Ilse talks to Luthier Roberto Cavagnoli
I made this interview for my Cello Club members. We had a zoom Cello Club Hang the day before and I took all the great questions they had to Roberto Cavagnoli in Cremona.
He talks about making cellos, wood, varnish, competitions, bridges, 7/8 cellos, strings, and I try his three 'lockdown cellos'
If you are interested in learning more about your cello and solving your cello problems, I invite you to come along to the Cello Club. Here you can make a little cello spaced zone in your life with the support of myself and a wonderful community of cellists of all levels. club.playcellomusic.com/bundl...

What a joy it must have been to play these amazing celli! So cool their different personalities. They are all individuals, like living breathing sentient beings!

Thanks for the comparison of the instruments. Same wood, same maker, nearly identical dimensions, but the sound was so different. I liked the second Cello.

Would love to know why cello luthiers aren't considering double tops as a viable alternative sound board? I would buy one.

I'd say it would be due to the tension on a cello. Maybe a double to wouldn't resonate as well either on a cello.
