Louis Theroux has a unique style, he manages to be respectful to the subject manner while still exposing what needs to be exposed. He also seems to have no ego which is very disarming and helps people open up to him even though they know what he is up to. Just a genuinely good bloke.

I would love to hear a 2-3 hour podcast between Louis and Duncan Trussell. IMO they both tick all the boxes for an ideal podcast guest - kind souls, super interesting stories, engaging, highly intelligent, humble and funny. They’re like TH-cam unicorns….😂

@@roodog430 His father Paul Theroux would be a an excellent guest. Love his travel books and he has experience teaching in Africa so he knows where the aid money from the west ends up. He also has a low opinion on the 'so called' charitable organisations such as the Rockefeller Foundation.

I read an article interviewing Tom Cruise a few years ago, and it was pretty favorable, the reporter went to one of his homes and told what they spent the day doing, etc. And then in the last paragraph, he talked about when he was leaving, he was just feeling so good, felt like he and Tom had made a real connection, that he'd got some great material, etc. Then it hit him as Tom turned to go and he walked to his car...he'd never even been invited inside. He spent the whole day with him, outside. And he just thought that was kind of a metaphor for the whole experience--Tom kept his walls up, even while making you feel like he's your best friend. Just stuck with me.

When Louis first came on our screens I think alot of people thought he was being deliberately naive to annoy the people he was interviewing and that he was being a bit arrogant or at least precocious. I suppose that may have been partly down to his age, being really young. As the years went on though the British public realised what a legend he really is and his shows became huge.

He has a respect for "weird" people and I think he's very curious. He doesn't resume to know the answer and that's why he asks such basic, open ended questions. He finds interesting people who are also often controversial and he gives them the prompts to display their inner personality. I think he's sharing his passion with us and he's brilliant at that in part because he's so fascinated himself.
