gender! But the thing is, it’s more apparent for girls to get made fun for liking “boy bands” in general than it is for guys to get made fun of.
It's a great example because misogyny is a two sides of the same coin. Men would get made fun of as well because the music isn't "masculine" or it would be considered "too feminine" for a man to like a boy band.
This makes me think of the new _Helluva Boss_ episode. There's a scene where Crimson, Moxxie's dad, refers to Millie as a dame and a broad, both of which are slang words used against women. That being said, Crimson is sexist and revealed his misogynism. How do you think I'd react in the event of Crimson calling me a dame and a broad?
Umm, do you know what dame means? It's literally a female knight but better as they are not bound to military service. Treated with respect and nobility because of a rank. People have been knighted as dames like Maggie Smith and Emma Thompson. (More as well) Now before you say 'i didn't mean it in that context' you should find it hilarious that morons have been calling you a noble the entire time. Just saying. Also, never really heard dame as a way to tease women or against woman aside from some strangers on TH-cam talking about how it was used against them. I'm a bit puzzled with this one???
Being "girly" or a "tomboy" is not even a whole personality. It is NEVER just one thing. We are living beings not paper cut outs! The details are ALWAYS different for each INDIVIDUAL. fun fact: Father's Day was started by a woman, Sonora Dodd, in 1909, who wanted to honor her father. since Mother's Day was already a thing, it only made sense to start Father's Day. its not misogyny, its equality
@@bushmg1061 not only does TH-cam not so anything but 1 like ATM, but also I'm being both 100% honest and 100% factual with my comment. @Soldier of Allah they claim they want gender equality, yet the moment they try doing something that is traditionally male-dominated, like joining their country's military, most of the time they will complain, even if said country makes it easier for them. Sophia Sumaray is it not possible that she was getting bullied not because of sexism, but because of some different reason? Maybe people don’t like BTS because of the toxic fan base.
@@madhurihasan3998 no it means that fast and furious has more people PAYING FOR THE TICKETS. This isnt misoginy AT ALL.
Raising a child is not only one of the most thankless jobs but it is one of the most difficult jobs that I think Humanity has to offer and yet we have political parties like feminism that undermine the importance of Parenthood.
@@katiecook8195 precisely. Anything that attracts more of a female fan base too gets derided by men snd male identified women. Similar to the behavior towards twilight fans.

Mocking feminine interests, hobbies, behaviors is universal. She is right.

(More as well)
