      May God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, grant you all things needful for your salvation.
      Please remember the original Church that The Lord anointed and gathered is still worshipping and empowered for our life, especially in these times when martyrdom will be in every city around the world.
      The Orthodox Church continues to feed and clothe us in Holy garments as we use the armour of God to struggle and fight against the deception and wickedness of these days, Christ's Saints as our allies and who are not complete without us, neither we, them. Hebrews 11.
      Orthodox Christian Faith unchanged and active in Christ by The Holy Spirit since 33AD.

    This reminds me of an event that occurred around the 60's in America. A town was tormented by a bully for many years. Some people who mustered the courage to take the bully to the authorities and testify in court wound up threatened by him or injured. One day the town killed the bully in broad daylight in front of many witnesses and no one in the town stepped forth to tell what happened. It became a mystery as to what happened to the bully. Listening to Tolstoy's story, I feel very sad because the tormented townspeople took matters into their hands and they prevented God to do justice on their tormentor. It is understandable they had reached a breaking point. However the story says, "The seeds of still greater wickedness have been planted in you..." I wonder what became of the poor townspeople. 😕

    Five ads in a 22 minute story is waaay too many ads. The story itself (as all Tolstoys shorts a are) is wonderful and packs a lot into those few minutes.
    I listen to short stories as I am unwinding for sleep so the ads really ruined it for me. There are other channels that have no ads so I will stick to those going forward.

      A different perspective sees hubris and false omnipotence to think one has control over destiny or God's plan. Clearly Tolstoy thought one way, and you guys think differently. The world would be quite boring if we all approached things the same way.
      Edit: as an example, look what the cultural revolution and communism did, it killed countless millions. Hell and good intentions.

  • @robertbean8116
    @robertbean8116 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    So you think Tolstoy wrote this because he was a religious fool trying to tell peasants to chill and wait for God to save them? I think he made it very clear that SOME landlords were evil and abusive, but even if justified it would be very dangerous for the peasants to rebel . He knew that it would be censored unless the theme suggested that prayer, piety, and subservience would result in divine justice. So he deliberately wrote in BS about magic candles, religious songs, and people having unlikely fits of conscious . Block out the BS an you have a manifesto for revolution. By leaving it in the story had a chance to be published. Anyhow that is how i see it.
    A magic candle on an ox plow! Not ment to be believed . Tall tales need to be tall enough or the storyteller will be mistaken for a lier.
