I've not had GAS harder for anything than I have for this beautiful instrument. It resonates with me so much as a cellist, and as Cuckoo introduced - my classical sensibilities are going crazy for this lovely instrument!!
I've been mapping aftertouch to 1/2 tone pitch bend for 20 years to do slides and vibrato, but this keyboard separates those two methods and adds expression after the initial keypress. Keyboards have been crying out for that finger-contact interaction with a note that you only get on a stringed instrument normally. As a bassist and guitarist as well it seems very natural to want that. It also helps that the acoustic modelling on the Osmose is stunningly beautiful and clear.

From my background as a bassist and a guitarist, I could see really like this synth because I could finally play vibrato one something with keys! Amazingly expressive, was super impressed that you could get tremolo picking sounds from it as well.
Just a heads up, most modern midi keyboards have aftertouch and would allow you to do this! This keyboard is incredible though, it has like a pretouch where it can alter a parameter before you press the key downwards (maybe past a certain point downwards?). I’ve never heard/seen anything with touch affecting sound as cleanly as this synth.
This the first time I’m seeing the Osmose and it really looks and sounds like what I’ve been dreaming of. Coming from playing acoustic instruments I’ve always wanted a synth with these tactile expressive capabilities. Went straight to the website and preordered. Thank you Cuckoo, your beautiful approach to the instrument took me places!

I hear you guys. I‘ve always been a fan of expressive playing on mechanical keys with both hands. Never tried, but I don’t think I could play on a Roli. Wheels, levers, joysticks - yes, sometimes useful, but expressiveness by finger tips is much better. Even on traditional channel AT synths I usually have 5 or more parameters routed to aftertouch. The Osmose is fantastic. The only drawback I see: four, i.e. less than five octaves. ://
This must be the Clavichord of the 21th century. Like the 17th century instrument, it trains not only your touch control but the way you listen as well.
This is the future of keyboards and synthesizers. Being able to bring out the maximum amount of movement and expression individually with every key is something I never even thought possible but seeing and hearing it definitely makes me wish all keyboards had this. This is next level!

It's a lot to ask, but I honestly just kinda wish to see a really long video, live stream maybe, of you just testing as many presets as possible. I really love how you interact with both Continuum and Osmose, it appeals to me more than most other people I've seen play with these two, plus you're just great at playing anyways. It could be 20 hour video and I'd watch every last minute... and keep re-watching it until I can save up enough to buy the synth myself

For some sounds, with my eyes closed, it was hard to distinguish from the analogue equivalent. Fantastic demonstration - Expressive E need to get you on the Osmose product page!
The expressive keyboards coming out these days are outstanding. I feel like I just started to explore some of this with my Hydrasynth Explorer and it's great to see more synths coming out with a ton of tactile expression options.

you found yourself a musical companion for life, i can sense that in a week you'll start uploading for us a musical motif a day and never really run dry, even full soundtracks based on how inspiring those paches all sound.. great introduction, excited to see whats next ^-^
It's funny how many great tracks and films popped into my head, but with just one sound / instrument bringing that feeling. Alabama Shakes, Moderat, Dune. Also, how many times it produced a 'wow'
this is what we needed!! ever since I was a child I would always pretend to wiggle the keys like I was doing vibrato on a violin or something. The seaboard was too far a departure for me to justify owning one, as opposed to something like this which just looks like regular piano keys. Once they come out with an 88 key version I will buy one ASAP.
Wow. I was watching this video in the background earlier today while doing some work, as soon as I started hearing the sound this thing can make my jaw physically dropped and I stopped everything I was doing, just to sit and listen. What an utterly mesmerising instrument. Some of the sounds gave me genuine goosebumps, especially 27:45. I would love to own one myself, but feel like I'm too inexperienced in the world of synthesisers (and as a pianist!) to warrant it. Who knows, maybe I'll treat it as a reward for myself, when I reach a level of playing ability to do the Osmose justice. Thank you for this demo Cuckoo, first time I've seen any of your content and I've immediately subscribed!
Thanks for responding back to me the other day, and clarifying the differences between the Osmose and the Roli! The pressing of the silicone, causing stress on your fingers made sense. The Osmose is definitely the better, and more interesting alternative. I decided to preorder, before they became unattainium. The preorders are already out to July-Aug, so I figured that I better go ahead, and commit. Thanks again for the heads up!
There aren't many people that I can sit and listen to for half an hour. You are one of the exceptions. I really enjoy the expression that you are putting into the notes. If I shut my eyes, it's almost as if someone is playing a real instrument. Well demonstrated.
absolutely excited to see this finally arrive! i preordered back in Dec 2019 based on your initial video on the Osmose. As always buddy, videos are always top tier all around and I could legit listen to your improvisation for hours. cheers buddy

Just when I was telling my friends how I’d love for Hans Zimmer to get one of these, you said “this is the ultimate soundtrack synthesizer”. Even better: you pick up the torch from Vangelis and we get to enjoy a generation of soundtracks made by Cuckoo, with the Osmose as his CS-80!
I was classically trained, yet I was into electronic music - Kraftwerk, TD, Klaus Schulze etc. - since 1979. Not all of us are uninterested in it! But thanks for this marvellous introduction to a synth that hardly anyone knows about yet... and what a beautifully relaxing voice you have. Whether we want more expressivity in a keyboard for electronic sounds is another matter: one of the attractions of electronic sounds for me (and maybe I'm strange) is their predictability and repeatability. I don't particularly want a synth to sound or play like an acoustic instrument. But then, I've never played the Osmose.
I hope you’ll like it! It’s a really special instrument. I’m so glad they kept their cool and managed to reach the finishing line through these challenging times!

1st thing i thought of: What if you have this control over an analogue source. 2nd thought: Cuckoo, you are an amazing artist!
Reminds me of my old air-driven Hammond organ I had as a kid. Really cool!
Must have been hard to regulate the air so the rotors spin at A440! Magnus organ?
@@echodelta9 Yes!
you found yourself a musical companion for life, i can sense that in a week you'll start uploading for us a musical motif a day and never really run dry, even full soundtracks based on how inspiring those paches all sound.. great introduction, excited to see whats next ^-^
It's funny how many great tracks and films popped into my head, but with just one sound / instrument bringing that feeling. Alabama Shakes, Moderat, Dune. Also, how many times it produced a 'wow'
Thanks for the video Cuckoo
A man with truly cosmic touch and childlike delight.
this is what we needed!! ever since I was a child I would always pretend to wiggle the keys like I was doing vibrato on a violin or something. The seaboard was too far a departure for me to justify owning one, as opposed to something like this which just looks like regular piano keys. Once they come out with an 88 key version I will buy one ASAP.
Cuckoo you showcase so much passion and enthusiasm and I've loved your channel so much. Lovelovelove your channel and everything you do
Thank you so much 🙏🏼❤️
Thank you so much Harry. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
I’m floored. This sounds absolutely wonderful.. what an achievement by expressive e
yay. you had introduced me to the Osmose back in '19... i put an early deposit on one, and i'm EAGERLY waiting my unit.
Thanks again for the heads up!
that sounded truly amazing, literally lifted my soul. might have to crank out the money for this one
Wow, those opening notes. Just lovely.
No one better to demo this instrument.absolute beauty from a truly unique individual.
Thank you so much Seth! 🙏🏼 I hope you’ll get your unit soon! It’s a lovely lovely instrument!
Thank you so much for reminding me of just how awesome this instrument is :) I was one of the very first to preorder this in 2019 and was considering to not get it anymore but have my deposit paid back - well not anymore! Really looking forward to this. Thanks and all the best, Tobi
I absolutely cant wait to get my hands on mine
It's like this instrument was made for you. Wonderful presentation!
Expressive for sure, I love this too. Cheers Cuckoo! First time here, and it's a joy just watching you play.
found this channel not long ago, and totally binged everything and i gotta say, your vibes are immaculate and i love it, stay peaceful brother
🙏🏼 thank you so much. Peace ❤️
Incredible piece of hardware! It sounds beautifully natural and organic.
What a lovely video! The synth sounds amazing and your playing and vibes are perfect 🙏❤️
Also so many video game tunes!! So cool 🔥🔥
Thank you so much ❤️
I preordered mine ages ago, still waiting for that final order email. this video refuels my impatience with every beat of my anxious heart.
Amazing demo, I would listen to you noodle on this for hours. Hell, I would pay for it.
I've became an Osmose early bird because of your video years ago. And now, after lots of delays, it seems to be finally about to be shipped out
I hope you’ll like it! It’s a really special instrument. I’m so glad they kept their cool and managed to reach the finishing line through these challenging times!
Thanks for the most pleasant illustrations amigo.I’ve been waiting 4 the release of this finished product so time to sell stuff we don’t use and make room. It’s the most organic as it gets 🎼
This sounds so lovely! I’m so incredibly excited to get mine in may! 🎉
You are the right person to show of this beauty.
Cuckoo’s brilliance and the mind blowing capabilities of this machine are perfect match✨Amazing demo👍
This synth is not only a music instruement. It can tell a blockbuster story :D Very cinematic qualities! Love the video, as always!
Thank you so much Flambo! 🙏🏼
Ensoniq was touching on this type of aftertouch control back in the 80s and 90s, but couldn't produce the changing digital audio effects. This is a next level.
Someone get one of these to Tom Waits ASAP.
Tom Waits for No Man.
OMG, this machine is stunningly expressive! And it arrives just when I decided to go all in with my IpadPro.
Are there any particular apps you are planning on using on the iPad?
@@JohnnyArtPavlou I started playing around with i os music production back in 2012. Back then I bought Nave and Korg’s ms-20 and FL Studio. After that I left i os and returned recently to discover a whole new world that has evolved. I am into ambient, experimental and sounddesign. I use the following synths, ID 700, SynthScaper and I still love Nave. For granular synthesis I use Spacecraft, Fluss and Tardigrain. For soundscapes I use SoundScaper and I density. For modular I use Mi rack. As DAW I use NanoStudio and the brilliant Drambo. But I also use my I pad as a multi instrument to record directly into Ableton. Apple made it very simple to use the I pad as an audio and MIDI device for Mac OS. Let me know if there is more you want to know.
I ordered mine because of your preview all that time ago. So happy you're happy, then I'll be happy when mine comes soon.
I cant wait to get my hands on one. ordered 2 years back. Sounds incredible.
Incredible sounding machine, thanks for the insightful demo.
