Never thought Cactus would grow outdoors in the UK! How interesting.

A really great video and garden. I do like the Mediterranean style as well as the tropical look as well. Some great ideas! That is a fantastic olive tree!

Great UK exotic garden overflowing with beautiful plants. Great climate to push the limits. Even in London there are some huge Phoenix & Washingtonia palms

Thank you both for the interesting tour of this impressive garden. The Fremontodendron is really nice. Even in my former California garden with low winter rainfall had to be grown in heavily amended soil.

Great garden and some wonderful plants there. Thank you both for showing this.
Some of those Agaves Yuccas etc I was looking at a couple of weeks ago at a garden in the middle of Kent. I was primarily looking at ferns but there was a very large south facing bed that sloped from the house, the owner had just erected a large cover to protect a couple of massive Agaves from the rain, over winter. He also had a couple of Banksia in flower.
I had seen the garden a couple of years after he moved in, over 20 years ago, with the Bamboo Society.

Very nice garden, well captured by your camera, especially the other-worldly blue hues on the sculptural plants. I'm amazed at the plant palette that you grow in your garden, and that George grows in his garden, along with Richard and your other adventuresome tour gardens. Looking from the US, my misconception of England's climate was colder than it is; I thought it resembled USDA Zones 6a and 6b in Pennsylvania and New York State. But now I see the truth: in a photo book called Conifers, Dutch plantsmen van Gelderen and van Hoey Smith show a climate map of Europe superimposed with USDA zones. It surprises me that the British Isles has USDA zones 8 and 9, which in the US appear only after you travel far south like Florida and Texas.

Yes the gulf stream really makes a huge difference to our winter temperatures. Keeping the UK much milder than it ought to be.
